Addicted to You Webtoon Chapter 1: A Divide Too Wide to Cross
Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 1 begins as Se-a slumps in her chair while her high school professor explains the history of Zeros- individuals born without superpowers- and their superiors, the supernatural Vectors. In Se-a’s world, those without abilities were taught to respect Vectors with everything they had. Vectors were believed to be gifts from God and were placed on a societal pedestal.
But Se-a could see through all the injustice. Although appearing to slack off in class, she was paying keen attention. When her teacher asks her to continue his explanation as a test, she confidently stands up. The poor man had unknowingly turned on a tap with no way to stop the overflow.
Se-a talks about the different types of Vectors- classified by the number of powers they possess- and doesn’t stop lecturing. From Naturals, to Generals, to Flats, to Maxes, and finally to Univals, the number of abilities increased. Univals were the most powerful of them all; they were extremely rare, with only six living in the entire country.
Groaning, Se-a’s teacher puts a stop to her speech. But she has more to say. “Vectors and Zeros may attend the same schools, but they’re not treated equally,” she says, voicing the cruel negligence towards the average person. Later in life, Zeros were reduced to common workers anyway. What was the point of even teaching them? Speaking out against the harsh apartheid in society earns Se-a…. detention!
The Dangers of a Spark
After the prison hours, Se-a slips out of detention to meet Dohyeon. Suddenly, a girl runs up to her, informing her of the fight that’d just happened. Dohyeon had rejected the Princess of the Vectors, and in response, the Chairman’s grandson, a vector, had attacked him. Se-a runs in a mad dash to see him. She finds him sitting with a bandaged arm. She hurriedly takes his arm to assess the injuries, while he plays it off.
When the topic of the woman he rejected comes up, Dohyeon takes her in his arms. “Why would I accept that girl’s confession when I like you?” he says, kissing her. He asks her about detention, offering his compassion. Se-a lets herself be embraced by his empathetic words. Is this how it feels to be truly on the same wavelength as someone?
Later, Se-a finds her building ablaze. With the roaring fire that rages within her apartment, she loses her family and the one person who truly understood her. Dohyeon was gone. In that moment, she’d remembered the promise he’d given her. A shiny ring, too big for her. He’d vowed to marry her when it fit her finger. Addicted to You Webtoon Chapter 2: Dreams Do Come True
Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 2 begins a few years into the future. Se-a awakens after another miserable night of being plagued by her recurring nightmares. It was always a replay of the fire that woke her up in a cold sweat.
Taking the bus to work, Se-a generates much rumour amongst the Vectors inside. Another Zero using the public services? What was happening to this world? Lately, an epidemic of arrests was sweeping its way through the Vectors in the country. Discrimination against Zeros had become so frequent that jails were teeming with convicts. Yet, Zeros were blamed for everything anyway. On the news, two adults discuss the grim future. Out of all the Univals, only one was young. The others were aged and unpredictable. Everyone’s phone suddenly buzzes with a message. Due to a murder, all Stealth and Cutting abilities would be restricted. One of the men in the bus, frustratedly, groans as his wristband locks itself, restraining his powers.
An Appointment with the Past
At the cafe she worked at, Se-a patiently deals with a rude Vector. When he notices that she has no bracelet on her wrist- a sign of supernatural abilities- he begins to assert his God-given dominance over her. Suddenly, a well-dressed man in a suit appears behind him. Flexing his expensive metal watch, he threatens the man to leave.
The obviously powerful man’s watch symbolising the possession of three powers, the customer makes the rational choice and skeddaddles.
The man turns to Se-a and slides his card across the counter to pay. With the plastic rectangle, he pushes a small folded note towards her. ‘Does he have a new mission for me?’ Se-a wonders, while plastering a friendly smile on her face. 10 pm at a pub tomorrow. Grab the good and move out. Wait for orders, reads the note.
That night, Se-a walks back home. Seeing her apartment blacked out, her senses immediately became alert. A wave of anxiety hits her. Combined with the nightmare she’d had about her past, she suddenly takes a spontaneous trip down memory lane.
After the fire, it’d become apparent that the Chairman’s grandson had been the one to start it. Enraged, Se-a had tried to attack him, make him pay for what he’d done. But justice was never served. She was all alone in the world. Suddenly, she notices a shadowed man standing outside the building steps. She brushes past the man when he abruptly calls out her name. “Do you still have that ring?’ he asks, removing his cap and revealing his face. Dohyeon?! He envelopes Se-a in a crushing hug, concluding the Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 2.
Addicted to You Webtoon Chapter 3: Long Time No See
Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 3 begins as Se-a invites Dohyeon into her embarrassingly messy apartment. Like he always did, Dohyeon comments on her clothes. She still wore skirts, huh? Walking through the place, he keenly picks up on the exclusivity of her items. There was only one coffee mug, only one toothbrush, and only make-up items on the dresser. “No other guys come here?” he asks abruptly.
What?! Where was this suddenly coming from?
