Read the Hooky Webtoon Review: Enter the world of magical wands, fire-breathing frogs, and flying brooms again. Witches and wizards are one of the most popular fantasy tropes in fiction. They conceal their powers and desperately try to blend in with the humans because what humans don’t understand, they kill. The extraordinary are thus transitioning into a dangerous minority that needs to be eradicated.
This dystopian world is depicted in most cultural touchstones like the X-Men, Harry Potter, and more. They usually have martyrs with contradicting ideologies. The passive kind – Charles Xavier and Albus Dumbledore to name a few who believe in peaceful acceptance. The aggressive ones like Magneto and Grindelwald take a violent stand to protect their brethren. Now what if both these ideologies are thrown on two 12-year-olds?
The Wytte twins Dorian and Dina have seen the worst of both sides. They have seen some of their own kind, the witches, devouring children. Conversely, humans burn the witches alive. The Hooky webtoon focuses on magical twins Dorian and Dani Wytte, raised in a sheltered environment. They believed witches lived harmoniously with humans by hiding their powers. And humans have accepted the existence of witches. Now exposed to the dark side made them question everything they believed in. Now, as prophecy foretells that one of them will bring forth chaos, their normal lives transition into a wild and unpredictable journey

Plot of Hooky Webtoon
The Revenge
“They chased us, hunted us, and burned us. Now, we’ll be the hunters. Our new King will guide us to achieve our awaited revenge.”
Says the letter Dorian and Dani found in the candy house deep in the forest.
12-year-old Dorian and Dani Wytte did not know the long history of hostile relations between the witches and the non-mages. Raised in a protected environment, they were protected from the fearful hands of the humans of the non-mages, who, out of fear, murdered several witches without listening to reason; and from the truth that the witches, their own kind, have massacred or enslaved non-mages, which made them feared among the humans.
How Did it Begin?
Their adventure began after missing their bus to the magic school. They decided to get a mentor to avoid getting an earful from their parents. After a series of events, such as escorting a prisoner and stealing a dragon’s egg, which led to their being declared traitors of the witch community, both Dorian and Dani experienced firsthand the horrors inflicted by both witches and non-mages during their venture into a witch’s candy house. The two traumatic experiences of seeing dead bodies of little children at the witch’s house and Dani almost burned alive by non-mages, Dorian and Dani were exposed to a dark side of the two worlds they loved and cherished.
Now that the prophecy says that one of the Wytt children will be the new witch King/Queen, Pendragon, the fortune-teller wizard sees a blurred future where an entity who resembles one of the Wytt twins will lead the destruction that is to come; Dani and Dorian will have to choose. Will they choose to avenge the murder of their brethren, wage war on the non-mages, and rule over them like the prophecy predicted? Or will they take the side of the non-mages and protect them from the witch’s uprising, which could revitalize the witch hunt that is currently banned? Which of the twins will become the next King?
The Prophecy
Pendragon, a wizard and soothsayer, is not good at a lot of things, but seeing the future is not one of them. He saw a vision where a war ensues, a war between the witches and non-mages. In this vision, he sees the witches winning, causing destruction and chaos, destroying the long-kept peace. And in this future, he sees a king who leads the witches, someone young, someone skinny with fair skin and pretty dark hair and eyes, a face resembling the twins.
Similarly, an old witch made another prophecy on the witch’s sabbath. A magical orb summoned by an old witch says the name “Wytte,” the new king who will lead the witches with a dark crown over his head. Both these prophecies strengthen the possibility that one of the twins will lead the witches and kill the current king.
The Main Characters of Hooky Webtoon
Dorian Wytte
Dorian Wytte, the second son of the Wytte family, is a brilliant and talented kid who has his way with magic. He is an exceptional wizard capable of casting even advanced magic after a few minutes of reading and whipping out potions that would even make Severus Snape proud. Some of his magical feats are superior even among the best.
The only thing he lacks is in making friends, sadly. Well-mannered and polite Dorian is bookish and keeps to himself most of the time but in no way timid or the silent type. He is the kind to google “how to make friends” and would diligently and proudly follow through the steps. Being too honest and blunt could also be one of the reasons he has no friends.
“Don’t you worry…… I’m gonna protect you”
Dorian is also the brave kid who steps up for his friends when in need, more so for his sister, Dani. From time to time, you would see Dorian as the kid with the kindest heart, especially when someone tests his kindness. Altogether, Dorian is someone who has all the makings of a hero.
Daniela Wytte
Daniela or Dani Wytte is a powerful and dedicated witch with untapped potential, she could become the strongest among the witches and wizards community. Unlike Dorian, Dani is not good with spells or any magic. Every spell she cast turns into something else, and the events following that make her feel insecure about using magic, so she decides never even to try. What she does not understand is that her misfires are spells never made before, and not in any textbooks. Her spells are so powerful that not even an expert can undo or reverse the effect. Her powers would make you agree with her magical abstinence.
“I’ve decided to stop making magic forever”
You would sympathize with Dani Wytte as you read the manhwa because this girl wouldn’t hurt a fly. Her decision never to use magic shows her kind-hearted nature. Dani is also the one to suffer the most among the twins in the initial chapters but she always bounces back stronger. She understands her brother’s dilemma and stands by him but holds him back when he goes too far.
