In The Dickheads Chapter 21-30, the drama dives deeper as emotions run high and relationships are tested. Eliana’s life gets messier—her budding romance with Levi creates tension with Marco, who is clearly nursing more than just friendly feelings. Between awkward run-ins, emotional outbursts, and silent heartbreaks, the trio’s dynamic turns turbulent. Meanwhile, Amy spirals into jealousy, and Levi struggles with anger issues and a strained relationship with his father. Eli also faces a growing disconnect with her grandma. New characters like Leif and Olivia bring fresh energy, while quiet moments, like teaching kids or grocery trips, reveal the heart underneath the chaos.
The Dickheads Chapter 21: Signs of A Red Face

The Dickheads Chapter 21 begins as Levi starts by admitting that he hadn’t meant to rush things and it turns out he and Amy broke up last summer which Eliana didn’t expect at all. After seeing his vulnerability, Eliana admits they may be moving fast, yet she thinks it’s worth trying anyway. Levi turns bright red, amazed by her fast answer, and asks if he can kiss her cheek.
As soon as things become sweet in front of Eliana’s house, Grandma stands by the window as the uninvited third person, silently judging the cheek kiss. After Levi goes, Eliana comes in and is hit with a guilt trip. Her grandma tells her that love is the reason her mother ended up ruined, and the same will happen to Eliana. Moods shift quickly into something gloomy. Eliana falls apart, dismisses her grandma’s worry, and quietly cries herself to sleep. At the end of The Dickheads Chapter 21, Eli is curled up on her bed, feeling the sting of her grandma’s words as love and pain meet within the same house.
Chapter 22: Promises and Babysitting Duties

The Dickheads Chapter 22 begins as we see a flashback of Eli’s parents Edgar and Mirian arguing about how to raise her. Grandma scolds Eli for not behaving well, but she gets distracted trying to climb a tree. But, ends up falling from the trees and hurts herself badly. Later, Edgar cleans Eli’s wounds, and he tears up inside, and his heart nearly melts at the name “Papa.” He asks her to watch her behavior, since her little brother will follow her actions, even when he’s not present. Edgar, fighting back tears, makes Eli promise that if she falls in love as an adult, the deal will be two-sided and unconditional, so it’s better than her parents’ story.
As Grandma’s words still affect her, Eli lies on her bed and hears her phone buzz. It’s Marco. He invites her to help him babysit as both his mom and step-dad would not be at home. This invitation pulls her out of the sadness. She wipes away her tears, types back a little “Yes, Please,” and manages to smile for the first time after breaking down that evening.
At the end of Chapter 22, Eli opts for the promise made to his friends, thinking that tomorrow’s babysitting gig will be worth enduring today’s sadness.
The Dickheads Chapter 23: Sisterhood And Secrets

The Dickheads Chapter 23 begins with Eli telling her grandma she’s heading out and to text her if anything’s needed. She leaves without hearing anything, not knowing that Grandma is almost in tears because she can’t text on her phone, the screen of which is cracked too.
Cut to Eli at Marco’s house, where his cute siblings are completely fascinated by her ability to draw. She draws something special for each family member, making her the quick favorite for each of Marco’s siblings. Eli draws a special picture for Marco after Marco timidly asks for one.
At this point, Marci—Marco’s sister and a bit of a troublemaker—finally asks the big news. Eli is asked by Marci if she has a boyfriend. Eli turns red completely and agrees. Marco quickly feels both surprised and heartbroken. Marci says with a pout that, if Eli didn’t have a boyfriend, they could have been sisters. They both joke about it, but Marci says Eli won’t really get to be her sister unless she dates Marco. Awkward silence and double blushing happen just as Marco’s parents come in. The Dickheads Chapter 23 ends with a room full of red faces and unspoken feelings swirling in the air.
Chapter 24: Ghosts from the Past

The Dickheads Chapter 24 begins with Marco and Eli sharing a quiet moment after the chaotic family evening. Marco says his mother will take her home, but before she goes, he brings up the topic of her and Levi. Surprised, Eli reddens and explains that they have just started dating, even though it all seems a bit quick.
Marco doesn’t say anything. Eli softly wonders if he’s disappointed, but he brushes it off as something that surprised him. He drops a little bit of news—he and Levi were once friends. Of course, Eli can’t help but feel interested. She tries to get Marco to explain, but he avoids the subject by saying they simply grew apart while they were children, hiding something from her.
Moving on, Eli talks about how her grandma judges her and doesn’t understand who she is. Marco gives wise advice, urging her to try to understand the situation from Grandma’s viewpoint. Maybe it’s just anxiety or concern that’s making her this way. He encourages Eli to let things settle, as family, with all its drama, always wants you to be happy. Eli thanks Marco for being the therapist she didn’t realize she had. Just as they are wrapping up, Eli’s mother shows up to pick her up. The Dickheads Chapter 24 ends with emotional clarity, unspoken truths, and the quiet comfort of a friend who listens.
The Dickheads Chapter 25: Filling In Uncomfortable Silences

