Marionetta has us in a curious haze about what comes next. It’s such a ride, Julia sure has her hands full with her friend Kamille, a gorgeous girl with a penchant for trouble and anything out of the ordinary, and our sweet 21-year-old protagonist Julia (bless her heart) with a fiery temper can’t say no to her. Sounds similar? Yeah, we are sure we all have that friend we can’t say no to, who always gets us in trouble. Well, what is different is that, unlike us both the girls are dead, yeah I know what you are thinking typical but trust me it’s anything but that. So without further ado let’s dive headlong into Marionetta Chapter 17-24.
Marionetta Chapter 17: Hint of A New Romance
Marionetta Chapter 17 starts with Julia waking up to find Kamille missing from her bed, typical. After a lot of asking around she finds her asleep on her workbench with a lot of dress designs scattered, she seems to have pulled an all-nighter to complete the dresses, and to Julia’s utmost horror, those are for the Ak’hon (yes, Julia’s worst fear, the three eyes).
The heavens come crashing down on our poor protagonist as Kamille confesses that she wants to be their custom designer and asks Julia to not judge but she has fallen in love with them, throwing Julia’s head into absolute chaos. So now we have a freaking-out best friend, who knows how dangerous Sahed can be. Julia immediately rushes and bangs on his door in the middle of the night demanding answers. Julia asks why Sahed is seducing ladies when he has a girlfriend why Sahed asked her to kill their circus master and what’s with the seals with tears in her eyes.
Sahed finally agrees to tell everything but the way he held on to our protagonist *wink* Now that man’s fine. We have been drooling on him for a while now, is this the start of a new romance, are we finally attaining him as a love interest? Well, the artists don’t always draw characters that fine without teasing our MCs with romance.
Chapter 18: A Kill?
Drumrolls please, we have been waiting for this for a long long time now. The answers, Julia needs to find them to know if Sahed can be trusted, did we mention he is good-looking? Julia sits expectantly while Sahed asks what she wants to know. To which Julia strutters asking if he is not gonna offer her any tea. To which he questions back if she wants tea or smoking.
Sahed tells how the government is lying to all and in research centers they do magic. And those seals are used to communicate with spirits, Julia had used a similar one to sign the pact when had just died. Then Sahed revealed that Ak’hon can see and talk to spirits and that Julia can’t kill Tonny, that they are his prisoners. He demonstrates it by slashing Julia’s neck and Julia doesn’t feel any pain (Yikes, way to prove a point). They are Tonny’s prisoners, not even death can free them, Marionetta Chapter 18 ends on that note.
Marionetta Chapter 19: A New Love Interest?
Marionetta Chapter 19 starts with Julia feeling too loaded with the information, she appears as white as a sheet and promptly leaves. Then she gets some forbidden thoughts about a certain someone (ooh our ship is sailing) which she quickly hits herself out of. As per Sahed’s advice starts to keep an eye on Tonny and by that I mean she snoops and follows him around everywhere and everyone starts assuming that she has a crush on Tonny (sweet sweet misunderstanding, we strive for it). And our adorable MC thinks she is good at spying.
Tonny comes to Julia in the middle of the night to invite her to the bonfire party she had been avoiding all along also apologizing to her in the process for not being there for her. Surprisingly she agrees (to keep an eye on him of course, Misunderstanding will start to deepen now…)Â ending Marionetta Chapter 19.
Chapter 20: A Circus Night
Julia finds the partly nightmarish, as Tonny attempts conversation, Dotty hypes him up while Tonny Signals he is not trying to flirt. Dotty explains the origin of the circus to Julia, she says she ran away with Bob the love of her life and to hide from the government and her husband she signed off her life and joined Tonny in a hotel, the environment was full of despair and since they were trapped in a place, they felt like prisoners so they asked and got to know what kept them alive was being together, so off they went in a jolly immortal circus. Dubious.
Marionetta Chapter 21: Tonny Faces A Rash Julia
Marionetta chapter 21 starts with Julia running and rejecting Tonny … ahem we mean she rejects Tonny’s offer to form and team. Julia rushes to her room excitedly but she finds Kamille’s bed empty. That doesn’t discourage her, she thinks how proud Kamille will be of her when she hears Julia attended the bonfire party. We find Julia on the other end sewing clothes and making designs custom for the Ah’kans and we get a glimpse of Kamille getting the best day of her life helping Rainah fit into the clothes she designed.
Chapter 22: Kamille Forgets Julia’s Birthday
Marionetta Chapter 22 is a roller coaster for our darling MC. Today is Julia’s birthday and when she can’t find Kamille anywhere she thinks Kamille is busy preparing her gift and trying to throw her a surprise party when Sahed comes along and says Kamille is in his room and that he has gotten no sleep. Julia asks if they slept together surprised. Sahed replies he was up all night (more directed misunderstanding) and when Julia is freaking out with the information he clarifies Kamille just came in the morning for the costume fitting. Then he pulls her and asks about Tonny and Julia blushing gets the forbidden thoughts and rushes out.
Julia meets Kamille who happily tells her she got accepted as Ak’han’s stylist and Julia asks furiously if she forgot about her birthday. (Poor Julia, she died for a friend who forgot her birthday). And if Kamille joins them what about her and her team and the puppets? Kamille says she can do them later. Julia furious goes to Tonny and claims she wants to do a show but only with Tonny. Only him. And Tonny stands there blushing.
Marionetta Chapter 23: Kamille Gushing Over Rainah
Marionetta Chapter 23 starts as we see Kamille coming to the Ak’has , bringing Rainah new makeup designs and pointedly ignoring Sahed. She gets to apply the makeup on Rainah’s face while also drolling on her beautiful face.
On the other hand, Julia is wearing a clown costume and trying to act with (or not lose her patience ) Tonny. Dotty helps them come up with acts for the show she recommends the grumpy Julia kick the wimpy Tonny but they refuse. Instead Dotty final idea is taken where Julia would throw knifes at Tonny without hitting him, ending Marionetta Chapter 23.
Chapter 24: A New Town
We are in a school where children tumble over themselves to answer the scientists who came to their school. Amelia and another guy, two new character and as these scientists step out they see the circus rolling in. The man doesn’t seem too thrilled by this and he comments these places always breaks the rules.
Julia is flaunting to Kamille that she is throwing knives at Tonny to make her realize she is not totally dependent on their friendship. Just then Sahed comes and whisks her away in the name of showing her the best view of the city. They are travelling so he grabs her hand and runs along. (It seems they are growing closer and closer, say ship Tonny or ship Sahed will sail?)
Marionetta has the perfect blend of comedy , trill and slice of life in a fantastical world to keep us goin and dreaming. And we are still rooting for Kamille to apologized to Julia, their friendship needs a bit more… well friendship and that on Kamille’s part.
