Refund High School never fails to fascinate and the last few chapters were the prime example. In the previous chapters, we explored A LOT – from Reincarnation High competition to HELL of a field trip. And in this roller-coaster trip, Aru discovers a shocking secret. Learning Aru Kim is missing, Mook goes out to find her, and in order to rescue her from the evil spirit he shows his real self. Yes, Aru finally finds out Mook is a sea serpent. However, both of them are in danger now and I cannot wait to find out what happens. Let’s begin!
Refund High School Chapter 50: Who is Grim Reaper?
Refund High School Chapter 50 begins in the middle of Mook and the evil spirit’s fight. While being held by the evil spirits, Aru Kim uses the ethics teacher’s advice, “Just hold your breath and the infernal spirit won’t be able to take your memories.” As a result, the infernal spirit can no longer hold Aru and releases her, and then Mook manages to hold her. The scene is now even more tense, and there are small parts of black evil energy all around.
Suddenly, one of them strikes Mook and he collapses and converts into the human form, shocking Aru Kim. She is both shocked and stressed because she is unaware of how to make things right. The whole atmosphere slowly changes into a blue-colored chamber covering Aru and Mook from all sides. And then enters the Grim Reaper aka the History teacher, marking Refund High School Chapter 50 as the most suspenseful conclusion of any chapter yet.
Refund High School Chapter 51: Power of the Reaper
Refund High School Chapter 51 begins with the Grim Reaper standing with his scythe asking the evil energy who has sent him there. However, the evil energy refuses to answer it till the Reaper uses his weapon to divide it into pieces. As this scene moves forward, a humungous reddish-orange monster appears from beneath. “So, it was you all along, HAURES!! A Mid-class spirit like you doesn’t scare me!!” Oh, that was a big statement there! I like the confidence here though!
With all his powers, the Reaper whacks his weapon around the monster. The scene grows more intense and I especially love the visuals here! He announces “I call upon the souls from the depth of the abyss! Answer the call of the Grim Reaper. For disturbing the order of the spiritual realm, by the authority bestowed upon me, the grim reaper, I hereby sentence you to be sealed away in the grave of pitch darkness!!” That was a hell of a dialogue!! (Pun intended again) The screen turns pitch-white and with that, the chapter ends.
Refund High School Chapter 52: Aru Is Now Keeping Two Secrets
Refund High School Chapter 52 begins with the Grim Reaper saving Aru and Mook. He says, “I know Aru you must have a lot of questions but first, let’s take Mook to the camp and then we will continue.”
After giving Mook the required treatment in the hospital, they settle down a bit. Then Aru Kim asks, “Sir who really are you?” The history teacher replies, “Guiding the souls from the land of living to the Underworld, that’s what I do!” Aru further asks, “Then what are you doing in Reincarnation High?” He lifts his shirt and says, “You see this (the signs in the above picture), it’s because of a mistake I made, a burden to wear for all eternity, but I have no regrets.” He further continues, “Please keep all of this a secret! And take rest!”
Aru thinks of changing Mook’s head towel to help with the fever but as soon as she comes close, Mook opens his eyes and now both of them are in an awkward situation. Mook asks Aru Kim to come closer and she is all red, blushing! He brings out the blue clip that was on Aru’s head before she lost it and puts it on her hair. The chapter ends with such an adorable scene, quite different from how it started.
Refund High School Chapter 53: Reincarnation High Picture
Refund High School Chapter 53 begins with everyone welcoming back Aru. The history teacher announces, “Some students went out of the quarters last night and we decided to shorten the schedule so this is the last day of your field trip! For those of you who left their room Last Night the school will give each of you 50 hours of mandatory sanitation duty according to the school regulation! And also, your class president is not feeling well, so he can’t make it today.” However, Mook enters the scene stating, “I’m fine!” What a strong soul, I mean he might be the creator’s favorite character!
The ethics teacher and the history teacher discuss the field trip and how unfortunate it is that it is the last day of class 4. Then they go on about how it has already been a year and the history teacher has finished his penalty so he will likely quit teaching. To which he replies, “I don’t know yet.” Suddenly, a comet is visible in the sky. So, the history teacher decides to click the moment and summons the students and also the ethics teacher.
The students request him to be in the photograph as well. Being a member of the photography club, Gunn volunteers to click the picture. However, Aru Kim believes he should also be in the frame and says, “I will click the picture as I know a trick! She clicks the camera button and tries to return to the position as fast as possible. But the camera falls and now we have a slanted picture of The Reincarnation High students.

