Baby Tyrant Chapter 96: Estevan Orders Aidan to Leave Mabel
Baby Tyrant Chapter 96 begins as Estevan says, “Aidan, you must leave Mabel’s side.” As soon as he hears the words, Aidan turns away, believing the conversation to be a waste of time. However, Estevan stops him in his tracks by asking him why he went to the Devlin border (a while back, on Mabel’s orders). Aidan begins wondering if he was spotted on his journey to figure out the enemy empire’s recent activity and whether he could remain stable far away from Mabel.
Estevan tells Aidan that he has no intention of deporting him from Ermaneau. Instead, he lets a paper flutter to Aidan’s feet, providing financial compensation for being relieved from his duty. “Leave Mabel’s side,” he reiterates. Aidan stands tall, unmoved, and blatantly refuses.
“Even if you being near Mabel… will put her in danger?” Estevan asks. “There is no guarantee that Mabel will be safe without me around,” Aidan says.
Angered, Estevan asks him who gave him the permission to speak her first name. “Mabel did,” Aidan states bluntly. He realizes how easy it is to infuriate Estevan and subtly begins to goad him by repeatedly using her name. “If you have a problem with it, talk to Mabel,” he says. “Stop it,” Estevan orders. “I need to get back to Mabel,” he says again. “Why you…!” Estevan yells.
Mabel Overhears the Whole Thing
Meanwhile, Mabel leans on her balcony as a white dove flies towards her. She asks the bird, Chirpy, about her father’s conversation with Aidan. After hearing the report, she realizes that the whole ordeal sounded much like a soap opera episode.
Just then, Aidan knocks at her bedroom door. Mabel rushes to her desk, picking up a book to look inconspicuous. “You’re holding that book upside down,” Aidan says, immediately knowing that she’d eavesdropped on the entire conversation. Mabel becomes serious and asks him if he really wants to leave. When he makes it clear that he doesn’t want to, Mabel grins and says, “Thank goodness!” She playfully tells him that even if he wanted to go, she wouldn’t let him since she needs his help to overthrow Devlin.
Then, in the usual Mabel fashion, she begins to form a plan. For a long time, she’s been fed up with the empire’s split opinions on her ‘handsome knight’ or the ‘loyal dog of Devlin’. She tells Aidan that he needs to perform a magnificent accomplishment for Ermaneau that no one could deny, thereby cementing his value in the imperial palace. Although Aidan himself doesn’t care about others’ opinions, he obeys due to his loyalty to Mabel.
Baby Tyrant Chapter 97: Mabel Eavesdrops on Larimah
Baby Tyrant Chapter 97 begins as Mabel and her companions- Oscar, Kit, and Lisandro- take a break from shopping. At a cafe, Kit, her divine golden kitten, voraciously wolfs down cookies even though Mabel warns him of a stomachache. ‘Guardian Deities don’t get stomachaches,’ he tells her (he once got sick after eating pudding, but according to him- ‘That was pudding! These are cookies! So they’re different!’).
Oscar briefs Mabel about Larimah’s boyfriend, Rayvid Pennant, the son of Marquess Pennant. He describes him as the ‘typical nobleman’ who occasionally involves himself in family affairs, but mostly just carouses about. Worried that both Oscar and Ravi have negative opinions on the man, Mabel decides to look into him.
Later in her bedroom, she researches his recent activity and finds out that he’d been philandering with many women. She asks Madam Rufey about Larimah’s whereabouts and realizes she’d gone to see Rayvid. ‘If I don’t put a stop to this now, Larimah will only be more hurt!’ she thinks and abruptly dashes out of the room, telling Rufey she was visiting Esteven. Mabel holds on to the hope that if Larimah breaks it off with Rayvid, there’s a chance that she and Ravi could be together.
Rayvid Wants to See Mabel’s Necklace
In the gardens, Mabel zooms past her hopeful father, who was ready to greet her arms wide. “I’m busy, daddy! Bye!” she yells apologetically. She locates Larimah and Rayvid and peers at them from behind a tree. He begins to flatter her with words of honey, disgusting Mabel, who calls him ‘a total Casanova’. He goes on to ask Larimah for a favour- he wants to look at Countess Deverill’s heirloom necklace.
Although she tries to refuse, Rayvid keeps insisting on seeing the precious jewellery. ‘How dare he push Larimah around like that!’ Mabel thinks. However, just as she decides to go help her, Larimah frees herself from his grip. “How rude,” she says, asserting herself, “As someone who serves and assists Her Majesty closely, what you are asking for is an insult to me.” She walks away from him, with her head held high.
