Duo Leveling Chapter 3: Song Game
Duo Leveling Chapter 3 begins with Duo and his team falling into a dimension. Suddenly, the cloaked figure appears, “A new quest has begun! Challenge: Catch the notes to complete the song.” Targeting Lily with his words, the cloaked figure says, “Inspired work on the last challenge, but I wonder how you’ll handle this next one…” Frustrated by the whole thing and quite insecure, Duo starts talking about how this cloaked figure is going around giving tasks while being super not-cool. As soon as he says that this game makes no sense, the cloaked figure hits a button, and the floor becomes a piano ramp.
Zari notices the maestro podium and immediately realizes what to do. She stands behind the podium and instructs, “Oscar, stay where you are! The walls are covered in sheet music! I can direct you from here and…” Before she could complete her sentence, the penalty appears in red letters. But what is the penalty? The floor starts cementing Zari where she is. Worried Lily screams to ask what’s happening. However, Zari being Zari puts on a smile and says, “I’m fine! Stay on the tiles, we’ll worry about this after we finish the song! Seeing Zari’s optimism, the cloaked figure gets annoyed and changes the mode of notes to sentient. “Let’s see if that attitude holds up when the notes get sharper.”
Zari loudly warns that a lot more is coming. A mimic full of revenge targets Lily, “My revenge is in sight!” But of course, no one can touch Lily’s swag. She does a cartwheel and, with one foot, presses the mimic’s head, “Hey, it’s the mimic from before, how’s it going, dude?” Grudgingly, the mimic curses Lily. Meanwhile, Oscar slips, and they get a second penalty. With the second strike, the floor cemented Zari to her chest. But still, she says, “Let’s finish this up before I go full cinder block, eh?”
What’s Next?
Duo panics as all the notes speed up. However, they manage to get hold of all the mimics, and there is Strike 3 – All existing penalties increased! Zari screams, “Listen carefully! Everyone get on the E key with Lily, right now! I’ll be fine, but you have to catch the last note together! No matter what, don’t let go until it disappears!” And with that instruction, Zari turns into a podium herself. Lily orders Duo and Oscar to run over to the E key. With all their remaining power, they stop the mimic and crush – mission successful! Zari bursts out of the cemented podium, and along with her emerges Falstaff (#7 Streak Society) from the existing podium. Now, the team has a new ability, Fermata (Time holds until the conductor releases it. One-time use.)
Seeing Falstaff, Duo can’t hold back his tears and hugs the grizzly bear. Meanwhile, Lily is wondering how he fits in that cinder block. She points out how absurdly calm he looks despite being missing for 2 months. He shuns it away, saying he is a bear and this duration is barely the start of his hibernation. Duo Leveling Chapter 3 ends with Falstaff opening the door in a hurry to get out of there, since he wants to take a nap.
