Our Walk Home Chapter 1-8 follows Akihiko Shiraishi, who seems to be living the perfect life, excelling in academics, sports, and popularity. But beneath the manicured exterior lies an awkward, reserved teenager struggling to live up to everyone’s expectations. His world is further complicated when he meets Harumi Kurose. He is a prodigy from a rival school whose opponent is notoriously distant and inaccessible. Initially enemies, their paths cross several times, revealing cracks in Harumi’s cold character and shared weaknesses in both of them. Could their rivalry turn into something deeper, or are they destined to remain distant stars?
Higasa High School and Suisha Academy’s Conflict
Our Walk Home Chapter 1: Suisha’s Guardian Angel
Our Walk Home Chapter 1 opens with a fierce rivalry between the two schools, with conflicts often turning into full blown brawls. Amidst this tension, something unexpected shows up—two students from rival schools appear in each other’s arms, surprising everyone.
Fast forward to the present day at Suisha Academy, where the air buzzes with anticipation as exam results are announced. The school’s star student, Akihiko Shiraishi, wins the day with an impressive 470 marks. His accomplishments underscore his reputation among his peers as “the perfect person”—talented, hardworking, and seemingly flawless. Teachers and classmates are celebrating his success, proud to represent their faculty. Although Akihiko has a smile on his face, he remains silent that he will work harder to maintain his image.
After the excitement subsides, Akihiko slips into the empty room. He moves away from the crowd, letting his face fade for a moment. He admits to himself that the pressure of perfection feels like his throat, a burden he struggles to carry. Loneliness brings relief, but his mind is still clouded by self-doubt.
As Akihiko begins to regain his composure, a classmate interrupts him, excitedly pointing out a remarkable discovery. Another student from the rival school, Harumi Kurose, has also scored 470. The news sends shock waves through Akihiko—Kurose’s name is well known. He is not only a rival but a long-term troublemaker between the two academies.
Our Walk Home Chapter 1 ends with this new revelation making Akihiko nervous. The idea of sharing your conversation with someone else, especially someone from their rival school, evokes a mixture of emotions—curiosity, frustration, maybe even a little suspicion. He knows the competition is far from over.

Chapter 2: Akihiko Meets Kurose
Our Walk Home Chapter 2 begins with Akihiko still reeling from the reveal of Harumi Kurose’s perfect score. He tries to calm down, but the shock lingers. His classmate notices his reaction and says: “You know him, don’t you? That’s Kurose. But don’t let him scare you—he’s not a good guy.” He goes on to say that Kurose is insensitive, showing no emotion or compassion.
Comparing himself to Harumi, he assures himself that warmth, kindness, and athleticism set him apart. His opponent, however, stirs up his determination to work harder. Later, we see Akihiko on the train at Ekodani Station. He sits quietly, lost in thought, and concocts a way to defeat Kurose and ensure the victory of his school. His determination grows stronger with each passing moment—he will push himself to beat Kurose no matter what.
As the train pulls into the next station, Akihiko is shocked to see no one but Harumi standing nearby. The mysterious antagonist is only a few steps away, quiet and calm. Akihiko freezes, unsure of how to react. As the train slows and the doors open, Kurose pulls away, causing Akihiko to stare back.
Akihiko gets off the train and walks over to Kurose, who suddenly turns around and winks at him. “Suisha Academy uniform, right?” Kurose asks, his expression unreadable. Akihiko was a bit surprised but confirms.
Our Walk Home Chapter 2 ends with Harumi politely bowing down his head and greeting him in a neutral tone.
Our Walk Home Chapter 3: See You Tomorrow
Our Walk Home Chapter 3 opens with Akihiko and Kurose walking together, and their conversation begins hesitantly. The latter breaks the silence, “So, how did you find me? It’s like you already know me.”
Akihiko turns for an answer, feeling the awkwardness of the situation. “Well, I think I’ve heard a lot about you. But isn’t that amazing?” He admits with a nervous smile. Kurose looks up, a faint smile on his lips. “Incompetent? It might be. But it’s not intolerable.”
Akihiko changes the conversation as he tries to steer it to where he is most comfortable. “You’re Japanese, aren’t you?” he asks the question. Kurose pauses before answering, “My mother is Japanese and my father is American.” This revelation catches Akihiko off guard, but he quickly recovers. “Oh, that’s cool. So, are you doing any punches?”