‘Wow, Larimah’s so cool!’ Mabel thinks, admiring her resolve. Then, being even more suspicious than before, she sends her bird to spy on Rayvid. She knows that the necklace contains the core of a Tree of Genesis, which is useless to most people but extremely valuable to the Devlin Empire. ‘So it’s you again, Veron!’ she concludes, pinpointing the ruler of Devlin as the culprit. Baby Tyrant Chapter 97 concludes as Mabel promises to make him pay dearly for attempting to steal from her.
Baby Tyrant Chapter 98: Mabel Gives Rayvid Her Necklace
Baby Tyrant Chapter 98 begins as Oscar realizes he’d recently been neglecting his investigation of Evil, an intelligence guild secretly owned by Mabel. Walking through the palace grounds, he suddenly sees her. She stands behind a tree, with her back to him, spying on an administrative meeting. “Just… out for a stroll,” Mabel lies, after being confronted.
After the meeting ends, she scans the members looking for someone in particular- Rayvid Pennant. She sees him and leaves Oscar in the middle of his sentence to meet him. “You’re Larimah’s boyfriend, right?” she says to Rayvid cheerfully. Although surprised by her sudden greeting, he drops into a bow. Uncomfortable in the presence of the ‘irritating child’, he begins to excuse himself. However, when he notices the necklace she wears- Countess Deverill’s heirloom- he immediately perks up with new enthusiasm.
“Could I borrow the necklace you’re wearing right now?” he asks politely. He claims that he wants to closely examine the design to find a similar necklace for Larimah. Oscar becomes livid at his request, but Mabel unexpectedly agrees without hesitation. She tells him to return it by evening and then leads her protesting brother away on a stroll.
Rayvid Tries to Escape
Later, dusk falls on Ermaneau. Rayvid flees the empire by horseback with the necklace safely in his clutches. Suddenly, his horse rears up as a small hooded figure obstructs the path. He rudely asks the kid to move before realizing who it is. “Your Majesty!” he exclaims. Mabel asks him for her necklace and, when he denies its possession, she points at the glittering chain in his pocket. It unexpectedly catches fire, causing him to throw it to the ground in an effort to put it out.
At first, Mabel feigns shock. However, she soon pulls out the real necklace and tells Rayvid that his was a fake. “You’re a Devlin spy, aren’t you?” she asks. Baby Tyrant Chapter 98 concludes as Rayvid throws an explosive at her feet.
Baby Tyrant Chapter 99: Mabel Tricks the Devlin Spy
Baby Tyrant Chapter 99 begins as Mabel protects herself with her divine power and taunts Rayvid by saying, “Is that the best you can do?” Vowing not to go easy on her, he repeatedly strikes at the defensive bubble around her. Her golden shell- unable to sustain the blows- begins to crack. After the shield shatters, Mabel collapses into a small heap in front of Rayvid.
“Now hand me that necklace,” he says triumphantly. She huddles into a tight ball, whimpering, “I-I’m scared… don’t come any closer.” He promises not to hurt her if she gives him the precious chain, and Mabel relents. Walking away with the necklace, he snickers thinking, ‘She may be an Emperor, but she’s still a child.’ As soon as he mounts his horse and rides away, Mabel immediately wipes her crocodile tears and says, “Wow… he bought it.”
Turns out, the necklace he had (the one that caught fire) was the real thing. Casey appears behind her, saying, “It’s too bad, really. I was going to step in if necessary.” Master of both hand-to-hand combat and magical enchantments, Casey wanted to show Mabel his skills.
Then, he opens a small box and presents it to her. Encased within is a pair of communication devices she’d requested. They were made of Fornith, a rare raw material available only in Devlin, that she acquired in small quantities through the black market. The devices were created for Mabel to keep in touch with Aidan.
As she gets ready to leave, Casey questions, “You’re going to let the spy escape?” “No,” she says, as a crow on her arm, with a note attached to its leg, swoops into the orange skies above. “He’ll never be able to cross the border into Devlin.”
Rayvid Meets Aidan (Good Luck, Buddy)
Travelling far, the black bird eventually drops the message into Aidan’s hand. Stationed at the border, he makes short work of the enemy soldiers, and the other troopers give him a wide berth, knowing his fearsome capabilities. Spattered with blood, Aidan looks up to the sun thinking, “I don’t care much about revenge, but now, I can be at Mabel’s side without shame or reservation.”
A few days after encountering Mabel, Rayvid enters the border’s vicinity. Just as he begins feeling relieved, a cloaked figure appears in front of him. “The Demon of Devlin?!” he exclaims with terror. He questions how Aidan knew his location and then realizes he never should’ve left Mabel alive.
Aidan steps closer to him and lets him know, ‘it’s a shame’ that she ordered his capture instead of death. Baby Tyrant Chapter 99 concludes as Rayvid cries in shock, “C-capture?!”
