Well, protecting a kid from a mafia family is far from easy. And clearly, the job will not be hard enough when you have a handsome hunk as your client. Written by Violet Matter and illustrated by Sh00, The Mafia Nanny is currently the hottest webtoon, with over 90M views and 9.74 rating.

Mafia Nanny Chapter 1: Nanny On A Mission

The Mafia Nanny Chapter 1 introduces the female lead, Davina, who has bright green eyes and flaming red hair and has lots of dreams and hopes for her future. But, she suddenly comes face to face with a tragic incident that changes her entire life. Her parents, who were everything to her, were murdered in arson. Her nanny, Mrs Bremerton, is the headmistress of a private institution, ENA (Elite Nanny Academy), where Davina studied to become an Elite Nanny. We learn that after the murder of her parents, the nanny encouraged her to become a student at ENA and help children like her.

Our male lead, Mr Gabriel Angelini is from an infamous mafia family, the Angelinis. He has silver-grey hair with beautiful blue eyes like a clear sky. He visits ENA to find a suitable nanny for his son, Michele, to protect him from the dangers of his family, although he does not mention this to the headmistress. Our mafia boss has a keen eye, and he selects Davina as he is looking for someone who has never worked before. However, I am kind of curious to know why he chose HER specifically. Though the headmistress is reluctant, she has no choice but to send Davina to the Angelinis. We can see the reason for her reluctance, as it is revealed that the Angelinis may have a hand in Davina’s parents’ murder.

Chapter 2: In The Mafia’s Lair

In Mafia Nanny Chapter 2, Davina is prepared to leave with the Angelinis after briefly introducing herself to Gabriel. Like all enemies-to-lovers tropes, she has reached the conclusion that he is a jerk. Her former nanny/headmistress and her have a sentimental goodbye and she is off to a new adventure. She meets their driver, Adam, and the young heir, Michele, affectionately called Mikey. He is wary of her, and there is tension between the new nanny and the mafia boss. They reach the Angelini Annex in France, and the father and son quarrel about the mafia business.

Later, Gabriel lays some ground rules, and we learn that Mr. Gabriel is actually an Underboss. Things get a little heated when Davina tries to make more plans regarding her job, which he doesn’t appreciate. Just when she decides to obey her boss’s commands and look for Mikey, we see that Mikey is being kidnapped on her first day of work.

Mafia Nanny Chapter 3: Pass Or Fail?

Mafia Nanny Chapter 3 begins with Davina rushing to the car to rescue Mikey. Gabriel warns her lightly, and Adam drives the car with her, trying to find as much information about the kidnap. With the help of her cyber security skills, she reaches the destination and gets ready to rescue him. Like a martial artist, she punches and kicks through to rescue Mikey. The readers witness a small fight sequence showcasing her moves. Following that scene, they enter the car, and Davina comforts Mikey. Suddenly, Adam points a gun at her and instructs her to leave him and take a briefcase full of cash.

Davina learns that the kidnapping was a ploy to test her, and Adam is now taking this opportunity to betray Gabriel. Davina skillfully hacks out of the car with Mikey and reaches the house, where another surprise awaits her. It turns out that everything was a play directed by Gabriel, and everyone but her knew about it. He is pleased and tells her she passed the test, but Davina is furious about the abduction play. The Mafia Nanny Chapter 3 ends with some tension between our mafiosi and nanny, and we learn that Gabriel’s wife was murdered by his own people.

Chapter 4: Daviana’s Ways to Investigate

In Mafia Nanny Chapter 4, we see that Mikey is uncomfortable hearing about his mother’s death. He is quickly sent inside his room. Davina tries to use this opportunity to get close to Mikey, though not before Gabriel tells her to meet him at his studies later. Davina and Mikey start bickering with each other, adding a wholesome moment to the narrative.

In the next scene, we see her inside the study room with Gabriel, who discusses potential dangers. She wants to make sure that he doesn’t know of her identity. She demands complete access to his life in return for protecting his son from dangerous situations. In truth, she wants to investigate more about the Angelinis. By the end of The Mafia Nanny Chapter 4, Gabriel is suspicious but allows her access, though he warns her about the consequences of her failing to protect his son.

Mafia Nanny Chapter 5: More On Angelinis

In Mafia Nanny Chapter 5, we see a distraught Davina trying to calm herself after getting threatened by Gabriel. She understands that he is not a man to be underestimated. She has an insouciant talk with Adam and looks around the huge mansion. Gabriel calls her for dinner, and Davina asks him about Mikey. He shrugs her off, which makes Davina intervene. He does not like that and tells her to stay within her boundaries. Dinner is awkward, and the atmosphere is stressful, for Davina at least. She questions Mikey’s future, and Gabriel is forced to reprimand her, but he also lets her know that not everything is what it seems.