The Dickheads Chapter 25 begins with Eli texting Levi in the car while Marco sits beside her. After teasing Levi that he should join them next time for babysitting duties, she looks over and tells Marco it’s Levi she’s talking to. Marco isn’t happy and mumbles that it will feel weird. Eli dismisses it, saying they all need to get along better, with her and her grandma and the boys amongst themselves.
Marco reconsiders and says maybe it wouldn’t be that bad. At the same time, Marco’s mom quietly drives ahead, watching their friendship, and tenderly asks Eli to call her “mom” just before dropping her off at home.
At home, Eli realizes that her grandma is trying to read her phone’s cracked screen in annoyance. She quickly points out it’s only the screen protector and politely apologizes for everything that happened. She encourages her grandma to put her faith in her and proposes meeting Levi. Even though she’s not sure what to do, Grandma listens—something is starting to change. The Dickheads Chapter 25 ends with bridges being built, one cautious step—and one cracked screen—at a time.
Chapter 26: Old Flames, New Burns

The Dickheads Chapter 26 begins with Amy spiraling into her usual Levi-love-crisis mode. She is walking around the school, thinking over and over about Levi and whether he ever loved her or has moved on. She feels her emotions burst when she hears Marco and Eli confirm that Eli and Levi are dating. Gasp, gasp, gasp—Amy’s life breaks apart.
Amy quickly goes to see Levi, looking sad and trying to act as if she’s happy for him. But she lets her worry show—she tells him that Eli and Marco are very close, which could mean problems. After her drama-spilling session is over, Levi dismisses her and leaves. Amy is standing by herself, perplexed and hurt, and is most definitely not the main character anymore.
At the very moment she’s feeling low, one of Levi’s friends drops by to start some trouble. Amy gets a smirk from him, who says he is “hard to bring under control.” Amy, as always, doesn’t hold back and replies by accusing him of being a drug addict. He smiles, leaves, and tells her plainly: she can’t control Levi. The Dickheads Chapter 26 ends with Amy realizing that love—especially Levi’s—isn’t something she can leash, no matter how hard she tries.
The Dickheads Chapter 27: Hurting Egos

The Dickheads Chapter 27 begins with Eli and Marco enjoying a lighthearted moment, bonding over his drawings. They’re enjoying themselves, joking around and looking happy, but Levi is watching sadly from a distance. He leaves with a sad smile.
Once Eli is gone, Marco starts to wonder what it is about Levi that Eli likes so much. He thinks that Levi’s moods resemble a ticking time bomb, but Eli is always cheerful and funny. He starts thinking about how he would treat her nicer and be the better guy for her. Cue harsh reality lighting in his mind. Suddenly, Levi grabs him from behind with anger and drags him away to talk.
Cue awkward silence. Levi breaks his silence: he doesn’t really like the close relationship between Marco and Eli. He is hoping Marco will leave her alone. Even though Marco is shocked by the sudden accusation, Marco tells Levi not to throw his insecurities at him like dodgeballs. He asks Levi to tell Eli about them instead. Levi almost gets angry, making fists, but then he calms down and breathes out slowly.
Levi says he’s not angry about Eli’s actions but about the way Marco looks at her. He leaves with a hard shove, leaving Marco so quiet that the tension is so thick, one could use a butter knife to cut it. The Dickheads Chapter 27 ends with bruised pride, unsaid feelings, and a brooding storm brewing between two boys who care a little too much.
Chapter 28: The Old Wounds of History

The Dickheads Chapter 28 begins with Marco furiously glaring at his canvas, paintbrush frozen midair like it’s staging a protest. In any situation, Marco can’t stop his mind from going over Levi’s insistence that he should stay away from Eli. Marco explodes with anger—how can Levi take control over Marco’s relationships and who he is friends with? How can he act like he owns both everything and Eli? Marco is taken back by his past memories of little-himself crying when little Levi comforted him and said, “I’ll be with you.” Where did they go from helping to hurting one another?
Presently, Marco hurries home, tears almost spilling out, and slams the door when he enters his room. His mother stands there, shaking and crying out, her heart wrenched by the pain she sees in her son. Yet, Marco simply lies down on his bed, feeling too much, trying to hold himself in place with the remains of his heart.
At that moment, his phone starts beeping. It turns out to be Eli sending a message that she’s getting her car and asking if he would like to go grocery shopping together this afternoon. Marco looks at the text, feeling both a wish to see her and a sense of guilt inside him. He answers sadly that he can’t help. The Dickheads Chapter 28 ends with unresolved pain, a friendship fractured, and a boy trapped between what once was and what might never be again.
The Dickheads Chapter 29: Game Over, Dad’s Here

The Dickheads Chapter 29 begins with Levi gaming furiously with Nindo, his friend. But even virtual victories can’t shut down the guilt loop playing in his head. He asks Nindo if perhaps he was too critical of Marco the last time they met. Nindo shrugs, and Levi mumbles that he feels so bad because their first real conversation in ages ended so badly. He is so frustrated that he actually pulls out his hair. Shocked, Nindo takes his hands and tells him not to hurt himself, even if he is angry or upset.
He shares with Nindo that he is acing Spanish, the language he’s learning. Yet, before the feeling changes, his father begins to pound on the door. Levi says that he probably figured out he missed class. Nindo is surprised by what he sees. “You skipped? Knowing the way he is??” It looks like a horror movie is starting.
Dad enters, making Nindo run out of the house like a squirrel that’s scared. His father is furious, scolding him for getting poor grades, missing classes, and possibly ruining any chance of going to college. Levi tries to explain that he’s doing well in Spanish, but Dad isn’t listening. Levi cries, shouting at his father to leave him. His dad finally leaves, not before calling him useless.
Levi starts to cry and starts hyperventilating badly. He’s about to lose control when he hears Eli’s words: “Count to three.” The Dickheads Chapter 29 ends with Levi softly crying, trying to piece himself back together—one breath at a time.
