Despite her strength, Apollo’s dismissive attitude escalates the tension, and when he refuses to pull over. Out of nowhere, Cerberus arrives and slams against the car, which is somewhat reassuring.

Persephone soothes Cerberus as she rests her head against him. The chapter emphasizes her deep love for the creatures of the Underworld, revealing the hidden power within her. The pretentious growl that Cerberus gives to Apollo states that he can sense the angry feelings of this God. To escape the sun god, she makes up an excuse to get Cerberus back to his place safely. The narration takes a different course, as Persephone and Cerberus play in a garden on a calm day. She orders Cerberus to return to the Underworld when the night time approaches. In the next scene, Hades is waiting for Cerberus. Lore Olympus Chapter 37 ends with a curious Hades confused about the flower necklace on his pet’s head.

Chapter 38: First Day of Internship

In Lore Olympus Chapter 38, Persephone experiences another nightmare that reflects her inner chaos. The day of her Underworld internship arrives, and she quickly prepares. She is in a hurry, but it all goes amiss when she sees Apollo at her place. His presence feels invasive, escalating as he manipulates the situation under the guise of having breakfast. Her discomfort is evident as he exhibits dismissive and controlling behavior.

Artemis enters and distracts the two by complimenting Persephone’s look. She faults Hera for the internship, saying she is being overly protective. An excited and vexed Apollo asks about Artemis’s comments. She discloses that it is Hera herself who is making Persephone take the internship.

Determined to escape Apollo, Persephone hurriedly heads to the train station. Suddenly, a strange man with pointed wings swoops in, yanking her back from the train. This unexpected turn of events ends Lore Olympus Chapter 38 with a suspenseful note.

Lore Olympus Chapter 39: Thanatos, The God of Death

In Lore Olympus Chapter 39, Thanatos visits the Underworld Corp to find Hades. Minthe, however, is unfazed as always as she calls Hades and states that ‘The God of Death’ wishes to see him. He wryly replies to the positive query, “I don’t want to meet Thanatos.” Ignoring this, Minthe instructs him to go to Hades’ office.

Once inside, the conversation shifts to Thanatos’s salary review. Hades consequently explains to Thanatos that he has posted workers to assist with his burden, which was contracted specifically to Hermes. And then proceeds to complain that there has been a drop in efficiency since Hermes was employed. This moment underlines Thanatos’s characteristic of offloading work without effectively managing it, which annoys Hades and further foreshadows future conflicts.

Meanwhile, Persephone is on her way to Underworld Corp, and on level 99, she runs into none other than Minthe. She attempts to flaunt her superiority over Persephone by icily telling her that she cannot run to Hades whenever she pleases. Persephone does not budge, claiming that Hera ordered her to meet Hades. Despite this information, she misleads the goddess of spring to the wrong section of the building. She unwittingly follows the model of Minthe’s scheming and strays too far away. Lore Olympus Chapter 39 ends in an ambiguous tone when she notices something lurking in the corner.

Chapter 40: Persephone in Tartarus

In Lore Olympus Chapter 40, Persephone is isolated and outnumbered. As the danger escalates and the skeletons begin tearing at her clothes, she taps into her magical powers, reflecting the raw potential she’s still learning to control.

Hades continues to talk about soul collection with Thanatos, revealing that Hermes collected an impressive 230 souls last month. Their talk turns sober when they get the news of a breach in Tartarus, and Hades’s blood freezes seeing Persephone in the broadcast. A thrilling rescue ensues as he rushes to find her amid the chaos. As he scans for her, her cry guides him to her, only to find another skull-looking creature strangling her neck.

After Hades rescues Persephone, she feels guilty for fussing over the chain of events and apologizes. But Hades comforts her and takes the blame on himself. This moment reveals a lot about his character—his readiness to usurp the burdens of guilt, foregoing all his arousal to Persephone and instead badgering himself with thoughts and regrets. Lore Olympus Chapter 40 concludes with a meaningful hug, showcasing their developing relationship that fans adore.

Lore Olympus Chapter 41: Minthe’s Jealousy

Lore Olympus Chapter 41 begins with a tranquil moment between Hades and Persephone during a scenic drive back to the office. Meanwhile, Hecate has been observing Persephone on screen, recognizing her as the Goddess of Spring.

In the next scene, when Thanatos asks about Persephone, Minthe downplays her importance by saying she is simply Hades’s friend’s daughter. However, Hecate corrects Minthe, revealing that Persephone is not just Demeter’s daughter but also a descendant of the Six Traitors Dynasty and the heiress to the Barley Mother’s fortune. Lore Olympus Chapter 41 concludes with Minthe feeling jealousy and rage as she sees Hades lift and carry Persephone through the shattered window. 

Chapter 42: Hades’s Inner Turmoil

Lore Olympus Chapter 42 begins with Hades examining himself and his inner emotions. He focuses on the fact that every time Persephone is near him, she always gets hurt. Eventually, he convinces himself that even if she wants him, he cannot allow her to carry his emotional burdens.

Moving on in the chapter, it is time for Persephone to tidy up things after their previous activities. Hades defends her, stating that she is in Tartarus, the most confined place in the Underworld, where even the monsters fear her as the fertility goddess. Hesitantly, she says no and then explains that if she were the goddess of fertility, then her mother would have told her that. Feeling that he perhaps overspoke, he quickly apologizes.

The plot thickens when Persephone shows an internship paper handed to her in the Underworld and tells him about the opportunity. But his reaction is the opposite of what she was expecting. Instead of rekindling Persephone’s hopes for career development, Hades asserts, “I’m sorry, this is out of the question.” This lapse in events raises eyebrows at the end of the Lore Olympus chapter 42.

Lore Olympus Chapter 43: Hades And Persephone 

In Lore Olympus Chapter 43, Persephone confronts Hades about her desire to intern in the Underworld. Hades, guilt-ridden and protective after the incident, argues that it is too dangerous for her and insists on finding a more suitable arrangement. Without yielding, Persephone suggests terms: if she loses a chess game, she forgets about the underworld internship; if Hades loses – she takes the internship. 

The chess game represents the gradual emergence of Persephone’s free spirit. During the duel, she indicates her wish to be different from her mother, Demeter. She states that being wealthy does not equal freedom and that her mother always promoted independence. When Persephone wins, Hades has no choice but to honor their deal, marking a significant victory for her autonomy. After the game, the snow starts falling, which is the first snow for Persephone. She finds the snow exciting despite her sheltered life.