Kurose nods his head. “Yes. I belong to the American-English debate team.” His tone is casual, but Akihiko can’t help but feel jealous for a moment at Kurose’s seemingly effortless perfection. Their rivalry is still in the background, but they begin to show camaraderie. Finally, Akihiko asks, “So, we’re sworn enemies, right? Does that mean this is the last time we’ll talk?”
Our Walk Home Chapter 3 ends with Kurose glaring at him, his expression unreadable. After a moment, he rubs his hands. “Sworn enemies?” That’s a surprise. But I think we will see each other again.” His answer was short, almost sarcastic, and Akihiko didn’t know how to interpret it.
Chapter 4: Shiraishi Home
Our Walk Home Chapter 4 begins with Akihiko returning home, still thinking about his unexpected interaction with Kurose. When he puts his bag down, he is exceptionally excited at the thought of seeing Kurose again the next day. A small smile appears on his face as he realizes how wonderful this new feeling of anticipation is.
The next day, the atmosphere at school is tense. Two boys argue heatedly in the courtyard, and their fight escalates as a crowd gathers to watch. Akihiko sees the commotion and feels like getting involved but hesitates. He doesn’t know how to handle the situation without making it worse.
Before Akihiko can act, student council vice president Minori arrives on the scene. Confident but obviously frustrated, he tries to intervene, but the boys ignore him and continue their shouting. Minori sighs and walks beside Akihiko, clearly seeing him in the crowd. “Shouldn’t you do something?” he asks, crossing his arms. Akihiko scratches the back of his head, not knowing what to do. The two start talking, and their shared frustration with the war breaks the ice between them.
Our Walk Home Chapter 4 ends with the conversation, Minori recounts a long-standing rivalry at school between the boys involved in the war. He points out that such struggles are not uncommon, especially because of the stress that Higasa students bring into the mix. Akihiko nods thoughtfully, noticing how far the opponents run.
Our Walk Home Chapter 5: Let’s Walk
Our Walk Home Chapter 5 begins with Akihiko on the train, obsessed with the foolishness of the students in his class. With the headphones, he tries to block out the noise around him, focusing on his music as a way to escape the frustration. Suddenly, a sound broke through the music. “Hey.”
Akihiko looks up to see Kurose standing next to him, calm and composed as ever. His unexpected presence startles Akihiko, but he nods politely and pulls out his headphones. Without saying much, the two start walking down the rails together.
After a moment of silence, Akihiko can’t help but smile. He turns to Kurose and asks, “So, are you from England? I thought I heard that yesterday.” Kurose looks at him with a weak amused smile. “No, I’m from America,” he replies softly. “I just said that yesterday, remember?”
They walk in silence for a while, and Akihiko asks how he feels about being a top student. Kurose withdraws his hand slightly, his indifference apparent. “It’s nothing special,” he says. Akihiko is shocked at Kurose’s indifferent attitude.
“This is Skihor,” Kurose explains. “He’s lively, outgoing, the kind of person people expect the ‘top student’ to be—someone who stands out.” Akihiko looks at the picture of Skihor, noting the contrast between Kurose’s cool demeanor and Skihor’s vibrant personality.
Our Walk Home Chapter 5 ends with Akihiko wondering what kind of person he truly wants to be in the midst of all the competition.
Chapter 6: Off to the School
Our Walk Home Chapter 6 begins with Akihiko waking up late for school. His parents, as usual, are already up. His sister calls, “Akihiko, are you skipping breakfast again?”
Akihiko sighs, running his fingers through his hair as he picks up his bag. “I don’t have time today, Mom.” His mother always goes down the road worried about his health and says, “Well, at least I’m coming with you. I have to buy some things.”
Akihiko shook his head, eager to avoid delay. “I’ll be fine. You don’t have to come with me.” With that, he quickly heads out the door, leaving his mother to plan her shopping.
At school, Akihiko eats lunch alone, his mind occupied with the day ahead. He can’t help but think of Kurose, the odd rivalry between the two still in his mind. After lunch, he heads to the station to catch his train, hoping for a peaceful drive home.
When Akihiko docks, he immediately notices Kurose standing next to the platform, looking as calm as ever. Kurose recognizes him almost immediately and approaches Akihiko without any hesitation. They greet each other subtly, both aware of the tension between them, but surprisingly comfortable in each other’s presence.
Our Walk Home Chapter 6 ends with the two decide to go together to a nearby coffee shop and decide to settle in for a quiet cup of coffee. The conversation flows more easily than before, and Akihiko begins to feel less hostile.
Our Walk Home Chapter 7: Who is Bunny?
