Duo Leveling Chapter 2: Let’s Play Chess
Duo Leveling Chapter 2 begins with Lily jumping through the portal. Zari gets excited seeing her friend. Classic Lily replies, “Couldn’t let you have all the glory. We’re tied for #1 for a reason.” Upon landing in this new dimension, they see nothing but broken pillars all around. Running after the cloaked figure for a while, Duo bumps into a surface and faints, and suddenly, they are on a chessboard. So, we are guessing this portal requires the challenger to complete the chess game to move forward in the game? The name of the challenge is chess puzzle, and the objective of this game is to ‘mate in 2’.
Duo huffs, “Oh, c’mon, we don’t have time for this.” The classic Duolingo mascot appears (just for the readers and just like the annoying notification) and reads, Note from Duo: That’s just the stress talking. There is always time for a lesson.
While Duo gets busy trying to stop this quest, Zari says, “What do you think, Lily? Chess Puzzles are more up your alley than mine.” Nonchalantly, Lily says, “Hmm, if only I could get a better view of the board…” On the other hand, our adorable owl is having a meltdown. No, literally, he is melting! And, dare we say, with a lot of pride. We’re doomed…if my big brain and bulging muscles can’t break us out, nothing can…Am I doomed to wander these eldritch halls for the rest of my days? To never again feel the sun’s rays upon my beautiful green feathers? How cruel!
Lily Saves Oscar
Optimistic as always, Zari, with a smile on her face, asks Duo if he can fly Lily up so she can get a better view. Struggling with his tiny body, he somehow flies Lily up. And the Purple Power Ranger begins to think about the right move. After much calculation, they came down, and Lily asked Zari to help her move the queen! And adding humor in this situation, Duo says, “Pft. Chess lesson. More like a cardio lesson.” Then they immediately ran for the rook and bam WON!
As the puzzle completes, the glass breaks with “Ability Unlocked: Capture. Make physical contact with an enemy to trap them. One-time use.” Suddenly, from the cracked chess floor emerges Oscar with a classic Oscar line, “Good heavens, why is it so dusty in here?” Flabbergasted, Duo remarks, “Oscar? As in missing for the past 3 months, ranked #5 in the streak society Oscar?”
Scared Oscar Finally Agrees
Seeing his members in front of him, Oscar gets confused. He starts blurting out how everything went dark for him on a chessboard… Duo cuts him off with his excitement upon realizing they are on the right track. Zari gave Oscar the energy potion that would restore his energy completely. But as soon as Duo proposes that Oscar join them in the journey of finding the villain, he spits the entire potion on Duo’s face.
Frustrated, with a fisted hand, Oscar says he signed up for the job for the prestige, not to roam around to find a villain. Lily, who can potentially become the best villainess in the manhwa world, whispers, “The portal home is closed. You either come with us, or we leave you here. Alone.” Duo Leveling Chapter 2 ends with Oscar agreeing to join his members in the journey to catch the cloaked villain. On the other hand, the cloaked figure is impressed by Lily’s moves and is certain to trap this group.
