The Dickheads Chapter 1–10 teaches the characters that it’s okay to have messed up life and still having friends.
The Dickheads Chapter 1: Eliana’s First Day in School
The Dickheads Chapter 1 begins with our main character, Eliana Marie, as she enters Marleis High after leaving her old school and hometown because of the bullies. Her nerves get the best of her, making her trip in the hallway as you’d expect in a rom-com. She pretends everything is fine and tries to hide it from everyone, but someone notices. She visits the guidance office to pick up her schedule and meets her school guide, Amelia Oda, the principal’s daughter. Amelia quickly shows her around and informs how that everyone is keen to meet the new student.
After roaming around the school for a while, Amelia and Eliana bump into a group of students. Amelia’s friends saw them, so they decided to do a little meet-and-greet with the new girl. Suddenly, they start talking about Amy’s (Amelia) ex. On the other hand, Eliana is clueless about what to do. Should she butt in or stand there like it’s no big deal to hear about this gossip. Nancy saves our damsel in distress by introducing herself to Eliana. One thing we are certain of is that our protagonist is a serious overthinker. Suddenly, the bell rings and Amelia decides to go ahead to her class with her friends. She asks if Eliana would be able to reach her class on her own, and receives a positive reply.
It’s lunch time, and to Eliana’s surprise, Amelia excitedly invites her to sit with her group. Apologetic, Eliana asks if it’s okay to quickly get her ID card. Amelia casually says it’s perfectly alright and she will save a seat for her. The Dickheads Chapter 1 ends with Amelia happily entering the office with the thought of making new friends and meeting a new face.
Chapter 2: Eliana Meets Levi
The Dickheads Chapter 2 starts as Eliana is caught off guard as she meets a quiet guy. Of course, she blurted out, “What happened to your face?” and instantly panicked. She starts complimenting the guy and even ends up calling him pretty. Oddly, he feels a little shy and tosses the compliment to her as well. He explains that he got into a fight with a bully and ended up in the office. Just like Eliana, he panics thinking it was TMI.
Eliana tries to comfort him, saying if he thinks he did the right thing in that moment, that’s what matters the most. Moreover, she would love it if someone would stand up for her. Their conversation got interrupted by the entry of a ginger-haired man, most likely his father. As he was about to leave, Eliana interrupted, and they formally introduced each other. (Levi is one of Eliana’s first friends, and we are assuming this character will play a massive role in her life in the future.)
Eliana Meets Marco
Later, as Eliana steps out of the main office, Amelia lets her know lunch is done and that this evening is movie night. While trying to convince her, one of Amelia’s friends says, It’s the only time we can get away from our parents. For some reason, this triggers her and she rushes out of the premises. As she is trying to vent out her frustration of not being able to keep calm by screaming, someone interrupts her from behind the tree, asking if she is alright. (It’s the same dude who noticed her in the hallway but didn’t laugh.) Embarrassed, Eliana apologizes and tries to get up to find a new spot. He grabs her shirt, saying she can sit here. He apologizes for grabbing her shirt like that and stutters out of panic. (Another potential friend spotted!)
Eliana notices his drawing and starts complimenting his skills. She asks if this is his career path. He blushes, saying perhaps, but for now it’s just a hobby. He says he is a senior, and they had the first period together. Shocking Eliana, he also calls her by her name. The Dickheads Chapter 2 ends with Eliana making another friend, Marco.
The Dickheads Chapter 3: Levi Is Jealous of Marco?
The Dickheads Chapter 3 starts with Marco giving Eliana his movie night ticket since he’d prefer to stay home. Eliana thanks her and wishes he would join her. As Eliana enters the gym area, Amelia greets her and apologizes, saying the actual event will start from six, not exactly after school. She replies, saying she doesn’t mind being early and would love to volunteer. So, Mr B assigns her the task of helping someone with the banner. (It’s Marco!)
TW: A lot of judgment! Judging Marco by his outfit, Amelia says he is likely a drug dealer, probably reeks of cigarettes, and looks like he is growing a raccoon on his face. Although shy, Eliana doesn’t hesitate to call her out. She almost advises Amelia not to base her opinion on someone just because she heard some things. What looks like anger suddenly disappears from Amelia’s face as she learns Levi just checked in.
