Words such as “Bamboo Copter,” “Anywhere Door,” “Big Light and Small Light,” and “Timekerchief” really tickle the nostalgia. It takes us back to a time when we used to finish our homework as early as possible to watch Doraemon with our friends, siblings, parents, or grandparents. As grownups, with life throwing us curveballs every day, we always say, “Oh, I so wish that I had that one gadget! It would make my life and the world so much better!” Most of the episodes have light-hearted humor that concludes in a comic way. However, there are some episodes and movies that are tear-jerkers. One such episode is the one in which Doraemon died. In this read, we shall take a look at the episode that shows the Doraemon ending.
Doraemon Ending: What Actually Happened?
Doraemon Ending: Nobita Rushes Into His Room Yet Again

The Doraemon ending episode opens up with Nobita frantically rushing into his room, looking for his best friend, Doraemon. While reading a book, Nobita begs his best friend to give him a gadget that he once used to teach Gian and Suneo a lesson. Noticing Doraemon not reacting to his words at all, he gets mad at Doraemon for not paying attention to him. Just as he shrugs off Doraemon, the book that he is holding falls on the floor, as does his best friend. Nobita realizes that something is awry.
What Happened to Doraemon?

Unable to figure out what happened with Doraemon, Nobita uses Time Television to contact Dorami, Doraemon’s sister. Dorami infers that Doraemon is out of battery. Upon hearing this, Nobita exudes an air of relaxation as he knows that changing the battery is no big deal. Dorami will be able to bring Doraemon back to life in a jiffy. But Dorami informs Nobita that changing her brother’s battery is not a simple job. Further, all cat-type robots have their batteries in their ears. Since Doraemon no longer has ears, changing his battery will have a consequence. To diverge from the story at hand, if you’re wondering how Doraemon lost his ears, we recommend you watch the short film 2112: The Birth of Doraemon.
Now, back to the story. Dorami continues that since Doraemon is an old and delicate robot with no ears, replacing his battery will result in him losing his memory. This shocks Nobita, and he looks for workarounds such as Time Travelling with Doraemon to a Future Factory, gluing Doraemon’s ears with a gadget, and even calling his best friend’s creator. None of these ideas work since firstly time traveling is prohibited at the moment. Secondly, Doraemon’s pocket is non-functional. And finally, the whereabouts of Doraemon’s creator are classified. Now Dorami has left Nobita with two options at hand: either let Time Patrol or Dorami replace Doraemon’s battery and erase his memory, or wait for some new technology that will be able to replace Doraemon’s battery without erasing his memory. Which one do you think Nobita chose?
Doraemon Ending: Nobita’s Life Changes

Now Nobita is left heartbroken. He sits in front of Doraemon, reminiscing all the memories that both of them shared. He remembers the first time they met, the times they used to quarrel but still had each other’s back, and a lot more before finally breaking down and crying for his loss. But as the great Greek philosopher Aristotle said “Everything happens for a reason,” this event completely changed Nobita as a person. Fast forward to Nobita’s high school years, we find him topping his exams, obtaining scores higher than even Dekisugi. As a character, he has become a lot calmer, composed, and knowledgeable, having a lack of interest in activities pertaining to entertainment. We find him ignoring Shizuka, who pities him for always pushing himself too hard.
We are again taken to a future time when Nobita or should I say Professor Nobi, who is currently married to Shizuka, is the leading authority in robotics. His childhood friends, namely Gian, Suneo, and Dekisugi, are watching him on TV. Dekisugi, who is now the President, brings up the Doraemon in the conversation. Bringing up the topic infuriates Gian and Suneo since they are under the impression that Doraemon, after all, that they’ve been through, went back into the future without a word. Dekisugi reconciles the sudden outrage by bringing up the topic of the Time Paradox.
The Time Paradox

A Time Paradox is nothing but traveling back in time and creating a contradiction to an already occurred event to obtain a different outcome in the future. Since the current state of civilization is messed up beyond repair, amending certain events of the past would help shape the state of the current world. What’s more, tonight, a great engineer will complete a task that will change history forever. Everyone in the room is left dumbstruck. Can you guess which engineer Dekisugi is talking about?
Next, we find Nobita calling Shizuka into his lab. This is unusual behavior since he never invites her into his lab as it’s too dangerous. But today’s an exception as Nobita uncovers him in a testing chamber. Nobita turns on the switch to initiate his experiment to bring Doraemon back to life. As they eagerly wait for the experiment to end, he slowly wakes up. But wait. He looks different now. He appears yellow and has his ears back. In a dazed and drowsy state, Doraemon asks Nobita if he has completed his homework. Nobita runs towards him and hugs his friend for the first time in 36 years.
Doraemon Ending Explained
While the Doraemon last episode ended on an emotional note, fans are confused regarding Doraemon’s altered looks. So here I’ll try my best to address the confusion. Initially was a yellow robot cat having ears. When the robot mouse munched off his ears, he turned blue out of shock (yes, it does sound weird). Nobita uses the Time Paradox concept to bring old Doraemon into his reality and incorporates the last recorded memory of Doraemon before he blacked out. The episode brings tears of joy to the readers, watching Nobita finally reunite with his best friend after ages. Also, Nobita finally turned into the person he envisioned while fulfilling his dream of marrying Shizuka.
So there you have it! This is the story of the episode in which Doraemon died, an episode in which everything ended on a positive note. The robot was brought back to life-check, Nobita turned into the best scientist of Japan-check, Dekisugi became the president, Nobita married Shizuka-check, and the civilization headed in a positive direction.
