Operation: True Love has reached another dramatic point with Dohwa Baek realizing he has feelings for Su-ae. In the previous chapters, to cool down the escalating rumours surrounding Su-ae, Dohwa and Eunhyeok pretend to be close friends. This closeness makes Dohwa realize he sees her as more than just a friend. On the other hand, Eunhyeok plays the right cards and stops the rumours about Su-ae forever. Let’s see what will happen in Operation True Love Chapter 72-76 without further ado.
Eunhyeok’s Affection | Dohwa’s Jealousy
Operation True Love Chapter 72: Pretty Dog
Operation True Love Chapter 72 begins with Eunhyeok apologizing to Su-ae for Minu’s dramatic apology in the classroom. He explains how Minu acted when he asked him to apologize, and Su-ae thinks he beat him up. He clarifies that he only punched him once, but it wasn’t him who beat him up that badly. If Eunhyeok wasn’t the sweetest already, this apology definitely makes him the sweetest. He stammers apologetically, saying he should have asked her first before taking this action. He adds that he was certain she wouldn’t let him do it and wanted to teach Minu a lesson.
In response to his apology, Su-ae grabs his face with both of her palms and asks, “What about you? Did he hit you?” (Yes, we have another Su-ae and Eunhyeok adorable moment!) “No” – “That’s a relief.” Su-ae offers him a cream bun, “For clearing up my name and worrying about me.” With an adorable face, he takes a bit of it, which compels her to ruffle his hair. He asks, “What am I a dog?” Making the moment hilarious, she asks, “Paw!”
Su-ae thinks if spending time with Eunhyeok and being close to him invites something bad, she doesn’t want to think about it and just be in this moment.
Su-ae And Dohwa’s Friendship
In the next scenario of Operation True Love Chapter 72, while Su-ae and her friend are going to the academy, they see someone in a pig costume trying to give fliers. Seeing no one is taking flyers from him, Su-ae approaches him to grab and flier. She asks for ten more, and Dohwa mentions her name without removing her pig mask. She immediately recognises his voice, making him proud in a smug way.
Dohwa explains that this job is like a punishment for something his boss asked him to do, but he ignored it. Meanwhile, Su-ae’s friend summons her, informing they will be late for class. Although she starts walking towards the academy with her friend, she just can’t leave Dohwa alone dripping in that suit all alone. Su-ae thinks his manager has something against him, but Dohwa thinks he is just jealous. (What did I say? Proud as hell, but it suits him.) Operation True Love Chapter 27 ends with Su-ae wearing the pig costume to help Dohwa with the fliers.
Chapter 73: Eunhyeok Piggy-Backing Su-ae
Operation True Love Chapter 73 begins with Su-ae and Dohwa ready for the flyer mission. After delivering fliers before Dohwa, she sits with her tired legs on a park bench, and at that moment, Eunhyeok arrives. When she goes back to the manager, the staff informs her he has locked and left already. Now Su-ae has no option but to wear that pig costume to home. Eunhyeok insists on checking if they have another key because she can’t walk home like that. However, she resists saying it’s completely fine and stumbles and falls in the next second. (Great job Su-ae!)
Eunhyeok gives a piggyback ride to Su-ae, but he is awfully quiet, which makes her wonder if he is angry. In the next dialogue, he expresses his concern and care for Su-ae, stealing the reader’s hearts. He says, “I’d rather you be more worried about your uniform than your friend getting scolded. And that you prioritized your art classes over helping them at their part-time job. And focus on your own hurt feelings first before thinking about Ra-im. What I mean is you should put yourself first.” He further continues, “It’s nice being considerate and kind, but you don’t seem to be very nice to yourself, you know that, right?”
Su-ae And Eunhyeok’s Confession
In the next scene of Operation True Love Chapter 73, Su-ae says she is selfish, and Eunhyeok asks her to do something bad. She says then he would stop liking her. Without hesitation, Eunhyeok admits she is the one who doesn’t know him, “Because I really like you. I like you, Su-ae.” Even though this is what she wanted to hear all this while, now the timing is not right. She asks him to put her down, and with a clenched fist, she says, “Wait for me…”
Su-ae can’t help but cry, which compels Eunhyeok to admit that he will wait. However, he wants to know why or how long it will take, so he is seeking some kind of explanation from her. He further asks her to give him a reason to wait. In response, Su-ae kisses his cheek and says, “I like you too. Is that reason enough to wait?” Operation True Love Chapter 73 ends with Eunhyeok placing his head on her shoulder, “Totally.”
Operation True Love Chapter 74: The Distance
Operation True Love Chapter 74 begins with Dohwa returning looking for Su-ae, but the staff she already left wearing the pig suit. He grabs her shoes and rushes to find her. He sees Eunhyeok piggybacking Su-ae.