Eliana decides to scare Marco and ends up getting paint splashed on her face. Marco immediately apologizes, but Eliana stops him, saying, they look ‘cool and artsy.’ She informs Mr B said he needs help. Quite the contrary, he seems all good, and Eliana praises the poster. On the other hand, Amelia is trying to convince Levi to give him a second chance. Suddenly, one of her friends interrupts, saying that the guy will eat the new kid alive today. Suddenly, Eliana sniffs Marco and, with glowing eyes, screams at Amelia, saying he smells like mangoes and oranges. He quickly places his hand on her mouth to keep her quiet. Seeing this, Levi abandons Amelia and decides to greet Eliana. The Dickheads Chapter 3 ends with Eliana hugging Levi, while he is glaring at Marco.
Chapter 4: Amelia Is Not A Friend Anymore
The Dickheads Chapter 4 begins with Eliana introducing Levi and Marco. The two boys stare at each other like they’re in a Western movie, though there’s more emotional drama and not as much dust. As Marco and Eliana decide to hang the poster outside the door, Levi also joins them. She mentions Marco had given her his movie night ticket. Levi is in disbelief. But he is secretly also glad that Marco won’t be there to share the adventure. It wasn’t until Eliana looked upset that he realized what he was doing.
While Eliana is trying to fix the banner but failing, Levi steps on the chair to save her from the misery. On the other hand, Marco looks at them defeatedly. Levi praises her drawing skills, and she lets him know that it’s all Marco. Marco says it is not a big deal and gets ready to leave. Meanwhile, Amelia and her friend are observing this whole thing. She confirms Levi hates Marco, he is just helping the new kid.
Eliana hugs Marco as he is about to leave. She asks him to text her whenever he gets the chance. This prompts Levi to give her phone to Eliana. Unable to stand this situation any longer, Amelia decides to take Eliana away from Levi, ending The Dickhead Chapter 4.
The Dickheads Chapter 5: Levi Needs Space
The Dickheads Chapter 5 starts as Levi stands in astonishment as Eliana shows off her odd soul touching skills in thumb fight. Amelia sprang back, holding popcorn like a genie, hoping Levi would focus on her. Even so, he has no interest in developing that relationship. Eliana calls her smart for bringing a blanket, and Amelia decides to share it with her. She asks Levi if he wants to join, but he refuses. Suddenly, Amelia gets a text and rapidly leaves. Eliana reads a piece of the message, Amelia’s grandfather has passed away. She hurries and requests that Luce keep an eye on Levi.
After seeing the text, Eliana starts wondering about her abuelita (grandmother). Suddenly, Levi throws his jacket over her. They laugh and chat as the movie continues in the background. The Dickheads Chapter 5 ends with Eliana trying to console herself saying things will be different in this school.
Chapter 6: Grandma Warns Eliana
The Dickheads Chapter 6 starts as the party ends and Levi asks Eliana if he can drop her home. She kindly says no but tosses in a “we should get together again” off-hand, which makes Levi blush and tell her to message him. Smooth, Sir! Real smooth! Levi’s father interrupts, saying he doesn’t have all night.
The moment she gets home, Eliana falls onto the couch beside her grandma. After telling her, she was busy with an event with her friends. She points out, her last experience with chasing friends didn’t turn out so well. Her grandma suggests she prioritize more important matters, “Just focus on your education, and your career path, mija.”
The Dickheads Chapter 6 ends with Eliana receiving a text from Marco asking about the night. She types down a few lines but ends up deleting them.
The Dickheads Chapter 7: Eliana Calls Marco
The Dickheads Chapter 7 begins with Eliana thinlong about grandma’s word over and over like a broken record. What should she text back to Marco? Could Grandma’s words be true? What happens if she again falls into the same trap?
While at his own place, Marco is welcomed by his mother, who seems to be distressed. He makes it clear that it wasn’t his old smoking friends he was with—those he quit hanging out with two years earlier. He also acknowledges Joseph, his dad, for helping to reduce his mom’s anxiety.