Se-a tries to collect herself; she needs to be grateful. Dohyeon was here. After all these years, she was finally with him. Dohyeon kisses Se-a, and for a moment, she basks in the feeling of finally having a friend again. But a second later, she pushes him away. She needed some time to process everything that’d happened (AKA, the fact that he’d come back from the dead to meet her).
Motives Hazy as Smoke
During the fire, Se-a had run back into the apartment. She had to find Dohyeon; she had to save her family. That day, when she was identified as the sole survivor, she’d lost a part of herself. And now… fate was here, dropping that missing piece of her soul right at her feet again.
Se-a tells Dohyeon that she is happy he is well. However, he becomes angry. He’d been away for so long… and she thought he was well? Se-a grabs his scarred arm and tries to break up the fight. But Dohyeon becomes closed off. When he mentions how he knew that she was alive all these years, Se-a becomes enraged. He knew she was alive! He knew how she was doing! And when she had no idea about him, he hadn’t even called once!?
Dohyeon embraces Se-a, promising her that he is here now. In his arms, she hopes that he could be the steady warmth she needed in these dark times. They could be each other’s rocks- reliable and unmoving.
Meanwhile, two men discuss the man who’d recently escaped from them. Dohyeon. One man, the Secretary, resolves to find him straightaway. But the second one, with the features of a fox, smiles slyly. He explains that Dohyeon clearly needed something, and if they gave him some time, he’d involuntarily come crawling back to them, concluding Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 3.
Addicted to You Webtoon Chapter 4: Secret, Lies, and Wedding Vows
Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 4 begins as Se-a wakes up next to Dohyeon with a heavy head. She kisses the frustratingly childish man- he obstinately wanted her to want to touch him- good morning. He asks to see the ring he’d given her in high school and slips it onto her finger. Consequently, they resolved to get married when the time was right. “You are the only one I can call family now,” Dohyeon says, kissing her again.
Later, they go retail shopping for clothes. In the store, Dohyeon keeps a close eye out for any men sent by ‘that man’. Meanwhile, Se-a tries hard to accept their new relationship and love with ease, but she can’t look past the insurmountable distance between them. Dohyeon wouldn’t open up, and she didn’t know whether to wait or ask.
That night, Se-a leaves late. She had a 10 pm meeting. After lying to Dohyeon about meeting a friend, she dashes out the door. Watching her leave suspiciously, Dohyeon finds himself alone in the apartment. His eyes glow red, and he scans the room. He uncovers multiple high-end guns hidden around the furniture- what was Se-a up to? Meanwhile, Se-a cocks a long rifle. Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 4 concludes as, through an earpiece, she explains that she was in a hurry; her boyfriend was waiting for her.
Addicted to You Webtoon Chapter 5: Shots Fired, Bullets Lodged
Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 5 begins as a blonde-haired guy on the other line replies to Se-a’s comment about her boyfriend. He had no idea that she was dating, let alone engaged. He’d always known Se-a as the woman who ‘looked at men like furniture’.
Suddenly, the target arrives. The man, Changho Seo, had filed for government protection. He had ties with the criminal network- specifically drug dealers- and was accompanied by several guards. Se-a’s team, the Cassis, or a group of vigilantes, informs her that one of them has the ability to fire. The knowledge makes Se-a queasy. She hated fire. She aims at the window and steadies her hand. She’d need to fire before the curtains were drawn. But when they don’t close the shades, Se-a begins to panic. Was it a trap? Bang! She shoots; the bullet finds its mark. But it still misses. It turns out, their target had a secret ability. Cloning.
The man had already seen her, so she couldn’t hide. Se-a decides to swing over and kill him herself. Meanwhile, the blonde-haired boy loses his calm. What on earth was she doing?! She was going to die! Then Se-a goes radio silent, freaking him out even more.
One Answer, Fifty New Questions
Se-a breaks through the window, landing in front of the Vector. Looking more and more hideous as he examines her, the man laughs. A Zero? What was she going to do? But Se-a wasn’t as helpless as he thought. Before he can clone himself again, she grabs him and shoots.
The eerie silence of the night suddenly shatters as police sirens sound and news vans veer into view. Se-a tries to escape, but runs into a fire Vector instead. The man ignites a purple flame- a high-level flame- and moves towards her. Se-a closes her eyes and remembers Dohyeon. I’ll return to him, she thinks. Suddenly, the Vector burns apart in front of her eyes. Obliterated in a single fume of white flame- the most powerful kind- he fades away to reveal the attacker. Dohyeon?
While he checks Se-a for wounds, she blurts out an important question. Was he a Lixie (the rare few who acquired powers over time)? Dohyeon answers in the affirmative. He was a Lixie. That’s why he’d been away for so many years. He’d been locked up by the government, researched, tortured, and was dying to see her again. Se-a tries to grasp the concept. Had someone reported him? Addicted to You webtoon Chapter 5 concludes as Dohyeon presses his forehead against hers and says, “You reported me as a Lixie, remember?”
