Girlfriend Manual Chapter 20: Calm And Collected Nico
Girlfriend Manual Chapter 20 begins with Nico playing with Nico. Suddenly, not with a whimper but with a bang, Mel and Athena enter, screaming, “NICO! CODE RED! Initiating emergency meeting.” With a lot of panic in his voice, he asks what’s going on. On the other hand, Athena has almost fainted. Nico asks if they tried to follow them. But, it was impossible considering Athena’s zombie state after seeing her crush with another woman. On the other hand, he doesn’t understand why they are freaking out so much. (It’s just one woman holding the hand of another woman!) Mel tries her best to insinuate that they were close. While Nico talks sense, saying perhaps they are friends or distant cousins. Her panic doesn’t stop as she continues to say they were holding hands (while holding Nico’s hand).
Upon asking if Athena is alright, she covers her ears, saying, “I don’t have a chance to win against someone that hot.” Mel consoles her, saying no matter what, her friends are there for her. Girlfriend Manual Chapter 20 ends with the team ready to proceed to Girlfriend Manual Stage 2 – finding out if they’re single!
Girlfriend Manual Chapter 21: Meet Annie
Girlfriend Manual Chapter 21 begins with Toji visiting Levi’s house with a bag of ice cream. Her mother didn’t expect him. With a friendly smile on his face, he says he couldn’t finish the ice-creams on his own. Levi’s mother invites him for dinner. (We will likely get more information about the new girl from the last chapter!) Aunty asks him to guess who is in the house today!? Suddenly, the girl from the previous chapter runs up to Toji, hugging him. It’s Annie, Levi’s sister. (Calm down, Athena!) Girlfriend Manual Chapter 21 ends with Athena and Mel freaking out about what to do next. Nico makes it easier for them by saying, “Go home!”
Girlfriend Manual Chapter 22: Annie And Toji
Girlfriend Manual Chapter 22 begins with Toji asking if it’s been 6 years since he last met Annie. In an adorable manner, she replies, “Eight years and six months, if you’re counting.” She talks about how Toji’s style has improved from geeky t-shirts. Like a classic queer he replies how some age like fine wine, “I am practically vintage now.” Apparently, Toji used to have curls, and now he wears a cool manbun. On the other hand, Levi is quietly eating her food, wondering how Toji and Annie chat just like old times.
Upon asking why Annie visited suddenly, she joyfully replies that she took some time off to spend time with her twin sister. Portraying quintessential sibling behavior, Levi says “Hardly” when her sister asks if she missed her. Dramatically, Annie holds her head, saying, “Here I thought we had that unbreakable twin bond!” Toji chimes in, saying, “More like unbearable.” (We love Toji’s humor!)
What’s Wrong, Levi?
Annie asks if something interesting in her life – hobby, person, or something? She casually says she is just the same old. After a brief banter with Toji regarding the cafe, Annie heads to bed first. (Clearly, she has an old wound inside, something is restricting her from getting excited about a new person!) Girlfriend Manual Chapter 22 ends with Toji giving Annie a ‘REALLY?’ eyes and she apologizes.
Girlfriend Manual webtoon is at a very fascinating stage because both the curiosity and chaos are on the same page. On one hand, Athena is dying to learn more about Levi so she can approach her.
