Previously in Marionetta, we left off with how Sahed runs to find Julia, thinking she is suffering or still locked up. But when he opens Tonny’s office, he sees that Julia is doing the accounting work for him. Julia almost kills Tonny, thinking he is the villain, and kills Grandpa. Let’s see what happens between Sahed and Julia in Marionetta Chapter 49-56.
Marionetta Chapter 49: Our Ship Is Drowning
Marionetta Chapter 49 begins with Sahed opening the door to Tonny’s office. Pissed, Tonny asks Sahed to get out immediately. Sahed said he agreed to compromise, but Tonny should keep his promise and save the Ah’kon. Even if they don’t go against the entire government of Kalgatt, they should at least destroy the research facility. Tonny agrees, saying he will personally help Sahed achieve that. But he won’t put the rest of the circus members in danger. Tonny even says, but he will make the planning in Sahed’s way too reckless.
After this, Tonny grabs Julia’s arm, pulling her. Tonny tells him to stop. Julia says to Tonny not to worry and that Sahed and she have to talk, and Tonny doesn’t worry, they won’t plan to assassinate him again.
Sahed drags Julia to the corner of the other room. Julia blushes as Sahed holds her. He asks why she is working for him. She tells him that it wasn’t right to try and kill Tonny. Sahed is enraged, saying that in a few days after talking with Tonny, Julia melted. Julia says she is taking care of the documents because she can, and they really shouldn’t be together or talk to each other. Sahed says Julia looks dull, like she has lost her hope. Julia said she looks fine and Sahed shouldn’t talk to her because together they are dangerous, because together they really tried to murder someone. Sahed asks if Tonny asked her for this, but Julia said it’s her own decision.
Chapter 50: A Glimpse of the Past
Marionetta Chapter 50 starts as Sahed storms off, leaving Julia alone. We see a glimpse of what happened before. Previously, after the attempted murder when Tonny calls Julia to talk to her. Julia starts sobbing, apologizing, saying she deserves to be punished because she has done something awful to Tonny. Then she begs Tonny not to hurt Kamille because she was innocent. Julia says she was blinded by her pressure and the contract and let herself be misled by Sahed, as the contract told her to kill Tonny in a year, otherwise she would die.
Tonny grabbed her by the shoulders and told her down tell her she won’t be punished and neither will Kamille. And that he is sorry for letting Julia be alone in her turmoil, and worse for leaving Julia alone with the reckless Sahed. He promises Julia he won’t let her die in 8 months. But no more betrayals among them, and they have to trust each other. He will make sure Julia feels at home in that circus.
So Julia had decided to distance herself from Sahed. For she wanted to uphold Tonny’s trust in her, after all, he had forgiven her for doing such a heinous act against him.
Marionetta Chapter 51: Amelia’s Cruelty
Marionetta Chapter 51 starts with Amelia and her husband in the research centre, talking about how everyone was useless. All the doctors have made a single new discovery on the seals. Her husband agreed with her. They strolled over to the next research room where a doctor was monitoring them while an Ah’kon was on his hands and knees with weights on his back, while the other Ah’kon were drawing seals. Amelia came and added more weights even when the doctor complained the specimen might be broken beyond repair. However, Amelia didn’t listen and said to him, then the Ah’kon screamed about his back and collapsed. Amelia’s husband grabbed Amelia and held her from falling down. While the other Ah’kon were muttering whether he was alive or not. Amelia turned to the doctor and said to push their limits, and if one specimen breaks, to bring in another one.
Amelia then tells her husband she finds something off about the circus, and he should find out what’s up with Sahed. The Ah’kon who shares the same name as the one who ran away during her grandfather’s time. On the other hand, we see Kamille helping Julia to fit in and trying to do acrobatics.
Chapter 52: Dotty Is Scary
Marionetta Chapter 52 starts with Dotty Makin am announcement that they decided to start a new theme with this circus by making it a circus horror show. And they got this idea from Julia’s knife throwing, someone commented that they wish it had actually killed Tonny.