Our Walk Home Chapter 7 begins with Akihiko and Kurose sitting in a coffee shop, their casual conversation is interrupted when Akihiko reaches for his wallet, realizing he doesn’t have any cards or money. He panics as he looks in his pocket many times his face turned pale with shame.
“Forgot your card and money?” Kurose asks, amusement in his voice. He leans back in his chair and smiles softly. “Well, I guess we’re stuck here now.” Akihiko sighs, burying his face in his hands. “This is a disaster. We’re in chains!” He mutters under his breath, completely downcast. Before the situation can escalate, a happy voice behind them shouts. “Hey, Bunny!” he said.
Akihiko freezes in his seat, recognizing the voice immediately. She slowly turns to look at his older sister who smiles widely as she approaches. “Why are you calling me that in public?” he sighs in embarrassment.
Unperturbed, his sister twirls his hair playfully. “Oh, come on, you’re just my little bunny!” She laughs at his oddness. She then looks up to see Kurose sitting across the table, “And who is this?”
Kurose stands up politely and greets him in a calm, respectful voice. “I am Kurose,” he introduces himself, bowing slightly. Akihiko watches in disbelief as his sister’s demeanor changes, clearly liking his attitude.
“Well, it’s nice to meet someone with such good manners,” he says, looking sarcastically at his younger brother. After paying for their drinks and chatting for a while, she bids them farewell and leaves with a wave.
Our Walk Home Chapter 7 ends with she disappears down the street, Akihiko falls back in his chair and mutters, “Why does she always do this?” Kurose laughs, “She’s like a hurricane—coming in, stirring everything up” Then he turns to Akihiko with a mischievous glint in his eye. “So… Bunny, huh?” “Don’t start,” Akihiko groans, but the awkwardness quickly fades when Kurose suggests they exchange numbers. They share their contact details, and the moment feels strangely like the beginning of something new.
Our Walk Home Chapter 8: Another Love Letter
Our Walk Home Chapter 8 begins with Akihiko sitting at his desk in the morning looking at his phone. Another message arrives from Kurose: “Got another love letter today. That’s three this week.”
“Those poor girls,” he sighs, their conversation is interrupted when two of Akihiko’s classmates, Ono and Furuta, burst into the classroom, their energy constantly turbulent. “Yoo, Shiraishi! What about the dream state? Someone special to teach?” Ono scoffs, leaning against his desk.
“Yes, throw the beans!” Furuta says even though he is surprised. Before Akihiko can object, the two of them drag him into the cafeteria for lunch. They sit at a table, and Ono and Furuta talk nonstop while he tries to carry on a conversation.
Give It Back!
Ono walks across the table, grabbing Akihiko’s phone from him. “Let’s see what you’re so worried about!” “Hey, give it back!” Akihiko cries out, his heart pounding. He fumbles for his phone, but Furuta stops him laughing. “Wow, good luck! What’s the big deal? Have you got anything to hide?” Furuta smiles as Ono goes through Akihiko’s messages with fake-seriousness.
The others lean against the table, curiosity kindled. “Is there a girl there? Oooh, she must be beautiful!” Someone screams, and soon the whole group is hallucinating. Akihiko sighs, his face turning red. He’s on the verge of panic when a tall, handsome student walks up and casually grabs the phone from Ono.
Our Walk Home Chapter 8 ends with Akihiko heading to his next class. He overhears a group of students talking about someone named Kimura. Curious but unsure why it matters, Akihiko keeps walking, his mind still replaying the chaos of the day.

Quickies
The dynamics between Akihiko and Kurose evolve throughout the chapters—what begins as a rivalry starts to hint at a deeper, more personal connection, especially as their encounters become more frequent. Their moments of awkwardness and unexpected camaraderie add a layer of charm to the story, showing that even amidst competition, there's room for understanding and growth.
Akihiko's internal struggles with the expectations placed on him, as well as his interactions with Kurose, feel very relatable. He’s trying to live up to the image of the perfect student while dealing with feelings of loneliness and self-doubt. Kurose, on the other hand, appears as a character who is seemingly indifferent to the pressures around him, but as we get more glimpses of his personality, there's more to him than meets the eye.
The introduction of secondary characters, like Minori and Akihiko's sister, adds more depth to the world and brings some humor to the story. I particularly liked how Akihiko’s sister playfully calls him "Bunny," adding a nice personal touch to his character, and how Kurose interacts with her in a way that contrasts Akihiko’s more awkward responses.
