In the previous chapters of Down to Earth, a new character, Ethan, an alien enthusiast, appeares. Full of questions and speculations, he wanted to know more about Zaida. In Down to Earth Chapter 25-34, we also meet Kade’s childhood friend and learn more about Kade’s past. Throughout all this, Kade and Zaida get closer and more comfortable with each other. Without further ado, let’s see how this romance webtoon develops with this human and alien duo.
Down to Earth Chapter 25-34: Ellie’s Appearance
Down to Earth Chapter 25: Abilities
Down to Earth Chapter 25 begins with Zaida explaining everything to Ethan back at their home. Ethan, excited, asks her if she can demonstrate her abilities and is ecstatic when she does so. Kade is noticeably disturbed when Zaida touches her forehead with Ethan’s to read his mind. She jumps when she shrieks at the thought Ethan has about her ‘large bottom. ‘ On the other hand, he got distracted by the fact that he too could read her thoughts about art, at which Zay explains that they had ‘shared’ thoughts. This prompts Kade to ask why she hasn’t read his mind yet, to which she replies that she was gathering information and was not keen on sharing her thoughts yet.
Ethan asks about Zaida’s passion for art and wishes to see it. While she goes to fetch them, he asks Kade if sex for them is the same as for humans. He turns all red and explains how they aren’t together. Zaida returns to a ‘pizza-sauce-red’ Kade and awkward Ethan. On getting the gist of the topic, she confirms how their relationship is only filial and proceeds to show her art. Ethan, as nosy as ever, is then interested in why she left Zodia and prods too much. Kade gets annoyed at this and decides that Ethan has officially overstayed his welcome. Down to Earth Chapter 25 ends with Zaida asking Kade what exactly Ethan had asked while she was away.
Chapter 26: No Feelings
Down to Earth Chapter 26 shows a red-faced yet curious Zay asking how mating is done among humans. Kade immediately stops her and says it’s too awkward and that it should be something she and her future lover discuss. She suggests him as her future lover and asks him to explain. He explains how that is not the way it works and asks if she has never liked anyone before. Evading the question, she turns her head.
Kade, figuring out that Zay had never fallen in love, approves of it and says how one should never fall in love and how if she ever develops those feelings, she should push it deep down, shit it out and flush it away. They part ways with Kade, reminding her of the importance of Rule No. 3. While about to sleep, he gets a text from Ellie, his ex, asking if he would be home. Trying to avoid her, he answers with a brusque ‘No’ and tosses his phone. The next day, while Kade is teaching Zay the alphabet, suddenly, the doorbell rings. Zay rushes to open it despite his warning. Down to Earth Chapter 26 ends with Zay finding Ellie on the other side.
Down to Earth Chapter 27: Kade’s Past
In Down to Earth Chapter 27, a moment of awkwardness ensues, after which Zay invites Ellie for pancakes. Ellie warily observes her and assures her that she isn’t there to cause trouble and that she just wants a moment with Kade. He comes up behind Zay, and Ellie joins him for breakfast, much to his disapproval. While he makes pancakes at the table, she tries to strike up a conversation with Ellie, which the latter avoids.
Realizing that Zay is persistent, Ellie decides to talk about her and Kade’s past. The chapter shows a flashback of kids Ellie and Kade. Ellie had met him at third-grade gym class, where they had to choose a partner for activities. He always had trouble getting a partner, and Ellie, noticing this, chose him every day. They grew close and eventually became really good friends. One day, he confided in Ellie about his crush, a girl wearing a Muddvans shirt with a pink streak in her hair. Ellie, having already befriended her, asks if he would like her to introduce them. Down to Earth Chapter 27 ends with Ellie’s promise to introduce them.
Chapter 28: Delilah
In Chapter 28 of Down to Earth, back in the present, Kade serves breakfast, and Ellie is offended that Zay got whipped cream and cherry on hers while she didn’t, despite being the guest. She assumes he is trying to make her jealous as he was never the considerate type, while Zaida, always the peacemaker, gives Ellie her cherry. Still suspicious, she asks Zay if she knows Kade’s weird kink yet but is interrupted by his asking about the flashback, which she continues.
She introduces Delilah and Kade and regrets doing so, as he has completely changed since then. He did everything Delilah did, and it was always ‘Delilah this,’ ‘Delilah that.’ Finally, they started dating, leaving Ellie feeling left out. However, 5 years after graduating high school, they suddenly break up, and Kade goes back to Ellie, lost and helpless. She advises him to stop dating and give himself a break, which he obviously didn’t follow. After 3 continuous failed relationships, he goes back to her, and Ellie, annoyed, demands why he had abandoned her once Delilah had entered his life. He retorts that she has started ignoring them, and they start arguing. He calls her foolish for thinking he would ditch her and argues with her. Chapter 28 of Down to Earth ends with Ellie grabbing his collar and kissing him.
Down to Earth Chapter 29: Acceptance
In Chapter 29 of Down to Earth, they pull apart, and Ellie confesses how she has liked him throughout everything. How she misses the sweet and fun Kade and their time together. She tells him how she wants to be with him and bring back the old Kade at the same time respects his decision if he is not interested. However, he pulls her close and kisses her, and so they start dating.
