Surprised at his own vulnerability, Helio is taken aback when Medea doesn’t tease him. Instead, she comforts him, comparing him to the beautiful flowers that have survived the harsh winter. At that moment, he realizes he cannot deny his love for her. Later, He is formally presented with the title of Marquess by the emperor but never gets to have a peaceful day. Assassins are always trying to kill him, and he has to remain vigilant. He also learns that a regional lord is gaining influence, having received a portion of the family’s land from Dolce. The people urge Helio to reclaim it for them. That was when he discovered that the regional lord had contracted syphilis. Helio seizes this opportunity and sends a letter to the lord’s youngest daughter, offering her support to become the new regional Lady in exchange for her loyalty.

He speaks of how people he invited attempted to kill him and that they had poisoned his wine. He also made one of them drink it, and he laughed as if it were a joke to him.
Medea asks for her nanny to fetch the antidotes from the storage room. Helio is taken to her bed to rest, but the nanny expresses her discontent, reminding Medea about the ongoing marriage talks with Eros. Medea brushes off the concern and stays by Helio’s side, taking care of him. Meanwhile, malicious rumors concerning the legendary Marquess Helio Niccolo around the empire. The setting then shifts to an older Helio at another party where most of the women admire his looks. Time flies by, and the time for war begins. Medea confronts Helio asking him to honor those men who died for him.
