Singles’ Royale Chapter 23: What Big Teeth You Have, Jurim!
Singles’ Royale Chapter 23 begins as Jurim and Dowon make eye contact in the midst of a crowded banquet. Dowon’s promise to never disclose Jurim’s embarrassing secret- how she’d been catfished by an Asian teenager- echoes in her head. He wouldn’t go back on his words, right? A sweet smile plastered to her face, Jurim breathes a sigh of relief when Dowon turns away and dismisses the identity of his girlfriend as his ‘little secret’.
Outside the hall, Jurim fumes in anger. Dowon’s actions were unacceptable- what was he doing? Was he about to humiliate her?! Jurim gets caught up in imagining the downfall of her hard-won reputation. Stomping around in a huff, she furiously grumbles about the irritating man under her breath. So, the irritating man chooses that exact moment to run into her. “You were huffing and puffing about me, weren’t you?” he asks with a smirk. But his playful statement doesn’t improve the big, bad wolf’s mood at all.
When Jurim continues to boil over with anger, Dowon holds out his pinky to make the promise official. Still annoyed, she reluctantly extends her little finger. For the brief moment that they remain with their pinky fingers interlocked, a deep blush appears on Jurim’s face.
Dowon calls Jurim’s reactions ‘pretty entertaining,’ saying, “They make me want to keep teasing you. Especially that expression… I must draw you.” Whipping out a notebook and pencil, he draws a cartoonish sketch of Jurim, with a comically angry face, within minutes. Dowon hands the paper to her, and Jurim, a faint rosy color tinting her cheeks, takes it with confusion.

Meanwhile, one of the attendees of the banquet, a stout bald man with a single hair stemming from his head like a lone tree on the prairie, informs Dowon’s mother of his mysterious lover. On the other side of the line, a woman dressed in bright red swirls the wine in her glass, carefully considering the information. She says suspiciously, “He wouldn’t be seeing her again, would he?”
A moment later, Dowon receives a phone call from his livid mother. She badgers him for details on his new girlfriend: When did this happen? Was it her again? If it wasn’t her, then who was it? She threatens to fly back to the country if he doesn’t video call her to introduce his new girlfriend. Singles’ Royale Chapter 23 concludes as Jurim anxiously perches on a seat beside Dowon, nervously glancing at the well-dressed woman in sunglasses and a fur coat in front of her.

What Happened So Far?
Previously in Singles’ Royale, Daeseong begins to realize his feelings for Chayeul, his best friend. He’d introduced her to Sanggyu, her boyfriend, but something felt off. Why couldn’t he stop thinking about her? After breaking up a school fight between two boys, he gains a new perspective on the matter, and he decides to finally go for it and talk to Chayeul.
Meanwhile, Chayeul struggles with her feelings- she liked Sanggyu… but there was no spark. Even after Sanggyu confesses his love for her, Chayeul doesn’t feel even the barest amount of passion- forget the whirlwind of emotions and attraction that come with dating.
