The Remarried Empress Chapter 25-32 introduces the readers to a cunning Duke Ergi artfully manipulating a naive Rashta. Her insecurities instigate Rashta to adopt dirty means to grab the strings of high society. Meanwhile, Ergi tries to strike up an impression on Navier, leaving her more wary of the foreigners’ presence. Rashta stirs up trouble in the ball by imitating Navier and blaming the Empress. The Remarried Empress Chapter 33: A Bad News of Sorts

The Remarried Empress Chapter 33 shows Navier learning about Rashta’s stabbing. Her ladies-in-waiting inform her that Viscount Landre, an ardent admirer of Duchess Tuania, attacked Rashta. Duke Ergi came rushing and pulled the offender off Rashta. The Empress inquires about her health, and the scene shifts to an unconscious Rashta, flanked by the Emperor and a doctor. Duke Ergi enters to see his friend and is mildly surprised when Sovieshu doesn’t object to his attendance in her chamber.

The doctor examining Rashta jumps up and announces that the mistress is with a child. Sovieshu takes the congratulations with slight shock. He visits the Empress later and intimates the news to her. Navier quietly makes her disinterest and displeasure clear even though Sovieshu says that his first child is illegitimate. She is upset by the news but finds Queen, frozen in shock, in her window. Being her comfort space and loyal friend, he rushes, his wings spread wide to hug her.

Heinrey later visits her as himself, offering comfort, but is flustered when she agrees to hug him. His human body is not accustomed to her warm touches, unlike Queen’s. They chat together, and an easy and comfortable conversation flows between them. The Remarried Empress Chapter 33 ends with Duchess Tuania desperately begging Navier to save the arrested Viscount Landre.

The Remarried Empress Chapter 34: Dealing with a Prisoner

In The Remarried Empress Chapter 34, Duchess Tuania pleads with Navier to save Viscount Landre’s life. Navier knows it will become a hard job but agrees to do it anyway. The Duchess is extremely grateful for her benevolence and vows to return the favor someday.

Navier visits Viscount Landre, the poor man beaten up during his interrogation session with Sovieshu. She informs him that Rashta is pregnant and he shall be executed under Sovieshu’s orders. She also stresses she can grant him her right to the Imperial pardon and reduce his death sentence to just banishment and asks him to reveal every bit of investigation to her. Landre explains how he discovered the rumors that Lotteshu spread amongst villagers under Rashta’s order. He reveals his investigations were safe in his drawers.

Navier reads a report about Rashta giving away the ruby ring to Lotteshu. She visits the Emperor and requests him to reduce Landre’s sentence to banishment. In response, he disagrees and asks her to stay out of this matter. She commits that if he wants to handle Landre’s punishment according to the law, she shall handle Rashta according to the law as well.

Chapter 35: Farewell to a Friend

The Remarried Empress Chapter 35 opens with Navier threatening to punish Rashta for circulating false rumors about Duchess Tuania and tarnishing her honor in high society. Sovieshu is furious at her declaration, but he composes himself. He asks for Landre’s investigation on Rashta, but Navier refuses to hand them over until he retracts the sentence. He reluctantly grants her wish and stores the papers.

Meanwhile, Queen delivers a farewell letter to Navier. Heinrey writes that his frail older brother is sicker, and he will return before it turns for the worst. She is saddened at his notice when she is interrupted by the man from the letter himself. He invites her for a walk and talks about the revenge plan that he had elucidated in his letter. He queries if she has given a thought to finding a lover for herself. Navier jokes around before they reach the point where they might exchange their final goodbyes.

The scene shifts to Sovieshu and Rashta discussing their baby. But Rashta is preoccupied with the worry that Duke Ergi brought her from Rimwell. The baby that Lotteshu uses to blackmail Rashta might as well be hers.

The Remarried Empress Chapter 36: Mishappening of A Potion

In The Remarried Empress Chapter 36, Rashta anxiously listens to Ergi’s report. After signing his cheque for ten thousand kranz to meet Lotteshu’s expenses, he catches her off guard, asking if she is curious about the child’s gender. The scene shifts to Navier, with her chamberers updating her on the latest news about the elite society. They tell her about Sovieshu treating Rahsta like a treasure after she woke up and Duke and Duchess Tuania’s divorce. She also learns that Lotteshu is trying to find a mansion and nanny in the capital.

Navier suddenly finds the love potion she received as a birthday present from an unknown well-wisher. Her maids encourage her to use it on the Emperor, but she doesn’t entertain the idea. The next day, she seeks out Grand Duke Kaufman after their trade-related meeting to learn more about the potion. He says it shall not create love but rather affect the physical characteristics of a person. He also mentions using it on the Emperor, but when Navier refuses, he drinks it himself.

