My Lucky Strike Chapter 31: Rumors, Runaways, and Random Kindness

Jabin and Gibaek (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)
Jabin and Gibaek (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)

My Lucky Strike Chapter 31 begins as things at school are settling down, although things aren’t completely back to normal yet. Jabin says her job is done and immediately leaves after Siru calls her. But Gibaek stops her cold and asks her name. Before leaving, she tells him, ‘Maybe next time,’ and he ends up confused, doubting if they’ve met somewhere else. As Bang-A starts chatting about Siru and Cheong being together, Gibaek’s fashion sense kicks in to give himself credit for his clothes.

Having made it out unseen, Jabin walks over to Siru’s apartment. However, the big guy’s T-shirt caught her attention. Hmm… Siru’s not staying alone. At the same time, Cheong and Siru get together. Because the rumors are still swirling, Siru apologizes for involving Cheong in all of it. He just says it’s no big deal and tells her not to mind what people say. Siru can’t help but notice how grown up and relaxed he seems, compared to how she feels most of the time.

While they get started on sketching, Siru’s curiosity wins out. She takes a moment, gazes at him, and then wants to know why he treats her so kindly. My Lucky Strike Chapter 31 ends with Siru wanting to understand Cheong’s kindness, since her emotions and the rumors are getting mixed up.

Chapter 32: Misread Signals and Silent Showdowns

Siru and Cheong
Siru and Cheong

My Lucky Strike Chapter 32 starts with Cheong explaining to Siru why he’s always nice to her. Hearing that it’s just a ‘sense of service’ makes Siru think about how good-looking he is. But what he says makes her laugh – she honestly thought he had a crush on her! She just brushes it off as a crazy idea and gets back to the work talk. But as she changes the subject, smiling to herself, Cheong looks a little…down.

In class the next morning, Siru stuns Gukhwa by finishing her assignment so perfectly. She and Cheong both give each other quiet thumbs-up, acting like they’re in on some secret. Gibaek shows up just after that, all dressed up as if he has a big job interview coming up, not a college lecture. She notices what’s up, and before she thinks about it, he just asks her if she wants to hang out this weekend. She just says yes immediately.

Meanwhile, Gibaek, being his usual competitive self, leans in and softly brings up whether Cheong’s been having fun with Siru without making it official. Cheong pretends it’s only campus talk, but Gibaek won’t let it go and asks if Cheong has any feelings for her since he’s thinking about making a move.

Cheong goes silent. And sometimes, silence says everything.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 32 ends as  Cheong is left surprised and looking at the first real danger to his friendship with Siru.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 33: Blushes, Bruises & Brewing Chaos

Siru and Gibaek (My Lucky Chapter Chapter 31-40)
Siru and Gibaek (My Lucky Chapter Chapter 31-40)

Siru says at the beginning of My Lucky Strike Chapter 33 that she can’t come over this weekend because she’s working. She quickly suggests that they could do it next week instead. Gibaek pats her head and agrees as he walks away. Siru’s brain just stops working—she’s blushing, really flustered, and feeling amazing. Cheong, seeing Siru was off in her world, asks what’s up. Siru just brings up Tuesday for their next sketching, and they say goodbye.

Cheong gets home and finds his house in a mess again. He looks over and sees Mijeol lying on the floor, acting like she’s seriously hurt, although it’s all an act and still a little shocking. Their mom comes in, annoyed that Cheong seems to be struggling with his job of looking after Mijeol. Cheong sits by Mijeol and says, completely straight-faced, that he knows she isn’t hurt. With just a crack of her eyes, Mijeol wants him to haul her off to bed like a heroine from a drama.

Mijeol begins to tell her dramatic story as soon as she’s in bed. She says she was with a guy last night, things between them got hot, and then he suddenly threw her into a nightstand and gave her bruises. The reason? She supposedly said it would be more exciting to have Siru join in. Yep, Mijeol mentioned Siru in the whole story, too. Cheong, not interested anymore, sighs and leaves the room.

Mijeol sits there, getting more frustrated, thinking Cheong doesn’t seem to notice how off she is. But if he doesn’t pay attention to her drama, Mijeol says she’ll take it up a level. My Lucky Strike Chapter 33 ends as Mijeol is scheming something new.

Chapter 34: Stress Relief & Spicy Realizations

Siru and Cheong
Siru and Cheong

My Lucky Strike Chapter 34 being as Siru and Jabin have a meal together. But Jabin can tell right away that Siru is in a really good mood. Suspicious much? Siru does her best to look relaxed, but deep down, she’s freaking out about her date with Gibaek. Even though it’s still a week off and she’s already scared he might not show up.

By Tuesday, Siru’s stress is getting out of hand. She gets to the sketching session with Cheong an hour late and says her alarm didn’t go off. Cheong, instead of getting upset, boops her nose and calls off the session since he’s just not in the mood. Mood ruined? Clearly. So they wind up having dinner, and Cheong tries eating some spicy tteokbokki. He’d seen online that spicy food is supposed to help with stress.