In the next scene, Su-ae and Eunhyeok are talking over the phone regarding the distance they need to maintain. He asks if the reason behind this strict physical distance is the bus accident. She agrees it’s one of the reasons but restrains from elaborating. After listening to everything, Eunhyeok says, “I can wait.” (Why do I feel their story won’t be as smooth as it is now!) Su-ae suggests they should concentrate more on the upcoming exams.
The next day, while on her way to school, Su-ae texts Eunhyeok that she might be late, and he suggests that she take the bus. She realizes he is on the same bus and rushes to get down. However, before she could, Eunhyeok gets out of the bus, “I just want to walk a little” and waves her goodbye with a smile on his face. (What a charmer!)
In the next scene of Operation True Love Chapter 74, Su-ae grabs a soda can and wonders if Eunhyeok will find it in his locker. Suddenly, she sees Dohwa going towards the restroom. She asks if he reached home safely and did people stare at him for wearing the pig suit back home. But Dohwa didn’t say anything, just silently gave her shoes back. To Su-ae’s surprise, he opens “Cindy, the Black Rose of Versailles” and starts reading it. Operation True Love Chapter 74 ends with Su-ae grabbing Dohwa’s hands, “Why are you reading this?”
Chapter 75: Naïve Dohwa
Operation True Love Chapter 75 begins with Su-ae hugging Dohwa. In the back of her mind, she thinks of the Marang President. Now, the story behind the book is clearer to her. The President was the strange man who visited Dohwa at the Laundromat. He was reading this book and left it at Dohwa’s workplace along with the business card inside it. Bidding him goodbye, Su-ae leaves for class, but he grabs his hand, asking what she is doing after school.
Dohwa Baek is pissed at the new reading room guidelines because now male and female students will sit separately. This means that he can’t spend extra time with Su-ae. While he waits outside doing nothing, she texts him, asking if he is outside because the girls keep making excuses to go out of the class. So, Dohwa decides to read Cindy, the Black Rose of Versailles.
Romance In Rain
In the next scene of Operation True Love Chapter 75, Su-ae wonders how the exam period is like an exile, similar to what she and Eunhyeok are going through right now. Suddenly, she gets a call from him informing her he is outside the library waiting for her. The next scene is one of the most adorable moments of the Operation True Love webtoon, according to us. Waiting for her with an umbrella, Eunhyeok gestures to her to keep walking on that side of the road while he walks on this side. By doing this, he is following Su-ae ’s rule of maintaining distance and fulfilling his wish to drop her home. (Eunhyeok Go is a rare man!)
Eunhyeok insists that Su-ae let him have this moment at least. He says, “We can’t be close to one another, so I was trying to come up with ways we can still be together.” Operation True Love Chapter 75 ends with Dohwa intentionally dropping his umbrella and getting under the shade of Su-ae’s umbrella instead.
Operation True Love Chapter 76: Dohwa Vs Eunhyeok
“Are you really going to leave me, my love?” – Operation True Love Chapter 76 begins with Dohwa uttering these lines, which shocks both Eunhyeok and Su-ae. (It’s a line from the book he was reading earlier!) When she asks why he is addressing her as my love, he begins to talk about the male protagonist from the book, compelling her to put her hand on his mouth. (Oh right, Eunhyeok still doesn’t know about this book. Well, he doesn’t know anything about the Marang scenario, either! Hm, how will he handle these sudden revelations?)
Looking at the other side of the road and seeing Eunhyeok, Dohwa realizes Su-ae is talking to him on the phone. To make the situation weirder, he kisses her hand that was covering his mouth. Shocked, Su-ae asks why he is acting so weird. Not paying much heed to it, he asks. “Can I share your umbrella? I don’t have one.”
Understanding what Dohwa is trying to do, Eunhyeok asks Su-ae to put Dohwa on the phone. Expressing his passive aggression, he throws his umbrella on the street and asks Dohwa to take his umbrella if he needs one. “Enough, stop bothering Su-ae and just take it.” – “No, you take it.” Now we have a ‘toss your umbrella’ game on. Su-ae puts an end to it asking both of them to use the umbrella so no one catches cold, and Eunhyeok agrees.
Dohwa’s Jealousy
While walking, Su-ae asks Dohwa if he ever fought with Eunhyeok while they were in middle school or if something happened recently. Putting his smug face on, Dohwa says something very Dohwa-like, “It’s just something that happens between good-looking people.” He further adds Eunhyeok is nothing compared to him to which Su-ae remains quiet. She shifts the topic to his previous line from the book and asks if he is reading it religiously. She keeps chatting about the book and the characters and offers to give him the next volume of the story. He admits to liking the book and will take the next part.
Dohwa finally confronts Su-ae about why he left him alone. To which she says she dropped him a message. He mentions the time she went away without him after the flier task. (Dohwa, your jealousy is transparent!)
Operation True Love Chapter 76 ends with Su-ae trying to find a connection between Marang and Cindy, the Black Rose book. She finds out that the Marang President thinks it’s an “outdated” book. What more does he say about the book? We will find it out in our next chapter review.
