In the Singles’ Royale, a dating competition conducted amongst three women (the first to fulfil all the relationship criteria wins a hefty sum of five hundred million won!), things start to get real messy. Previously in Singles’ Royale, Daeseong, Chayeul’s childhood best friend, finally realizes his feelings towards her. Despite the fact that Chayeul had a boyfriend- a man that he’d introduced to her himself- he’d been unable to stop thinking about her. Will Daeseong take a brave step towards confessing his feelings, or will he continue to cower away? Let’s see what unfolds in Singles’ Royale Chapter 22!
Singles’ Royale Chapter 22: Coaching the Coach

Singles’ Royale Chapter 22 begins as Daeseong- out of an impulsive curiosity- asks his student how he’d won over his best friend after her breakup with someone else. Although Daeseong snaps back to his senses and brushes the question away, the student ends up explaining it anyway: he’d waited until after she’d broken up with her boyfriend, and then he’d confessed his feelings.
Daeseong inquires, “Weren’t you afraid? If she had turned you down, you might’ve lost that friendship too.” The student honestly explains that he obviously had been terrified of rejection; any sane person would be. However, he’d wisely realized that he’d rather confess his feelings than watch her with someone else again. “If you’re a real man, you should go for it!” he says, fist bumping his coach with an encouraging and determined look in his eyes.
Later, Daeseong texts Chayeul to ask if she was free that night– and hesitates before sending it. Should he be taking relationship advice from a teenager?
Dowon’s Girlfriend

Jurim gathers with her colleagues at the buffet of an art function. Her friend gossips in a low tone that the mysterious artist, Dowon, was rumoured to be ‘incredibly handsome’. Blushing, Jurim asserts that he was definitely the definition of handsome. Thinking of the night he’d saved her, she resolves to deduce if the elusive artist had genuine interest in her, or if he was just a caring man.
When Dowon arrives- looking handsome as ever in a denim shirt- he teasingly calls Jurim ‘babe’ as he passes by in the hall. Later, Dowon, the center of attention, converses with a small group of immersed elites. Jurim and her colleagues watch from the sidelines, wondering what had made the once-mysterious artist make his identity public. The reason couldn’t have been money… so what was it?
Jurim watches Dowon bask in his spotlight with a pit in her stomach. Why had she ever thought someone like him would be interested in her? She resolves to ask her friend to introduce her to someone new, just as someone asks Dowon about his catastrophic blind date. The woman had been the gallery director’s daughter. Now they could only hope he wouldn’t pull his funding from the gallery over the fiasco. Overhearing the conversation, Jurim noticeably spits her wine out, making Dowon grin.
Asked about his girlfriend, Dowon smiles at his eager audience and glances at Jurim. Chapter 22 concludes as Jurim flinches with the sudden attention from all of Dowon’s acquaintances.
What Happened So Far?
Previously in Singles’ Royale, Jurim goes on an impromptu date with a man in a bar (definitely a good idea) and ends up walking home with him. When she refuses to let him spend the night, he begins to derogate her and her ‘dump’ of a home. Before he can physically hurt her, Dowon- and his three valiant puppies- appear behind him. The adorable dogs put on their mean faces, chasing the man away with vicious barks, while Dowon checks up on Jurim.
When he offers to escort her home, Jurim- still reeling from embarrassment- lies about her real home and dashes away before he can say anything. That night, Jurim lies in misery and decides to drop out of the Singles’ Royale. However, when Dowon unexpectedly calls her late at night out of concern, she begins to wonder if he might like her. Reinvigorated with a glimmer of new hope, Jurim re-enters the competition with new purpose.
Meanwhile, Chayeul’s relationship with Sanggyu begins to blossom into something more serious than ‘just dating’. Sanggyu quickly earns boyfriend status and even tells Chayeul that he loves her. There’s just one little problem. There was no spark. Chayeul couldn’t feel that irresistible pull of initial infatuation; she couldn’t feel anything at all. She tries to convince herself that, in the long run, stability mattered more than attraction… but something in the puzzle just didn’t fit right.