Siru, feeling bad about it, asks if she’s bringing him down and then plans an all-out ‘VIP treatment’ for him. First stop: ice cream. Second: photo booth fun. Third: karaoke chaos. Fourth: a mini soccer match. Once it was all over, Cheong looked worn out and much older, catching his breath and being dramatic. Her plan seems to have helped a little, because he’s a lot more relaxed now.

Heartbreaks

While giving him the sports drink, Siru says she didn’t think he could get stressed, being so robotic. Cheong laughs, takes a sip of her drink, and tells her he trusts her. As she tries to think about how to bring him home, he nods off on her shoulder and mumbles about the ‘date.’ She figures out the drink was alcoholic, and it’s 4.5% strength. Cheong, barely awake, tells her not to go out on that date right before his glasses slip off. My Lucky Strike Chapter 34 ends as Siru is left stunned, carrying a dozing Cheong, a half-finished can, and a bunch of new feelings.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 35: Popcorn, Panic & Plot Twists

Siru and Cheong (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)
Siru and Cheong (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)

My Lucky Strike Chapter 35 starts as Siru tries to wake up Cheong, but they both fall over in a heap. Right when it seems like a classic K-drama scene is happening, Cheong freezes her hand… and almost throws up. Romantic tension = instantly ruined. The following day, Siru sends him a message just to make sure he’s okay after last night’s unexpected alcohol and spicy food. He replies with a simple ‘yes,’ but Siru keeps going over what he quietly whispered when he was drunk. “Don’t go on the date.” Cue emotional confusion!

The weekend is here at last, and it’s date day. Siru is so nervous she doesn’t know what to do. She skips her regular outfit and goes for a change. She turns up thirty minutes ahead of time, and Gibaek welcomes her with a nice ‘You look pretty,’ making her face go bright red. She tells him he looks good in his new clothes, and he says he got inspired to change after meeting someone who teased him for his style. It turns out that fashionista is someone Siru knows as well. She doesn’t quite get it, but she doesn’t ask about it.

New Experiences

When they walk in, Gibaek puts his arm around her and walks her past everyone else. Smooth.

But as soon as they’re inside, the movie turns out to be disappointing. It’s so not interesting, people begin to walk out during the movie. After a while, only Gibaek and Siru are left sitting in the huge, empty hall. He smirks and proposes they leave the boring movie and talk to each other instead!

As My Lucky Strike Chapter 35 finishes with the theater full of bored people, the two of them are lost in thought, and their conversation might make all the difference.

Chapter 36: I Confess, I’m Confused & That Phone Call

Siru and Gibaek
Siru and Gibaek

My Lucky Strike Chapter 36 starts with Gibaek finally being honest. Sitting in the almost empty theater, he confesses that he figured out her crush long before she said anything, even before last summer’s break! Siru, as you can guess, is super red-faced and just wants to disappear into the popcorn machine. But Gibaek goes on to say that he used to use excuses to keep people away. He likes making jokes about tall girls or giving unclear answers. It was his fault, not theirs. Seriously.

He tells Siru not to get caught up in his words and says he didn’t want to label their relationship until he knew how she felt. Siru is really surprised—she never thought Mr. Cool-and-Distant would ever be this open.

As soon as a couple of people come in, they both become quiet. Soon, the awkwardness goes away, and they have a great time for the rest of it.

Later, when Gibaek is walking Siru back home, he offers her a gentle hug and softly tells her, ‘Let’s call it a day.’ Siru takes off at once, her heart pounding in her ears, as if Cupid’s arrow factory just hit her all at once.

When she’s back at her place, all sorts of unexpected feelings show up. If Gibaek is exactly what she’s looking for and this is her ideal, why doesn’t it sit well? What is it with her brain that it keeps bringing up Cheong?

The next day, Bang-A is talking to Rookie Ryu, but then their conversation is cut short because Ryu gets a call from Mijeol. My Lucky Strike Chapter 36 finishes with one confession made, a heart that’s still not clear, and a call that might bring even more drama.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 37: Shoulder Shrugs & Shaky Exes

Siru and Cheong (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)
Siru and Cheong (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)

Siru begins  My Lucky Strike Chapter 37 by trying out a ‘science experiment’ of her own (Completely chaotic!). Wanting to see what happens, she tells Cheong to casually put his arm around her shoulder, says she’s ‘just checking,’ and walks off like it’s no big deal. She also tries the experiment in class with Gukhwa. Conclusion? No butterflies. She might have been feeling weird because that date night with Gibaek, her head was messed up.

As soon as class is over, Cheong gets a strange text and begins to walk out. Siru, being the social butterfly, invites Cheong to the group outing, but before he can say anything, Rookie Ryu walks up and puts her arm around him. Rookie starts going on about her text for Cheong, and before Siru can do anything, the group breaks up—Cheong leaves with Rookie, and Siru ends up being pulled off with Gibaek and the others.