Chapter 6: The Little Mafia

In The Mafia Nanny Chapter 6, we see Mikey acting like a mafia boss. He gets interrupted by Davina, who comes to call him for breakfast. He wants to have breakfast in his room, but Davina playfully teases him, which makes him annoyed. Nevertheless, he has breakfast at the dining hall. She is happy to complete the task and is proud of herself. She meets Signora Conte, the chef lady in Angelini Annex. Gabriel comes into the kitchen asking for coffee, and she notices he is acting nonchalantly about the fiasco. Davina heads to her room and finds her laptop, which she had left in the car after the whole kidnapping test, intact. She searches for the Angelinis and discovers that the current don is Gabriel’s uncle. She researches some more and discovers they’ve made more enemies than friends.

In the next scene, Mikey calls Davina to help him dress. He explains that he needs to go with his dad for business to negotiate with the Croatian syndicate. He wants her help to persuade his dad to let him come, too, but Davina is doubtful. In the next scene, Gabriel comes to say goodbye to his son, and Mikey offers to go with him. But he refuses and tells Davina to take care of Mikey. He is upset that Davina didn’t help him and pushed her out of the room.

Mafia Nanny Chapter 7: To Papa

The Mafia Nanny Chapter 7 begins with a new day, and Davina plans to go to the park with Mikey. She goes to Mikey’s room to ask about the same, and though initially he is reluctant, he accepts her plan to go out if he takes her to his designated place. He acts all cutesy with her, and it’s peaceful momentarily because while getting an ice cream, he suddenly runs off, leaving Davina behind.

In the next scene, Gabriel gets a call from his uncle, who wants to know about the upcoming negotiation. With the uncle, we see a lady doctor covered in blood approaching him, saying the job is done. This scene escalates the readers’ curiosity about what happened and what will happen afterward. In the next scene, we see Mikey running away and getting on a bus to meet his father. Davina tries to find him, turning her elite nanny mode on.

Chapter 8: A Chaotic Hide N Seek

In The Mafia Nanny Chapter 8, we see that Davina has caught Mikey red-handed. We get a flashback of how she quickly deduces where Mikey will be and starts a chaotic yet adventurous journey. She catches Mikey, and he is frustrated that his nanny managed to catch him so quickly. He tells her that his father is in danger, all the bodyguards are just for a show, and only family can be trusted. Davina assures him she is not like the others and will do anything to keep him safe. They reach home, and Mikey is grounded and is forced to be with Davina.

At night, Mikey places a condition and tells her that she should tell his father that he must tuck him to bed when he gets back. Davina agrees to his condition and makes a promise to him. While waiting for Gabriel, sitting outside Mikey’s room, she is exhausted from the day’s events, and sleep befalls her. The Mafia Nanny Chapter 8 ends with Gabriel standing, looking tired and bloody, as if he has come from a fight.

Chapter 9: One Step Closer

In The Mafia Nanny Chapter 9, Gabriel goes inside Mikey’s room to check on him after seeing Davina on the floor sleeping. Mikey notices him half asleep and tells him about the events. They both have an event planned, and Gabriel leaves the room and stares at Davina, who is on the floor, still sleeping. He is a little wary of her but acknowledges that she can keep his son safe. He wakes her up and makes her go to the room. As he helps her to reach her bed, she notices he smells like blood.

The next morning, Davina tries to understand Mikey, Gabriel, and Angelinis’ circumstances. She is cautious and wants full access to his security systems at all costs. She is fully prepared to take him down on this, but unexpectedly, her situation is not favored. We see Mikey in a floaty heading to the poolside, and the viewers get a splendid view.

Mafia Nanny Chapter 10: The Pool Day

In Mafia Nanny Chapter 10, after Gabriel announces it’s pool day, Davina is perplexed about facing a mafia family that is so carefree. Gabriel has his reasons but does not disclose it to anyone else. It is revealed to readers that the pool day was the special event the father and son planned. She asked him about access to his security systems so she could analyze and find out any weaknesses. In response, he shrugs her concerns and reminds her it’s pool day and wants her to enjoy the day with everyone. Adam comes inside and asks her to stay, but she is reluctant. Her efforts to not stay end up in vain, and she is forced to accompany both father and son.

She is forced to play with Mikey, and we see a moment when Gabriel is intrigued by her. Mikey and Davina have fun in the pool, playing games and bickering with each other. All fun moments cease when Adam barges into the pool with a troubled expression, asking for Gabriel. Mikey is disappointed but asks his father to leave. Davina, along with us readers, is suspicious of the news and wants to know what is happening.

Personal Reflection 

Although it is very wattpad-coded, so far, I like all the characters because every character has their own identities and spaces in this romance webtoon. My favorite is the Mafia Daddy, though! Little Mikey is still a child but has to bear the burden of being in the mafia family. Gabriel and Davina are like fire and water, and they both complement each other well, and the chemistry is appealing. The Mafia Nanny webtoon seems like a slow burn, and I’m excited for the upcoming episodes. Stay tuned for more updates!