Sovieshu enters the room and is immediately suspicious of a fidgeting Navier and Kaufman, who has his back on him. He forces Navier to turn his way and addresses the infidelity, but Kaufman’s tears shock both the Royals.

Chapter 37: Real Competition for Navier

The Remarried Empress Chapter 37 begins with Kaufman admitting that the potion has indeed induced affection in him for Navier. He apologizes for intervening between her and Sovieshu, blaming it on the potion. He urges her to leave the room so he can sober in her absence. The next day, Kaufman seeks her audience dressed elegantly. He says his magical antidote wasn’t any match to the potent potion and admits he sent the present to improve her situation with Sovieshu. His other violent attraction episode adjourns their tea time.

Navier and Sovieshu tend to the polity of the empire when Sovieshu questions when she is going to end her rendezvous with Kaufman, at which she dashes away. Heinrey finds her outside, and they walk together, talking about his brother’s deteriorating health. Navier is glum, knowing he will have to depart soon to attend to his brother’s last wishes. Kaufman intercepts their walk, pushing Heinrey away out of sheer envy.

The Remarried Empress Chapter 38: One Empress, Three Men

In The Remarried Empress Chapter 38, the readers come across a face-off between Heinrey and Kaufman, both unrelenting in their opposition towards each other and harboring jealousy over Navier’s attention. She tries to break them apart, only managing when Mckenna, Heinrey’s aide, runs up to him and urgently requests his attention. Navier takes the opportunity and asks him to attend to his business, and Heinrey bids her with a peck on her hand. Later, Kaufman apologizes for his unbecoming behavior.

The pair are approached by Sovieshu, who once again reminds Navier to stop playing with two men at a time when a baby is being nurtured in Rashta’s womb. Meanwhile, Heinrey is back in his guest chambers, pondering Navier’s relationship with all the men around her. He reads the letter that is waiting for him and is devastated to read that his brother Walton III is critically ill and the Western Palace urges his immediate return.

Chapter 39: Lover, Cheater, And Third Angle

The Remarried Empress Chapter 39 opens with Mckenna consoling Heinrey to his ability, preparing the diplomatic process for his departure. Heinrey is upset that he cannot meet Navier anymore. Meanwhile, the physical confrontation between the Emperor and Kaufman is broken, and guards surround the Grand Duke. Navier tries to hold peace, but the Emperor taunts Kaufman and threatens to dissolve their trade agreements before leaving with his soldiers. 

Navier is confused and alarmed at how the incident escalated. Her maids encourage her to be loved by Kaufman. Queen visits her at night to bid his final goodbye.

The next morning, she approaches Sovieshu to persuade him to rethink the trade relationship with Luit. She tries to stress the benefits of their business relationship and agendas, but he bends her intentions. He queries if she has the improvement of the Empire in mind or if she has her own love life. She builds a strict boundary at this, imposing he has no right to dissuade from wanting a lover when he has brought Rashta for himself. Sovieshu angrily slashes that Rashta is a mistress, but Navier is the Empress. The Remarried Empress Chapter 39 closes on a downtrodden Rashta, eavesdropping on the Royals.

The Remarried Empress Chapter 40: Distance

The Remarried Empress Chapter 40 reveals a merry Rashta chancing upon Navier and Sovieshu’s quarrel. Their subject distresses her so much that she runs off to ask Viscountess Verdi if a former Emperor had ever loved his mistress until the end. Verdi’s ignorance on the matter distresses her further, and her suggestion to use her kid as a pawn agitates her senselessness. Later, Lotteshu ambles in, demanding more money for his move into the capital and nursing her son.

Navier makes her way down the South Palace when she notices Rashta meeting up with Ergi. Ergi and Navier make eye contact but nothing more. She coincidently meets Heinrey, who seems to have been looking for her. They once again walk together, but this time, it is the last one before Heinrey departs. They agree to continue exchanging letters. He later informs Sovieshu of his return, and the latter happily bids him a safe journey back. On his way back, he stops by Ergi’s room for a quick word.

Later in the evening, Navier hears that Duchess Tuania has failed her divorce trial and is leaving the capital with Landre. In her letter to Navier, she earnestly thanks Navier for helping her and promises her assistance if she ever needs it in the future. The Empress is melancholic, having lost all her close companions overnight.

Reader’s Thoughtful Conclusion

In The Remarried Empress Chapter 33-40, Navier gradually realizes just how much Heinrey has imprinted his presence in her tumultuous life. He is the companion who could quip around in grave situations. She also realizes just how hypocritical Sovieshu is. He brings a woman in rags and calls him her mistress but interferes vehemently when she so much as shakes hands with the diplomatic delegates. Navier gains another admirer in Kaufman; whether it is truly the love potion’s effect or something else remains a mystery. By the end of The Remarried Empress Chapter 40, Navier realizes how much the friends she lost in a single night mean to her, and her surroundings feel a little more desolate than usual upon her realization.