While they’re walking, Gibaek brings up the topic: “So, is Cheong and his ex getting back together?” Siru’s thoughts go a little haywire for a second. While this is happening, Bang-A and her friends listen in, making sure they don’t miss any details for the next round of gossip.

Cheong tells Rookie that he doesn’t have any feelings left for her. Rookie doesn’t care and says Mijeol is to blame for their breakup. Cheong lets out a weary sigh and tells her that she can’t just push him around anymore. He’s not that guy anymore.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 37 ends as Siru is caught up in shoulder shrugs, Rookie won’t drop the ex subject, and Cheong makes it clear he’s setting some limits.

Chapter 38: Secrets, Sickness & Signals

Siru and Gibaek
Siru and Gibaek

Cheong stares at Rookie with obvious annoyance at the start of My Lucky Strike Chapter 38. Cheong is sure Mijeol is up to something again, especially after noticing Rookie with the same watch Mijeol wore before. It happens that this deja vu isn’t just a coincidence, because Cheong tells Rookie she’s repeating what she did two years ago when she spied on him for Mijeol. He goes off, warning her to stop pretending with his friends. Rookie just shrugs and quietly takes her phone out, where she was on a call with Mijeol the entire time, giving her a little update as if it matters. “He left.”

As they’re having dinner, Siru’s curiosity wins, and she brings up why Cheong and Rookie aren’t together anymore. Gibaek laughs and calls Cheong a player after someone says Cheong left her for another rich, gorgeous girl. In her head, Siru is wondering if that ‘rich girl’ was Mijeol.

Things take a strange turn when Gibaek touches Siru’s back—suddenly, she starts coughing violently, as if a bee is stuck in her throat. Is it nerves? Gibaek thinks it’s true, and she doesn’t say anything to argue. She takes her medicine, blushing and acting shy, as he leads her back home. When they get close to the place where Siru told him about her crush before, Gibaek admits he shouldn’t have left her with Cheong. He goes on, “It’s just shitty that Cheong is standing in the way of us.” Siru freezes.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 38 ends with Gibaek wanting to come up with her, and Siru’s anxiety kicks in.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 39: Upstairs Plans & Breakdown Battles

Siru and Gibaek (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)
Siru and Gibaek (My Lucky Strike Chapter 31-40)

My Lucky Strike Chapter 39 opens up with trouble popping up everywhere. Rookie tells Mijeol she’s not going to keep being her spy anymore. But Mijeol, being such a manipulator, pulls out the blackmail and makes sure Rookie can’t do anything.

While all that’s going on, Siru is back at her place, awkwardly telling Gibaek to wait as she speeds through cleaning her cluttered room. Gibaek’s eyes widen as he makes sure she means she wants him to come up. She says Sure, and he jokingly runs his hand through her hair and chuckles, telling her he just had to be sure. He leaves, and Siru starts to think about her feelings. Isn’t it normal to get a bit nervous and have butterflies when you like someone? But Gibaek’s night isn’t over. Friends call him up, and he smiles flirtatiously and says yes when they ask if Yumi is thinking of him.

At Cheong and Mijeol’s house, it all goes from uncomfortable to explosive. She enters the house and sees Cheong and their mom sitting with each other. Cheong isn’t having any of it—he tells their mom he wants to move out and walks away angrily. Mijeol jumps in front of Cheong to keep him from leaving, but their mom gives her a hard slap. She needs to know what Mijeol did that led Cheong to leave like this. Mijeol falls apart, yelling that Cheong belonged to her, her parents gave him to her, and now he’s being taken away from her by everyone.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 39 ends with a big family fight and a whole lot of heartbreak happening under one roof.

Chapter 40: Mixed Signals & Missing Pages

Siru and Gibaek
Siru and Gibaek

My Lucky Strike Chapter 40 starts with a quiet Cheong getting a cab to the bus terminal, obviously wanting to escape the mess.

A day later, Siru meets Gibaek so she can give him the book back. He puts off their lunch without really thinking about it, but they never actually get together. Why? Gibaek always waits so long to respond that it’s usually a full day before she hears from him! Even so, both Cheong and Gukhwa get back to her super fast. Second, he’s busy most of the time with school activities or with things that nobody knows about. They only have a chance to see each other at school or during soccer. And third? She has this feeling that he doesn’t put her first.

Some time later, Gukhwa asks for one of Siru’s drawings and is impressed by the progress she sees—Siru’s been drawing out her emotions! She’s still not sure what’s going on, so Siru turns to Cheong and asks if school relationships ever are problematic and do not work out. He says yes. She wants to know if the rumors are the real issue, so Cheong admits that Rookie was behind all of it. Oof.

As they get set to draw together, Siru suddenly sees that several of her sketch pages are gone. Right before Siru can get nervous, Gukhwa enters, clutching those pages. He starts throwing accusations at her, saying Siru is tutoring people illegally.

My Lucky Strike Chapter 40 finishes off with a lot of drama, a big argument, and Gukhwa making Siru’s drawing session anything but peaceful.

As emotions intensify, My Lucky Strike leaves us wondering—will Siru follow her heart or stay tangled in confusion?
