Operation True Love Chapter 0 kicks off with Su-ae Shim engaged in a discussion forum about love, claiming that it’s something destined at birth. Several responses follow, mentioning looks and popularity and cliche responses. She picks up her distinctive pink flip phone, displaying points assigned to each student in front of her. These points represent the amount of love each person is meant to receive in their lifetime. In this world where being loved is seen as a skill and an asset, our protagonist finds herself at the very bottom of the love ladder. Operation True Love Chapter 0 sets the stage for Su-ae’s exploration of love.
Chapter 1: Toxic Relationship of Su-ae And Minu
Operation True Love Chapter 1 begins with Su-ae acknowledging the harsh reality that nobody will ever fall in love with her. A flashback now transports us two weeks back, revealing her deep affection for her boyfriend, Minu Kang, who seems indifferent to her feelings (much like Aru and Gunn’s relationship from Refund High School). Her boyfriend often ignores her and doesn’t take their relationship seriously. She finds joy in even the smallest display of affection, drawing criticism from the girls in her class for having no self-respect. In a moment of crisis, Eunhyeok Go, a boy with black hair and lilac eyes, one of Minu’s friends, steps in to save the day, but his presence makes her feel uncomfortable.
Operation True Love Chapter 2: Enter Ra-im Yu
Operation True Love Chapter 2 begins with Su-ae recounting her story, leading us to a flashback in early March when she meets her step-sister, Ra-im Yu, in front of a convenience store. She is the polar opposite of our purple-haired protagonist, boasts blonde hair and doll-like features, and is an all-rounder. Su-ae believes Eunhyeok likes her foster sister and holds her in high regard. We learn about Ra-im’s painful background, where her father deserted her mother the moment he discovered she was pregnant, leaving her mother to struggle alone. Her mother tragically died in an accident, but the sisters have a strong bond and care for each other.
Returning to the present, we learn Su-ae has a negative impression of Eunhyeok, perceiving him as cold and aloof, especially towards her. One day, as they headed to school, both girls realized they had forgotten their ties. Fearing the strict disciplinary committee, they accidentally bump into Eunhyeok. He hands Ra-im his tie, ignoring Su-ae, leading to her running three extra laps as punishment. Afterward, when she collects things from her locker, she discovers a mysterious Jellypop phone. Her initial thought was if it belonged to Eunhyeok, as he was the only one with that phone. To her surprise, the phone began sending her messages and displaying images of herself. Perplexed, she approaches the guy, seeking an explanation for the mysterious phone and the photos of herself.

Feeling disappointed, she catches Eunhyeok’s attention, who asks her curiously, “What do you even like about that guy?” She bristles at the question and snaps, telling him it’s none of his business.
Later, at home, she discloses the situation with the enigmatic phone to Ra-im. Su-ae begins to suspect that Eunhyeok is lying about not owning the phone. On the following day, due to the rain, they held their Physical Education class indoors. Her disappointment deepened when she was partnered with Eunhyeok instead of her boyfriend, Minu. Surprisingly, her boyfriend appeared quite cheerful with his own partner. During the game, Su-ae and Eunhyeok engage in a harmless banter, but to her dismay, Minu instructs his teammates to target her. She is frustrated with his lack of concern for her feelings. Her boyfriend aims for her with the ball, but Eunhyeok steps in and shields her from the incoming shot. Infuriated, she aims and throws the ball at Minu’s partner, accidentally hitting her on the head. Her boyfriend berates her for this action.

Frustrated, Su-ae accuses him of using the jellypop phone to mock her and demands that he address her directly if he has something to say.
She storms off, unwilling to confront the situation any further. She sends her sister a text message, excusing herself from their outing. That night, she finds solace in the playground, hiding inside a slide, her thoughts consumed by her sister and boyfriend’s secret affair. Deep down, she knows that what she witnessed was all too real. She is determined to confront her stepsister, but her hesitation prevails. Reminiscing her sister’s tragic past, she feels an acute sense of sympathy towards her. However, as she heads to school together with Minu and Ra-im, she finally comes to terms with the reality of the situation. Overcome with emotion, she excuses herself and makes her way back.
After reaching school late, she notices the disciplinary head being unusually strict with late students. He mistakenly assumes that she has broken up with Minu, which leaves her feeling uneasy as she hasn’t actually clarified the situation to him yet. As Su-ae attempts to help Eunhyeok climb over the wall, he declines and entrusts her with his bag. En route to class, she trips, causing the phone to spill from the bag, but thankfully, it remains unharmed.
Upon reaching her classroom, Su-ae hesitates to enter, haunted by the traumatic memory of witnessing her boyfriend and sister in a compromising position.
