The popular Tower of God manhwa made its way to the small screen in 2020. The story follows Twenty-Fifth Bam and his transformation from being a clueless innocent to a courageous fighter who grows stronger with each test in the titular Tower. Initially, he enters the Tower to find his friend Rachel, however, now he plans to climb the peak of the Tower. Although the first season covered some plot lines, Tower of God anime Season 2 will likely cover some of the major arcs.
The anime adaptation is almost as perfect as the original story. One of the best aspects of the adaptation is that it didn’t eliminate the major plot points, keeping the originality of the story intact. Despite being faithful to the original story, some things are not easy to adapt. Here are the key differences between the Tower of God manhwa and the anime Season 1.

ToggleLevin the Hunter in the Anime and Manhwa
If you have watched the anime you’ll likely remember Levin being the first victim of Rak Wraithraiser in the Field Test. Levin throws a fit during the introduction of Lero and faces a powerful shinsu blast. This is how Levin’s story concludes in the Tower of God anime. However, the manhwa readers had more context about the hunter. In the original story, he continues to climb the titular tower as a Light Bearer and makes his way to the last test with the story’s protagonists Bam and Khun. However, his rifle is left in the field that Rak dropped it in when they first met.
The Black March and the Crown Game
The Black March debuts in the anime in the same way as the original story. Princess Yuri helps Bam during the Headon’s test and offers him the Black March to help him pass. He manages to ignite the weapon and pass the test. However, his potential relationship with the Black March is different in the two mediums. The manhwa ends the Crown game with a flash of flight and no explanation, whereas in the anime, Bam meets the Black March at the end of the game, when she ignites to make the boy unconscious.

Endorsi’s Orbs
Endorsi is a powerful character in the Tower of God manhwa and anime. When she enters during the Crown Game scene, she proves that she is one of the most powerful Regulars alongside Bam and Khun. In the manhwa, she has control over a set of black and orange orbs that she can use to block her enemies’ attacks. However, the anime replaces these orbs with speed and physical strength.
Suspendium in Tower of God Manhwa
To maintain the enigma of the tower Bam, Khun, and Rak explored in the first season, some details are doled out. Luckily, manhwa being the source material and long format medium, it manages to fit in more information than the anime. One such example is Suspendium – Suspendium is not present in the anime. However, the manhwa describes that this material allows the lighthouse to levitate. In some episodes, we see Khun using the blue rock as a currency. The show will likely introduce the floating rock in the upcoming seasons.
Twenty-Fifth Bam’s Training With Endorsi
The Tower of God anime is faithful to the source material. However, Bam and Endorsi’s bond didn’t get much screen time. In the manhwa, readers get to see more of Bam’s training scenes with Endorsi before the final exam. He stops the bull with the reverse flow control technique Bam picked from Qaunt. However, in the adaptation, Bam never manages to accomplish this feat. Bam seems more confident in the final test of the source material due to his time training with the Princess of Jahad.
The Tower of God Season 2 release date is set for the July window. The first two episodes will premiere at Anime Expo 2024 on July 6.
