What is love without battle? Be it internal conflict or external pressure, to love is to be courageous, and Love Bites is cementing the fact with the tragic but adorable love story of Kieran and Mason. Love Bites Chapter 40: Hush Hush
Love Bites Chapter 40 begins with Mason confessing, “Kieran, I’m in love with you.” The silence from him makes him very awkward, and he urges Kieran to say something. The vampire replies with a deep kiss, thinking, I can’t say what he wants me to say. I can’t say yet if what I feel for Mason Kane is love, but…I do trust him. Like he trusted me. Maybe I can’t tell him I love him, but…I can show him that I trust him. Kieran decided to take a step forward and ask if Mason wants to, you know what he means! “You didn’t lure me out here to confess and seduce me?” With red cheeks, the wolf replies, “I don’t want you to do anything you don’t wanna do…” Before he could complete the sentence, Kieran says he wanted to.
In the middle of the forest, the two innocent souls want to express their love and longing. Kieran hesitates, saying he has never done it before. Mason lovingly says, “Neither have I, but I wouldn’t want my first time to be with anyone else.”
What Was It?
After the passionate moment fades, Mason asks the difficult question, “It was fun, but was it just fun for you?” Kieran tries to evade the question but expresses his concern. “I care about you a lot, but we’re moving so fast, and there’s the mates thing, and the vampires and werewolves thing, and the Cella thing…I just know it feels right when I am with you.” Mason soothes him by hugging him from the back and says he will wait if he needs time or feels like slowing down. Kieran thanks him and hugs him back. Kieran’s night ends with a forehead kiss from the werewolf. Love Bites Chapter 40 ends with a beautiful sunrise, and Kieran stil entangled with Mason – he only hopes they could stay like this forever. We hope so too.
Love Bites Chapter 41: We Must Tell
Love Bites Chapter 41 begins with Cella asking Kieran where he disappeared last night. Though her vampire friend tried to lie his way out, saying he went back to the tent, she immediately called him out, saying she didn’t find him there. Or Mason! Finding no other way out, he cooked up another lie. “We went to the woods…to talk…just werewolf and vampire things.” Well, the things! As Cella expressed concern, Kieran says, We are cool now.
Back at school, during the play, Kieran thinks, no one considers Mason to be my friend, but then what are they thinking in their mind? “I wonder if they see past our rivalry.”Â
Alexa Play Jealousy
Kieran is comfortable not confessing his feelings, but he isn’t too great at hiding his emotions, especially his jealousy. Seeing girls always trying to do something for him just to get his attention boils his blood. (His blood? Moving on…) In one such moment, with an almost furious face, Kieran thinks, “I have no claim to him. So then why do I want everyone to know he’s mine?” And bam, Kieran kisses Mason. He asks the werewolf how long they are going to keep this romance a secret. Seeing his upset face, Mason reassures him; he doesn’t want them to be a secret, but the pact is there. Moreover, Cedric’s reaction can be lethal.
Kieran confidently and lovingly expresses that he isn’t scared of Cedric, and he is willing to take that risk. His confidence and affection motivate Kieran enough to think that he might be able to make his brother understand. Mason shows patience and asks him to take the time he needs. Love Bites Chapter 41 ends with Kieran deciding to confess to his best friend, Cella.