Tonny then continued the announcement by saying Dotty will be in charge of the finances as usual, but Julia would be the new director, and Tonny will take a break.
Julia gets swamped by cheers immediately and gets a little embarrassed. Dotty pulls her aside, tells her she is glad they are friends once again. However, if she does anything to harm the circus, she will make Dotty her enemy. Dotty threatens Julia scarily. Julia realizes Dotty is as dangerous as the others in the circus. After all, it was Dotty’s idea to start the circus, so keeping the perfect circus might be her idea of happiness.
Then Tonny calls Dotty to a secret meeting. Julia tries to snoop and hears Sahed quarrelling with the others in a meeting about destroying the research faculty. Then he angrily leaves, exposing Julia. Tonny tells Julia she is free to help, but Julia refuses.
Marionetta Chapter 53: Coping Mechanism
Marionetta Chapter 53 starts with Julia refusing to help in the destruction of the research center. In this chapter, we get a look at Julia’s mental stability or instability. It’s portrayed really well, she has stopped worrying much. Her clothes are now black and white, and she blindly trusts someone with higher authority than her. She completely trusts. When Kamille asks her about the discerning contract, she replies that Tonny is going to take care of it. That’s why she wouldn’t participate in destroying the research facility, as she doesn’t want to mess things up like the previous time. Then she asks Kamille about her sexuality. Kamille openly comes out as lesbian, saying that she had always liked the idea of kissing a woman, but men, she doesn’t want to.
We can also get the feeling that Julia is being lied to again, but this time by someone with more power. We have always known that Tonny, as Sahed had pointed out, doesn’t take his promises very seriously. And Julia shouldn’t trust Tonny blindly.
Chapter 54: Kamille Steps Up As A Friend
Marionetta Chapter 54, we see that Julia is getting nightmares and flashbacks with blood on her hands in her sleep. So, Kamille decides to investigate for her friend. She goes into the room which leads to the monster’s attic and makes a fuss as it was closed, telling Julia to annul’s contract and leave her alone. The monster throws a crumpled note at Kamille with the words “just kill Tonny” written. It pisses her off even more and is cursing at it when Dotty ask her what she is doing and Kamille shows her the crumpled paper. Dotty says to ask Rainah, as she is the oldest after Tonny.
Kamille feels she can’t sit by and do nothing, and she feels Julia has already given up. Outside, she spots Tonny in a trance, staring at something. Kamille walks up to him and tells him to take better care of her friend. Tonny promises to do so, otherwise, Kamille can just kill him. Then when Julia asks what’s happening Kamille says Tonny was staring at her butt. Disgusted, Julia asks Tonny to have work ethics after all, he is her boss.
Marionetta Chapter 55: Political Views
Marionetta Chapter 55 starts with Tonny stopping the troop in a creek and making an announcement of destroying the research center to save the Ah’kons. Everyone objects, saying it will put them in danger. Tonny tries to calm them down, but Sahed loses his patience, throws an angry fit, and leaves.
Dotty says to Rainah and others, even if only Tonny helped, it would put the rest of them in danger. Rainah calls Dotty a jerk and leaves.
Chapter 56: Sahed Is In Love?
Marionetta Chapter 56 starts with Sahed looking disgusted and listless at the response of people to the suffering of others. Rainah calms him down, saying some people act that way because the circus is too isolated from the people of the outer world. The circus is like a place where time has frozen, and Sahed is angry because he joined recently, and he still hasn’t lost that spark of life in him.
We see Julia acting sad with Kamille on the other side. Kamille says Julia is worried about Sahed. And Kamille is in her thought thinking about how to mend the relationship with Rainah and make sexy costumes for her.
And when Julia comes out wearing her new costume, Sahed blushes and tells Rainah he needs to go over and tease her. Rainah replies that Sahed had been flirting with Julia since the day she came.
