The beloved Your Throne webtoon by SAM has captivated readers through its breathtaking art, captivating storyline, and uniquely interesting characters like Medea Solon and Psyche Callista. It is a story full of drama, action, revenge, and romance that can give any reader an emotional rollercoaster, putting its fans at the edge of their seats, awaiting the following chapters of this webtoon. In this article, we will delve into the aspects that may have gone awry in Your Throne webtoon.
A Short Rant | Your Throne Webtoon
Slow-Paced Narrative of Your Throne Webtoon
One significant issue that Your Throne webtoon faces is its slow pacing. The webtoon had a strong and steady start, featuring engaging characters. However, after Medea Solon became the duchess, the plot began to drag. The influx of plot twists and significant backstories for secondary characters has caused the main storyline to fade into the background. While storytelling is essential, when the original plot deviates and the pacing slows down, viewers are likely to lose interest and move on. There are so many repetitive flashbacks and unless you read this webtoon very vigorously, you’re bound to forget half of the things that happened and won’t enjoy the full experience of this fantasy revenge webtoon.
Underutilized Character: Psyche Callista
Another issue we see is the underutilization of several Your Throne characters. For instance, Psyche, Helio, and Pell have become almost nonexistent in the story. After Medea Solon becomes the empress, Psyche Callista seemingly disappears from the story. And it’s hard to accept that she now distrusts Medea. Despite their history of camaraderie and the support Medea provided, Psyche chooses to trust Lira—a character she has known for just a few episodes—over her. And now, she is nowhere to be seen.
After Medea becomes empress and 10+ chapters Psyche is still not seen. She is supposed to be one of the main characters along with Medea Solon and now after realizing the truth of the Pope and her father’s past, she flees and is never to be seen again. Medea indeed sends her away for her safety, but Psyche Callista has grown so much, and if we dare say even more than Medea.
Story of Helio Niccolo
Helio Niccolo is another underdeveloped character in Your Throne webtoon. Despite receiving a flashback story, Helio’s role in the series remains flat, showing no real growth or change. After 200+ chapters, it’s difficult for readers to stay engaged with a character who feels stagnant, even though the series isn’t finished and there’s still time for development. Helio’s only role is to be Medea’s dog. Now, in the coming episodes, he does rebel and we might get him to rebel against Medea too but I feel like as a warlord, his presence in the webtoon is just to elevate Medea Solon’s character. We do hope Helio gets his justice and gets to be with his love, Medea Solon at the end.
Role of Supporting Side Characters
As for supporting characters like Perion aka Pell, we are yet to know his entire plot and contribution to Your Throne webtoon. There seems to be more potential for exploration, yet we remain in the dark about his origins. Is he a divine being like Psyche? What is his purpose? The main issue is that the webtoon often burdens the narrative on Medea Solon, who tries to carry everything but still finds herself failing. This creates a challenging dynamic for the overall story, as so much potential remains unexplored. Like Psyche, he too vanished into thin air. As one of the main supporting characters, seeing his story being untold is disappointing.
Characters like Dekis and the Queen of Othilei have also been absent from the narrative for a significant period. Hence, their absence feels notable given the potential they have to impact the story. Medea sidelines Dekis, despite his potential to help her during her crisis, as she feels the need to handle everything herself. Both characters could bring valuable dynamics and perspectives to the unfolding events, yet they remain sidelined while the plot continues to develop without them.
When Will Your Throne Webtoon End?
Your Throne has now exceeded over 200 chapters, yet a resolution remains elusive. At this juncture, I find myself hoping for a tragic conclusion for Eros and The Pope. All the while desiring closure for Medea Solon and Psyche Callista. The narrative has become burdened with excessive plot twists and elements that render it somewhat convoluted and challenging to follow. We sincerely hope that Your Throne will culminate in a satisfying ending, as both Psyche and Medea have endured significant hardships. The presence of repetitive scenes and plot twists lacking foreshadowing contributes to a sense of complexity and inconsistency within the story.
Conclusion
This is merely a personal perspective and not intended as any form of criticism towards the webtoon. It’s simply an expression of the author’s thoughts. However, Your Throne has captivated me like no other story has in ages. The artwork is stunning, with a heavenly quality that draws you in. The attention to detail is impressive and meticulously crafted. While Your Throne has a few shortcomings, it continues to be a beloved and engaging webtoon. As readers, we can learn to embrace the story’s imperfections and appreciate the author’s dedication to crafting an enthralling narrative.
