In Refund High School Chapter 16-21, the primary focus was on Aru and Gunn and GHOSTAGRAM – sounds like Instagram? Yes, it is just like that, the students have to put up their picture and the number of leaves on the board resembles the number of likes. By the end of Chapter 21, we found Aru and Mook in an awkward situation. After doing all the work by the history teacher, Mook decides to check the pictures he clicked. Meanwhile, Aru informs Gunn she has left something in the classroom, to which Gunn doesn’t show much interest so Aru goes ahead alone and catches Mook red-handed watching one of her pictures on the projector alone.
So now let’s see if this aspect continues in the following chapters and how the storyline takes a different and more fascinating path.

ToggleRefund High School Chapter 22: Appearance of the King Yemma
Refund High School Chapter 22 continues the awkwardness between Aru and Mook. He informs Aru that there is some technical glitch and he can’t turn off the projector. In the next scene, Gunn is excited to show Aru what he learned so far. He starts to show off his longboard skill and then King Yemma appears in the scene. This particular escalates the reader’s interest when King Yemma says “They won’t be together after they know the reason behind their death” pointing towards Aru and Gunn. What is the reason? I’m hooked and can’t wait to know it!
The chapter concludes with the never-ending topic of “What is an Infernal spirit?” Mari witnesses her schoolmates discussing it in the corner which leaves both her and us in suspense.
Refund High School Chapter 23: Same Old ‘Gunn Not Paying Attention to Aru’
After Refund High School Chapter 22, the next chapter starts with ‘Gunn not paying any attention to Aru’. This makes Sehui reach out to Gunn saying she doesn’t like how he is neglecting Aru and paying more attention to Ghostagram. Gunn finally decides to pay more attention to Aru to not lose what they have. He sends a message in a paper aeroplane to Aru which first lands on Mook, but eventually gets to her. The message asked her to come to the photography club darkroom after school, where he would teach her how to develop films.
In the next scene, Mari starts investigating The Infernal Spirit and asks her classmates whether they’ve seen Waxy anywhere. The chapter ends with Aru and Gunn trying to have their first kiss where she gets really awkward and turns on the lights, ruining their first moment and more importantly- his films in the darkroom!!
Refund High School Chapter 24: What is the Infernal Spirit?
Chapter 24 revolves around a different topic than Aru and Gunn. Finally! In this chapter, Mari confronts Waxy about where he was the past few days. Waxy continues his same old dialogue about not finding the infernal spirit and how Chiyeol (the bully) will be mad about it. Talk about the devil and he’s here! Chiyeol witnesses Mari and Waxy talking and feels that instead of finding the infernal spirit, Waxy is here chit-chatting. Mari refuses to go of her outspoken attitude and scolds Chiyeol about being a bully and so does Chiyeol. Waxy informs, “Chiyeol thinks that no one would mess around with him and he’ll become really powerful if he catches the infernal spirit!”
Refund High School Chapter 25: Mari And Chiyeol
Refund High School Chapter 25 begins with a crisp scene amongst our favourite Mari (I mean she’s a total baddie and I love her ‘Don’t care’ attitude), Ghost Candle, and Chiyeol. Dicarius appears and asks all three of them to come with him and commands Aru to go to the dormitory as he is now suspicious that there is something fishy going on.
In the meeting, the history teacher suggested that Chiyeol should be in the ‘Detention centre’. What is a student detention centre? And who is Dante? We and Mari have the same doubts now. In this scene we learn Chiyeol died because of bullying. I mean the world is a full circle, isn’t it?
‘NOTICE OF DISCIPLINARY ACTION’- A notice is now being put on the school board following the Chiyeol incident. As a punishment, he has to volunteer fifty hours of work – cleaning all the bathrooms and ground in the school. Do you think he will be a better person after this?
The chapter ends with Mari being awarded the memory capsule by her ethics teacher, Gunn being absent everyone suspects that he and Aru are not a couple anymore, and last but not least, a huge black energy coming in front of Chiyeol suddenly. What could that be?
Chapter 26: New Characters (Yeohee and Dante)
Chapter 26 begins with the class discussing group work but Aru doesn’t seem to care much. She is upset with Gunn and doesn’t feel like participating in any project. I feel sad for her as she was happy to finally get a boyfriend. Gunn not being fazed out at all continues to post his picture on the Ghostagram. And now, we have a new character in the story – Yeohee. She’s pretty, she’s smart, and she knows what she wants. And also, she’s basically hitting on Gunn now.
By the end of this chapter, we finally get to meet Dante. Dicarius enters the detention center to check upon Dante, who is requesting to be free. On the other hand, Aru’s girl gang helped her feel a little better by bringing her some snacks, while she was cleaning the room. In the next scene, Mari receives a package from her past life, which is a cute pink frock and she wonders if she was a princess in her past life. The chapter ends with Mari thinking whether she should eat the memory capsule or not.