Right before he gets to chill, his sister, Marci, comes in all wild and takes his phone just as it starts to ring. As usual, she is sassy and asks who “Elli” is before he quickly gets his phone back like a warrior. Later, he calls back Eliana. They are awkward and a bit shy as they talk. Marco asks about the movie night. She elaborates that she and Amy spent time with Levi. She says she had so much fun and quietly thinks about Levi. Marco stays calm and proposes a meeting over the weekend, ending The Dickheads Chapter 7.
Chapter 8: Marco And Eliana’s Day Out
The Dickheads Chapter 8 begins with Eliana rushing to go out with Marco. Although Grandma isn’t sure about her social activity just yet. She offers her grandmother a kind smile and walks out to meet Marco, who is already outside. It catches him off guard when Eliana speaks some Spanish, and she discusses her family and the fact that she and her grandmother have been together ever since her parents passed away. The mood gets a bit serious, so they silently choose to talk about more cheerful topics.
Marco and Eliana plan to walk to the amusement park. She says her car will arrive the following week. Marco says with a laugh that his “clown car” of a van wouldn’t have given them enough room for everyone. When Eliana brings out her money to pay for herself at the fair, Marco kindly stops her. He explains that his parents gave him extra money because he managed to make a real friend.
That little comment brings to mind everything Eliana has been through. Marco admits that being close to others isn’t simple, as he spends much of his time keeping up with a busy life. Also, the rumors surrounding him do not help him. Eliana feels happy and appreciated by his open and sincere words. She feels her true self is understood. She thinks maybe making new and genuine friends is not that impossible. The Dickheads Chapter 8 concludes with Eliana and Marco going to the fair, eager to forget what happened between them before and enjoy their time together.
The Dickheads Chapter 9: Eliana’s Brother
The Dickheads Chapter 9 begins as Marco and Eliana start by having fun in the park, riding rides, laughing and eating a lot of delicious fair food. After they sit down to eat, Eliana shares that it’s been a long while since she’s been to a place like this. While smiling sadly, she tells him how her mom faced medical complications when she was pregnant, and she never met her little brother. It’s obvious the pain over their loss is still felt as she admits how much she misses her family.
When it all gets too real and genuine, the chaos hits—quite literally. Several little kids rush over and begin teasing Marco for making a friend. That’s right, his whole group is made up of his energetic and naturally inquisitive siblings. Even though he tries to look cool, Marco struggles to be the older brother around her. Seeing his siblings together, Eliana can’t help but think how nice it would’ve been for her to have siblings.
Things get a little less tough for Marco when he notices his parents in the crowd. He holds up his hand and looks at them with a smile. As he turns around, he is shocked to see Eliana not at the table. No note. No text. Just an empty table left behind, and questions starting to fill Marco’s eyes. The Dickheads Chapter 9 ends with Marco wondering where Eliana disappeared.
The Dickheads Chapter 10: Eliana Meets Marco’s Family
In the beginning of The Dickheads Chapter 10, Eliana quickly runs from the table, trying to stop herself from crying too much. After a while, she texts Marco to let him know she is at the last cart. There were no questions or judgments; only true concern from Eliana’s new friend. He realizes it was probably too much for her, because of his loud family and her loss, so he offers a gentle apology. Eliana apologizes for worrying his family. She vents about how she often feels clueless and doesn’t know what to do. He advises that maybe she should start talking to her grandmother more. She nods and says maybe she just wanted some space. Marco gives her a side hug, “Just warn me next time, okay…”
After their ride ends, Marco’s family greets Eliana. Although Eliana apologizes and tries to shun her emotions by saying she was being dramatic, Marco’s mother comforts her, “Mija, there are people in the world that is here for you. It may take some time to find them. But look! You found us.”
Marco’s brother Manuel interrupts the moment, whining about how Marco never rides with him because he is scared. However, now that he has a friend, suddenly he is going on rides, unfair. The family tries to stop him from crying, but to no avail. The Dickheads Chapter 10 ends with Eliana pulling Manuel’s cheeks, “Hey, I can go on rides with you!”
