Refund High School remarkably drafts the not-so-new “Afterlife” plot. The plot and the characters sit perfectly with the storyline. In the last chapter, we saw how the characters have finally started their reincarnation tests, the first test being- a group test where they have to cross the Styx River but with a twist of their memories. Let’s see what happens next in the Refund High School Chapter 123 through 130!

The Final Steps Towards Reincarnation

Refund High School Chapter 123: Aru to the Rescue

At the beginning of Refund High School Chapter 124, Mook starts his task. In the task, a memory of his childhood and his close ones grieving about his death appears in front of him, making him lose control. However, Aru reminds him that those are just his memories. This makes him attentive again, resulting in him swiftly crossing the bridge and completing his task.

After Mook, it is Mari’s time to cross the bridge. As she steps up on the bridge and walks a few distances, she looks back at the memories of her parents fighting in her childhood. As she moves forward, an unseen force snatches her cape away. In the process of saving it, she falls into the river.

Seeing all of this Aru decides to help Mari by herself and jumps into the river. Suddenly, the thought of infernal spirits hits her and the ethics teacher announces that if they stop breathing, the spirits won’t take their memories away. So, she asks Mari to stop breathing, and suddenly, the weight of both of their souls has lightened. They finally escape the river, and the notification ‘The river Styx group test successfully finished!’ pop-up ending Refund High School Chapter 123.

Refund High School Chapter 124: What the Future Looks Like?

As everyone has passed the group test they all are celebrating in Refund High School Chapter 124. And, Mari finally realizes how Aru saved her despite the moments that happened in their past life. An ampule bottle now holds a liquid that indicates the students’ effort level over the past three years, and the next test is ready. Mari has the lowest whereas Mook has the highest level of the liquid.

The students are asked to step up against their Karma Mirrors in the next test. When the alarm starts, they walk inside the mirrors and are surprised to find their future selves. Aru is all dressed up and has a caring, tall boyfriend. Sua is a popular painter selling her art pieces for billions (and it’s the same guy she sees every time she is around water!) Gunn is a popular celebrity figure who is being interviewed about an accident he faced but got saved due to his longboarding skills. Sehui and Mari are onstage (just where they belong) and this time they are actually friends. Refund High School Chapter 124 ends with Aru not being able to see her future boyfriend’s face.

Refund High School Chapter 125: Their Future

Refund High School Chapter 125 starts with Aru’s moment with her future boyfriend, where she is still worrying about not seeing his face which also results in her finishing up the ampule bottle. In the next moment, she feels a pain in her back, which reminds her of her mom, and as she runs back home, her mom doesn’t recognize her and says she doesn’t have a daughter.

Later, the scene changes to three different situations. The first one is Sehui reading up her fan letters where she finds her pictures and a triggering note. Sua’s life is perplexing as well; when an interviewer asks if she can paint a real-life person, she realizes that the person, she painted is the one from her past life. Mari witnesses her childhood in a glance when she sees a fight between two young adults who are fighting for the money that she earned, and realizes that they might be her mom and dad. The liquid bottle finally gets emptied and stimulation stops.

Mook, still hidden behind the mirror, sees the disappointed look on everyone’s faces and, after some time, he emerges with a sad expression. The homeroom teacher announces that the students will participate in a tournament against each other for the next level.

Chapter 126: Selfish Or Sacrificial 

Refund High School Chapter 126 starts with the third round which is a survival challenge where the students have to fight against each other and take the ampule from the opponent which will give them an additional point but they can only do it once, and if they don’t get the additional point, they will not have the life they wanted.

The challenge has started and the first encounter we have is between Gunn and Sua where we see a dramatic scene that ends with Gunn getting Sua’s ampule. The next round is between Aru and Mook, surprisingly not surprising, where we see few emotions flowing but at the end, Mook finally turns into the sea serpent and takes away Aru’s red string and the encounter ends with Aru’s dialogue, “My weakness was you!”

The third encounter we have is between the long-lost friends Mari and Sehui, which starts with Sehui regretting it, but then Mari decides to become the bigger person by sacrificing it all and giving her the red thread and saying, “In the next life don’t meet someone like me and make your debut!” Refund High School Chapter 126 ends on this emotional note.

Refund High School Chapter 127: Yemma’s Surprise

At the beginning of Chapter 127, the students are guided to Queen Yemma’s office for an interview after completing the reincarnation test. The first student is Aru. Surprisingly, Aru now answers questions about why she gave up easily and what she wants to be reincarnated as. She states that she just wants to be the normal and happy kid she once was. The interview ends with a little banter and a few questions here and there.  Now we have the results. The first one on the list is Mook, of course, whereas Mari and Aru find their name at the bottom of the list.

After this, Queen Yemma announces the results, but there is a surprise: bonus points! She goes on to announce the names of the students who got bonus points:

• Sua, for having the courage to forget her past trauma.
• Mari has the courage to sacrifice for her friends.
• Stretch Naam, to be kind enough and inform the teacher about her friend, Sua, despite being in the reincarnation challenge last but not least.
• Aru, got a whole of 10 bonus points, because of her sweet and down-to-earth interview which impressed Queen Yemma.

So, this year, all the students have passed the reincarnation test and everyone is on the Cloud 9! Aru and Mook are upset with the reincarnation announcement, ending the chapter with somber faces.

Chapter 128: Aru And Mook

In Refund High School Chapter 128, everyone is guided to the hall to have the traces of the evil spirit washed away. They are discussing the test, where Stretch describes how she crossed the Styx River. It was nothing but a cakewalk for her, as she is so tall and the water splashes felt like tickles. In the next scene, Gunn apologizes to Sua and Sehui and thanks Mari for her sacrifice.

The rain has finally started and Aru has only one thought going on in her head – Where is Mook? Later, Sua explains how he did it to reincarnate together with her. The student who tops the list is a surprise and a source of joy for Aru, as can choose between Nirvana and Reincarnation. She runs to find Mook to share the news.

Amidst all this, Sua confesses that she is no longer afraid of water. It’s raining, and instead of fear, she feels only happiness. Refund High School Chapter 128 ends with Aru finding Mook in the forest outside school.

Personal Reflection

Refund High School is coming to an end and we can feel it. We have witnessed it all, from day one of school to graduation day and everything has changed! We appreciated the well-drafted third round of the reincarnation test. It featured Mari and Sua’s friend group engaging in conflict and Mari’s self-sacrificing nature.