Ellie says how all of it was pure lust and nothing more and blames Kade for taking advantage of her love for him. He argues that she had taken advantage of his desperation, which Ellie agrees to, surprising him. Crying, Ellie admits that she had just wanted to be with him despite knowing how it would end. Zay, deciding its time she stepped in, takes Ellie by the arm and takes her to the bedroom.
Still wary of Zaida, Ellie asks if she will support Kade and lecture her. Hurt, she says she would never do that and that she had thought that Ellie and Kade needed some space. Ellie apologizes and, regretting her hostility, compliments Zaida’s hair. They talk, and she assures her that he still cares about her. Ellie says how Zay’s too good for him before catching sight of the pictures from the photo booth. Ellie asks her how she got him to be so happy with a shadow of the ‘old Kade’ showing. Down to Earth Chapter 29 concludes with Ellie’s amusement seeing Kade happy.
Chapter 30: Amends
In Down to Earth Chapter 30, Ellie asks Zaida to keep doing whatever she is to make Kade smile, as he hasn’t been like that in a very long time. The next scene shows him and Ellie on the porch, apologizing and making amends. Ellie tells him how she’s moving out of town the next day, and as she leaves, He admits to finding her cute and how he, too, had loved their time together. Ellie, feeling overwhelmed and proud, tells him how Zaida has such a good influence on him and hugs him tight. Zaida comes out, and the two girls promise to meet each other and catch up. Down to Earth Chapter 30 ends with Ellie leaving, clearing things up with him, and seeing a hint of his old self.
Down to Earth Chapter 31: Kade’s New Job
Down to Earth Chapter 31 shows Kade at his new job as a cashier at MallMart. His very first day is shown to be frustrating due to annoying customers when Ethan shows up to check on him. Ethan suggests that he should let him hang out with them more since he helped Kade get the job. He declines immediately, still wary of him. He says that Ethan’s knowing about them before the teashop meant that he was stalking them, which is why he has trouble trusting them. Ethan explains how he had just coincidentally met and recognized them at the teashop and how he means no harm. He changes the topic to how Ethan got a Management position while being a high schooler. A customer interrupts them, prompting Ethan to leave him to work.
The next scene shows Kade returning home and teaching Zay to read. They talk about his new work and how she finds Ethan friendly and kind. He tries to explain how people can be kind with ulterior motives and how Ethan could easily blackmail them into something, as Zaida is a really pretty woman. Down to Earth Chapter 31 ends with Kade worrying about this, not knowing he lost Zay when he called her ‘really pretty.’
Chapter 32: Butterflies
In Down to Earth Chapter 32, Zaida can’t move past the fact that Kade had called her ‘very pretty’ despite him trying to emphasize that his point was Ethan’s blackmail content over them. She confides how hearing that from a friend feels good, reviving the earlier butterflies within him, which he again slaps down. As Zaida is about to get ready for sleep, he stops her to ask about her telepathy. However, he stops himself, and they part ways to sleep.
The next day, at his new job, he meets a cute, tall girl with dyed hair. She catches him staring and, offended, asks if it’s because of her vitiligo. Surprised, Kade immediately apologizes and quickly bills her. While handing over the bag, she is impressed by his tattoos and admits that she would’ve gotten one if she hadn’t been too much of a wimp. Before leaving, she warns him not to gawk at girls, calling him a pervert. Down to Earth Chapter 32 ends with Kade thinking the girl is cool.
Down to Earth Chapter 33: Pervert
Down to Earth Chapter 33 opens with Zay and Kade playing video games, during which he tries to ignore the urge to grab her thighs. Suddenly, he remembers the girl from the mall calling him a pervert, which bothers him a lot. Zay, noticing Kade is disturbed, is about to ask him when suddenly he gets a hallucination of the other girl in her place calling him a pervert. Startled, he asks her what she has called him, and Zay notes that he doesn’t look so well. The next morning, she wakes up and, upon finding Kade still asleep, jostles him awake, at which he yells it’s his day off and goes back to sleep.
In the next scene, they freshen up, and Zay is playing video games while Kade munches away on chips. While she tries to reach into the bag of chips, he scolds her and says he doesn’t want to get his console dirty. Zaida suggests he should feed her chips while she plays, at which point he changes the topic to her telepathy. Down to Earth Chapter 33 ends with Kade wanting to try Zay’s telepathy.
Chapter 34: Distractions
In Down to Earth Chapter 34, Kade suggests Zay use her telepathy so as to increase the pace of her learning process. However, she is anxious about him reading her thoughts, just as he is. Kade thinks of how Zaida was not in the least hesitant while using telepathy on Ethan. An awkward silence ensues, after which they both declare their sudden need to brush their teeth.
Once Zaida’s done brushing, she takes off the towel, drying her hair, and notices how it’s still damp. On the other hand, Kade gets lost at the sight of Zaida’s neck and her damp hair cascading over her shoulders. She floats over to Kade to read his mind. She gets close to him quickly, and he loses control of his thoughts. He battles with his thoughts and backs out right before their foreheads touch. He excuses himself by declaring he hasn’t bathed and goes off to shower. While showering, he reflects on his thoughts and impulses when she’s too close and is confused since he hadn’t felt like this with his previous dates. Wanting to show her he isn’t a complete pig, he calms himself before going out.
The next scene shows Kade calm and ready on the living room sofa. Zaida asks him to close his eyes, and he feels a sudden warmth in his leg. Down to Earth Chapter 34 ends with Kade opening his eyes and seeing Zaida sitting on his lap.
