The tension between her friend and her date is now much easier to understand. All the pieces fall into place, and Cella realizes this is not simply a dispute, but a very old supernatural battle.
It seems like Kieran is about to confess everything, even the kiss, but Cella takes his reaction the wrong way. As soon as she hears about Mason, she says she’s ready to let him go and stands by her friend through thick and thin. She is aware of how much Kieran cares about werewolves because they took his mother’s life. His childhood was filled with troubling nightmares, trauma, and trust issues. When she tells him she is willing to let go of Mason, Kieran feels very uneasy. Could she live happily without him?
Hoping to ease her worries, Kieran insists to Cella that Mason doesn’t scare him. Pinky-promising to always be real, the friends make a pact, but Cella still holds him accountable. She tells him, he once said Mason was only using her to get back at him. She was really shaken up by that and doubted herself.
