Welcome to the Singles’ Royale: a fierce competition between three single women who try to change the course of their woeful love lives. Between the failed dates, complicated relationships, and messy emotions, there’s only one question worth asking, is it all worth five hundred million won? (Answer: um, yeah!) Previously in Singles’ Royale, a man that Jurim meets at a restaurant offers to walk her back home, and tries to force her into letting him stay at her apartment. At the same time, Seona chats with the man’s handsome friend. Nothing will go wrong… right? Let’s find out in Singles’ Royale Chapter 16-19!
Singles’ Royale Chapter 16: Throwing in the Towel

Singles’ Royale Chapter 16 begins as Dowon’s three gallant puppies viciously attack the man with Jurim (they’re not just pretty faces!) and chase him away. Dowon kneels to appreciate his dogs and then asks if Jurim is fine. Trembling, she sinks to her knees, and he moves to gently pat her back while she cries.
Later, she explains the situation to Dowon, cringing at her own words. What must he think of her? When Dowon offers to walk her home, Jurim remembers the man’s ‘dump’ comment about her apartment. She hastily points towards a luxury building and sprints away, leaving the confused man behind. “But I… live there too,” Dowon says, trailing off as she fades into the distance.
Outside the prestige building, Jurim regains her breath and then stops to admire the apartment. Out of curiosity, she looks up the rent… and nearly faints at the sum. Even the five hundred million won from their bet wouldn’t cover that amount. What was the point of the competition anyway? She’d never be able to afford an apartment. There was no point in wasting her time by dating terrible men. That night, she ignores Seona’s calls and simply texts: ‘I’m dropping out of the bet.’ Her phone vibrates again, and, through her tears, Jurim realizes that Dowon was calling her, concluding Singles’ Royale Chapter 16.
Singles’ Royale Chapter 17: On Second Thought

Singles’ Royale Chapter 17 begins as Jurim picks up Dowon’s call in a panic. Why would he be calling her at this hour… was he worried? Sure enough, Dowon asks Jurim if she’d reached home safely. However, she barely gets the words out before he cuts the call again. She stares at her phone for a minute and then starts to wonder if he likes her.
Jurim quickly brushes the unbidden thought away; it makes no sense anyway. Dowon had no reason to like her. She reminds herself that he was probably just being nice. Plus, she’d already dropped out of the bet.. what was the point in thinking about it now? But just as quickly as hopelessness had taken hold of Jurim, a silver lining appeared in the clouds. Maybe he did like her. She had to take that chance, right? Jurim immediately sends a second text message, informing the others that she was just kidding about dropping out.
Hyeonbin Delivers the Punchline
Meanwhile, Seona continues to spend time with the waiter they’d met. When he tries to hold her hand, she excuses herself to the washroom to gain her bearings. While walking back, she accidentally bumps into none other than Hyeonbin. He explains that he was here with his club members and Seona quickly says, “I’m here with a friend too…”
Hyeonbin returns to his table and notices the man sitting with Seona. ‘He could just be a friend,” he convinces himself, before sitting down. His friends talk about the ‘smoking hot’ woman and the ‘total creep’ that she was with, while Hyeonbin quietly sits in thought. They ask him if he is going to warn Seona, but he dismisses them and continues to drink in silence.
Later, Hyeonbin comes across the waiter outside. On the phone, he talks to his friend and teases him for not ‘scoring with that Jurim chick’. He starts to explain how ‘older chicks were a piece of cake’ and that his motto was ‘just hit it and quit it’. Hyeonbin approaches him and abruptly throws a punch, concluding Singles’ Royale Chapter 17.

Singles’ Royale Chapter 18: “I Really Like You, Ms. Kang”

Singles’ Royale Chapter 18 begins as Seona hears shouts of an intense fight happening outside the restaurant. She walks outside to see Hyeonbin raining blows on the waiter she’d come with. Seona drags Hyeonbin off the injured man and demands an explanation. But Hyeonbin refuses to talk, and the situation escalates when the waiter calls the police to report the assault.
Seona watches him talk to the uniformed men wondering what had gotten into the normally sweet boy. Fortunately, Hyeonbin’s friend approaches her and explains the whole situation. Moments later, while he plays victim to the police, Seona stalks towards her date and thwacks him with her purse. ‘Do I look like someone you can push around?!’ she yells, blurting out more obscenities as she hits him. As the officers ask Seona to calm down, Hyeonbin watches the spectacle with a smile dancing on his face.
Later, Hyeonbin and Seona sit on a bench together with ointments to heal their bruises. Seona applies some of the cream on his pink cheeks, while he looks away from her. Taking a chance, Hyeonbin asks how she’d ended up on a date with that horrid man. He asks her if it is related to her bet, and tries his luck once again by saying, “I really like you, Ms. Kang.” Hyeonbin explains how he was completely fine with passing all the tests of the Singles’ Royale- including (and especially) the kiss- concluding Singles’ Royale Chapter 18.
Singles’ Royale Chapter 19: Seona Puts Her Mind Up for Rent

Singles’ Royale Chapter 19 begins as Hyunbin boldly asks Seona if they should kiss. In the flickering light of the park lamp, Seona looks into his eyes and stays still for a moment. But a second later, the moment shatters, and she looks down and apologizes, “You’re still just a former student.” Hyunbin looks at her, slightly downcast, while she nervously gulps. Could he tell that she was lying?
The day Hyunbin had been extremely nonchalant about her rejection over text, Seona had dismissed him in front of her friends. She’d specifically told Jurim that she had no feelings for her old student. But that night, she couldn’t sleep. She’d been unable to stop thinking about him. When her phone buzzed in the dark, Seona had rapidly picked it up. But when Jurim’s name flashed on the notification, she’d disappointedly put it back down. It wasn’t him.
Even during work the next day, Seona found herself admiring Hyunbin’s social media profile picture. She still couldn’t get his earnest smile out of her mind. Every memory of him brought an uncontrollable grin to her face. While working, meditating, and even sitting on her bed with a face mask, she constantly thought about him. The stubborn man had permanently booked a room in her mind and was refusing to leave.
The night Hyunbin had gotten into a fight for her sake, Seona had known for sure. ‘I’m definitely starting to fall for him,’ she thought while attending to the bruise on his cheek. However, she knew better than to date her former student.

Pinky Promise of Three Dates
In the present, an old memory resurfaces, causing her to hesitate even further. Sitting on the park bench, Hyunbin snaps Seona back to her senses and compromises to take her out for just three dates. If she still thought of him as her student after that, he’d give up. After a brief moment, Seona surprisingly agrees. They seal the deal with a classic pinky promise (you can’t go back on your words now, it’s written in the contract!)
Meanwhile, on a date, Chayeul sits side-by-side with Sanggyu. Blushing, he reaches over to clasp her hand within his, making her cheeks redden too. Singles’ Royale Chapter 19 ends with a sneak peek of the story yet to come, where Chayeul finally kisses her man. But wait, that’s not Sanggyu… is that Daeseong?!