Refund High School Chapter 54
Refund High School Chapter 54 begins with the teachers discussing how the history teacher’s 50 years are almost over. Dicarius asks him whether he has told Mook about it and he replies, “Not yet, I should tell him soon!”
In the next scene, the history teacher announces, “Do you see the paper on your desk? Write down the name of a classmate who you think was your secret buddy, then the judge box here will tell you if you are right or wrong. Take a good Guess. Whoever guesses correctly will get a capsule that reduces the weight of your soul!”
Who is Aru’s Secret Buddy?
In Refund High School Chapter 54, we will finally get to learn who is Aru’s secret buddy. She tries to recall the melon bun and the photograph and surprisingly both of them connect to Mook. She thinks this might be the right answer and guess what? It is the correct answer. The siren turns on shocking Aru. Even after a minute when the siren doesn’t go off, the senior says that it will only turn off when she dances with her secret buddy. (But we know it’s a lie!)
As Mook enters the room, everybody is vouching for them to dance together. Both of them are in a cute but awkward situation. However, the ethics teacher enters the room and the siren automatically goes off, saving Aru Kim and Mook. She then proceeds to ask for the task – ‘Untying the yarn’ which is due tomorrow, and it seems like only Mari is still stuck with the yarn.
In the next scene, Mook enters his room and it is all crystal clean. Then the history teacher enters and asks him to eat the food. He then continues, “You can take care of yourself, right? As of this week, I will be leaving the Reincarnation High.” Hearing this Mook replies, “If so, why didn’t you tell me sooner you could have at least given me a heads up!” He explains, “Because that wouldn’t have made any difference!” A very upset Mook asks, “Where will you go?” – “Back to where I came from!”
Refund High School Chapter 55: History Teacher
Refund High School Chapter 55 begins with the history teacher announcing, “This week, I will be leaving the reincarnation high, as I have completed my 50 years of teaching in the Underworld and I am grateful that I had the privilege to teach you guys…” This certainly upsets the students, especially Sua.
Later, the ethics teacher explains the deal with the knots. The knots are related to the karma of the previous life, the worse karma, the harder it would be to undo those notes.
Mari asks the ethics teacher, “What are the sins that I have done in my previous life to have so many knots?” The teacher replies, “Let’s see, this is for when you tripped the friend, this is for when you made the other friends hate each other.” She also consoles, “Mari, everybody makes mistakes, the important thing is that you acknowledge them and try to fix them. You still have two more Underworlds left right!”
The students decide to make something special as a goodbye note. So, they all enter his office, with a quirky artwork saying – ‘Please don’t go! Are you really living? Mascot of class number 4! Handsome history teacher!’
The next scene is a flashback, “You want me to become a teacher, I can’t! I watched them die with my own eyes, how could I?” King Yemma explains, “Reaper! you have broken the most important rule in the Underworld, did I not tell you that no one can interfere with the life and death of the mortals? Your punishment for taking the wrong lives shall be 50 years at the Reincarnation High! I appoint you as a history teacher who will teach life and death to the students.”
Refund High School Chapter 56: Mari’s Past LifeÂ
Refund High School Chapter 56 begins with the ethics teacher and the history teacher discussing Mari’s previous life. She says, “It’s about Mari. I happened to see her previous life and it seemed like she lived her life so selfishly unlike the other students at Reincarnation High, I don’t know how she even ended here.”
Then they watch a clip from Mari’s past life. In the first scene, Mari watches Sehui opening a box of jewellery and there are beautiful earrings inside, better than what she had. She feels jealous and steals it from Sehui. She says, “However, it looks better on me, so what’s the point?”
In the next scene, they are in front of King Yemma discussing whether they should complete 3 years in the Underworld, so they could have the chance to be reborn. The ethics teacher and history teacher look at each other and have the same thought that the evil spirits might dwell on objects that people cherish but this case is new.
In the next scene, the students assemble in the auditorium and the music teacher announces the beginning of a new year.
The first ceremony is the Ghostagram Star Awards ceremony. And, as expected, the winner is Gunn Ryu. Refund High School Chapter 56 ends with Mook and the history teacher. He asks Mook, “Are you feeling better now? You wouldn’t even look me in the eyes earlier!” Mook replies, “I just thought that you would be my side forever, it’s not your fault, I was being immature!” The teacher replies, “How can I leave you behind?!!” and gives Mook the warmest hug.
Overall
I loved how the creator paid attention to every minute detail in every situation, and how we went from the hell beneath, to missing the history teacher, who was about to leave the school. Refund High School is back on its path and I am willing to give up my sleep to keep reading it. Let me know what you think about this fantasy manhwa.
