Selfish Romance is truly playing with our hearts at this point. We finally saw a ray of hope for Hyeondo and Yumin’s potential relationship after she kissed him. However, in the previous chapter, Iseon finally clarified himself; he never felt romantically attracted to anyone, including Yumin. It’s something he has struggled with from a very young age. He puts Yumin in a tough spot. “Just because I don’t feel attracted to you doesn’t mean I don’t care. When I’m with you, I feel emotionally stable and attached. I want you to be happy, and I want to be with you. So what else could this be other than love?” Let’s see where Iseon’s clarification and Hyeondo’s patience lead to in Selfish Romance Chapter 50-51.
Selfish Romance Chapter 50: Meeting Goes Wrong

Selfish Romance Chapter 50 begins with Iseon driving back home, while Yumin’s phone is in his car. On the other hand, she is exhausted after expressing her long-kept feelings to his ex. She is wondering about things Iseon said, why everything is so complicated, and how she wants love to feel simple.
The next morning, Jeong meets Hyeondo while going on a business trip. Hyeondo went for a long run and looks visibly exhausted AND upset? (Well, Yumin didn’t text last night, so his worry makes sense!) Back in the office, Yumin asks Iseon if she left her phone in his car. She informs Hyeondo about the phone incident, and he requests that they meet for lunch. (Mr Chef will bring lunch, of course!) After blushing for a few good seconds, she says he’s been busy because of the TV show, so they shall meet after his work. This conversation puts Hyeondo’s anxiety at ease because he wondered if, just like his past partner, Yumin, was ignoring him on purpose.
Sojeong’s Mother

Sojeong receives a call from an unknown number, turns out it’s her mother. She immediately asks, “Why are you calling? You need money?” Her mother takes offense and asks if she is suggesting she is a money grabber. “You two are the same. You think you’re better than me because you gave me some money.” Shocked, Sojeong wondered who else she was referring to. Upon asking if she took money from Hyeondo, she immediately hangs up, saying they will chat later.
In the next scene, Iseon calls Yumin to inform her, his friend saw the phone in his car and left it back in his home. However, because he was in a rush to go to the office, he didn’t see it. He said she can take it from his home; the passcode is the same. Hesitant, Yumin said it would feel weird to go to his place alone now that they are not dating. She decides to drop by his place after his work. Hyeondo gets off work at 10, so she can get her phone before that.
As planned, Yumin took her phone from Iseon’s place, and he decided to walk her to the main road. Lo and behold, the elevator door opens to none other than Hyeondo, ending Selfish Romance Chapter 50 on this awkward note.

Selfish Romance Chapter 51: Sojeong’s Plea

Chapter 51 begins as Sojeong, disguised in a mask and wig, arrives at Hyeondo’s restaurant after hours. Taegeun approaches her, and Sojeong takes off her mask, becoming instantly recognizable. When she mentions that she wanted to talk to the owner, Taegeun begins thinking that the actress must’ve fallen for Hyeondo the last time she’d dined at the restaurant. He begins gleefully thinking that Hyeondo would be in his first relationship when Sojeong gut-punches him with the fact that she used to date him. Bowing slightly, she earnestly asks him to help her.
Meanwhile, at Hyeondo’s place, Hyeondo receives a text from Taegeun, apologizing for something vague, and wonders if he’d broken another plate at the restaurant. Suddenly, his doorbell rings, and Hyeondo eagerly opens it. It must be Yumin!
Instead, a disguised Sojeong brushes past his shoulder and into the living room. “Did you ever give my mom money?” she asks impatiently. Hyeondo explains that he’d only done ‘a few times’ before Sojeong had moved into the apartment. In passionate fury, Sojeong yells at him for being a ‘pushover’ and donating to her and her mother. Hyeondo calmly explains that, in his devotion for her, he’d given her mother money so she wouldn’t pester Sojeong (don’t worry, he clarifies that it meant nothing now). “It’s not over! Not for me!” she sobs, emotionally.
Once Sojeong had risen to fame, her mother frequently began asking for compensation- after all, she’d “birthed her beautifully”- and despite knowing her manipulative mother, Hyeondo still loved Sojeong without prejudice. Why had he stopped now? Was she worse than her mother? She promises to be better for Hyeondo if he takes her back, but he simply asks her to leave.
The Main Characters in the Elevator

Hyeondo and Sojeong walk into the elevator. When the doors slide open on one of the floors, they meet Yumin and Iseon standing outside. Without acknowledging each other, Hyeondo quietly shifts to make space, and Yumin steps into a tense environment.
In the horrifyingly loud silence, Yumin hears a sniff behind Hyeondo and turns around- and recognizes Sojeong by her unique eyes and phone case immediately. Wait a second. What could the actress possibly be doing here?
When the elevator opens, Yumin wordlessly walks out with Iseon. She begins to think to herself that it felt wrong to leave without talking to Hyeondo, when suddenly, he catches her hand. He tells Sojeong to get home by herself, and pulls Yumin into the elevator. Iseon barely registers what had just happened before the doors close with Yumin and Hyeondo inside, concluding Selfish Romance Chapter 51.