Refund High School Chapter 27: Mari’s Secret Buddy
The ethics teacher is now doing her night duty and decides to clean the memory capsule box. But, she can’t find the ‘Triple memory capsule’ and more surprisingly, the capsule she was supposed to give Mari is still in the box. What is Mari having then? On the other hand, Mari gulps up the triple memory capsule and a very distinct past-life moment comes to her mind. Mari’s mom is sending her off to college saying that she can do anything she wants and deserves only princess treatment. Another memory is of her bullying a girl for damaging a ‘costly’ dress saying, “You couldn’t even buy this in two lifetimes.” That’s harsh!
In the next scene, we have a new picture of Gunn with a cute puppy on Ghostagram. I mean who doesn’t love a guy who loves animals? All the girls are drooling over Gunn and Aru feels left alone again. Moving to the classroom, the history teacher tells Mook to distribute letters to the class so they can write a letter to their secret buddy. Aru decides to write it for Gunn (obviously) but as she opens his locker, it is filled with gifts and letters. So Aru decides that she will hand it over to him the next day.
The chapter concludes with Aru opening her locker, and to her surprise her locker is filled with gifts. She receives an adorable letter saying, “This is your secret buddy. You’ve been looking sad lately, I bought you Melon Buns so that you cheer up since you look the prettiest when you smile!” That’s sweet!

Refund High School Chapter 28
Refund High School Chapter 28 begins with Mari daydreaming about her past. And, the thing she saw due to the memory capsule showed her a mirror of her present self. On the other hand, the ethics teacher is worried about the triple memory capsule and decides to ask for help from the gym teacher. Desperate to solve the situation, the ethics teacher listens to her devil’s side and nods to the gym sir to do what’s best for Mari. The next scene is quite surprising but weird at the same time, the gym teacher hypnotizes Mari into thinking that she is in a forest which results in all the memories fading away.
Everybody is shocked to learn about the upcoming midterm exams because no one was prepared for this news. The students move on to the group project and guess what? We now have Aru and Gunn back together. They’re doing their group project and decide to meet at the cafeteria later. And, their closeness annoys Yeohee. She is now hitting on Mook thinking he’s interested in her. Why? Just because he interrupted and told her to move aside as she was on his way. Oh, we have a ‘delulu’ girl here.
Refund High School Chapter 29
Chapter 29 continues with the scene between Yeohee and Mook. Aru feels insecure and questions herself – “Is that why Gunn is also impressed by Yeohee?” The class has started and the ethics teacher is encouraging the students to prepare well for the upcoming midterm exams. And, the good scorer will get a memory capsule.
Aru doesn’t seem happy and says that she doesn’t wanna win the memory capsule. She further says that how she’s not interested in knowing what her past life was because there will be nothing new, she’ll again be an average girl there. Hearing this, Aru’s friends hold and cheer her up by saying “You’re the biggest cutie in the world. The goddess of Reincarnation High!” These words lift Aru’s mood. Who doesn’t want friends like them?
The next scene is one of my favourites, not that I had a clue about it. Mook goes to the shop to buy Melon Buns, prepares important points of the history chapter, and keeps them in one locker. And now who’s locker, was it? Who in the reincarnation school like Melon Buns??
Refund High School Chapter 30: Aru And Mook
In Refund High School Chapter 30, Aru doesn’t feel like studying and lays down her head whimpering because her back hurts. The history teacher now visits Chiyeol and informs him that he doesn’t need to do the volunteering work during the exam weeks. To which Chiyeol replies, “Oh, that’s okay sir, I can do it”. I mean hardworking enough, but the smirk on his face tells me something is cooking.
In the next scene, Thorny is on his way to the dormitory but he suddenly catches Mook and the history teacher heading toward their common room. While peeking in their room, he sees the history teacher giving Mook a piece of paper. Thorny thinks it is their midterm exam’s question paper. However, in reality, it was just a list of foods the history teacher would prepare for Mook as a treat for studying hard.
So, now we have a new device in the story, ‘Guilt Detector’. We need such devices in real life too, they would solve half the world’s problems. It analyzes how you think and whether the answer you’ve written for ‘Mentally Understanding Ability’ aligns with what you feel or not. Mook gets a really interesting question – ‘What is the right way to resolve a conflict with a friend caused by a misunderstanding?’ Two things about the question that I really liked were
A) How this question beautifully aligns with his and Aru’s recent incident.
B) The options were really funny.
Overall
The storyline is back on track and should be appreciated how the creator has brought in new aspects to it, such as mentions of the detention center and Dante. really excited to learn the reason behind the whole scenario. Aside from that the triple memory capsule and guilt detector are amazing additions to make the story and characters rich. I’m eager to read the next chapters of Refund High School to understand the real meaning behind all these concepts.
