Unnie I Like You Chapter 1 starts with Chanmi waking up from a vivid dream that shows her people, mainly her lover, Hanbyeol, dead. A brief moment of tears and unspoken emotions swell as Chanmi tries to wake her beloved, but she stays lifeless in her arms. The chapter continues with Chanmi waking up to a new day, a new story. She is greeted by her butler, whom she prefers to call ‘Ahjussi’, who reminds her of the important interview for a master’s in business administration, and that Chanmi will have to graduate in a year and return to help her father run his company.
Chanmi continues to scroll through her phone and comes across a poster which reminds me of her lover… the one that haunts her dreams from the past. A deep thought slides through her mind before she decides to go to the Annual ARTS Exhibition. The butler tries to convince her to withdraw her application instead of returning to Korea. Chanmi is shown to be pacing down the hallway of the university, and her eyes land on the lady standing near the masterpiece. Chanmi proceeds to go to the lady, a sense of familiarity filling the air around her. The lady mistakes Chanmi for a buyer interested in her masterpiece. “Unnie…”, that’s what Chanmi called her. She wants to know about the cool lady she just addressed as ‘Unnie’. She gets on her tiptoes, her hands brushing over Chanmi’s chest as she whispers in her ears, “It is impolite to flirt with their teacher in the workplace. Continuing from Unnie I Like You Chapter 1, it is clear that Hanbyeol is unaware of their past connection. Chanmi’s internal conflict intensifies as she tries to remember her past and deal with the present encounter simultaneously. To clear her mind, she goes out for a walk. While strolling, she finds Hanbyeol drinking. A definite flutter of her heart and the growing feelings pushed her to walk to Hanbyeol. Hanbyeol invites Chanmi for a drink, which Chanmi refuses later. Drunk Hanbyeol opens up and vents out about how terrible her day was. She wished to go to the concert stage, but is now stuck with university work. Another flashback of subtle intimacy that urges Chanmi to want Hanbyeol to step up and go for it.
“If only it were that easy..” Hanbyeol sighs. After a while of venting out, Hanbyeol wishes to go home, but her drunken state wouldn’t let her. Unnie I Like You Chapter 3: A Warm Breakfast
Unnie I Like You Chapter 3 starts with Hanbyeol waking up and finding Chanmi in her formal attire, making breakfast. A heat rushes through her body as she finds this act intimate and heart-touching. “Do you have any flaws?” asks Hanbyeol as her eyes shine. This dreamy woman, Chanmi, was about to sweep the world off her feet. In the meantime, Hanbyeol goes to freshen up, and drowns in embarrassment for drinking in front of other people.
