We left off Marionetta previously through Julia’s mental breakdown and her coping mechanism of blindly trusting authority. Kamille is struggling with her emotions for Rainah. And Sahed, our fine man, carved deliciously by the artist himself, realizes he has a crush on Julia. And Kamille, to save her friend, decides to take matters into her own hands, and Dotty is scary and can be a real jerk to protect her dream, the circus. So let’s discuss what happens next in Marionetta Chapter 57-64.
Marionetta Chapter 57: Julia Tries To Fix A Broken Heart
Marionetta Chapter 57 starts with Tonny looking at the hard-working Julia and Kamille and asking the girls to go outside and have some fun. Julia is busy carving, and Kamille is busy designing costumes. And they both refuse. Julia even says Tonny needs to go out himself because he is very pale. Tonny said, embarrassed, that he is just hard to tan. Then he steel himself and gives the slightest of the slight touches to Julia’s hand and very nervously asks Julia to accompany him to the beachside. Julia smilingly agrees with his weird behaviour.
Julia stands up to pull Kamiile with her, however, she sees Rainah in beautiful costumes. She decides to repair the damage she had done and mend her broken heart, She rushes to find Rainah. Rainah spends 90 percent of the time in her room. But when she knocks on the door, Sahed opens it as she fears. Sahed opens the door and tries to act cool, asking what brought her there. Julia sis she came to meet Rainah, that pissed our Sahed.
Rainah happily welcomes her in. Rainah is happy to have some girl time and a break from grumpy Sahed. Julia says the place is nice, to go for a swim in the lake, and Rainah tells she knows and that Kamille already declared her love. Julia asks why Rainah is ignoring Kamille. Is it because she doesn’t like girls?
Julia’s Fragile Mental State
Rainah refuses that, Rainah says Kamille joined the circus for her. She threw away her life for a person she doesn’t even know. And that put an unwanted weight on Rainah. Julia asks Rainah to give Kamille a chance, but Rainah refuses another person to depend on her for their happiness. Then she asks Julia to leave. While Julia is leaving, Sahed asks her not to say goodbye because he heard Julia doesn’t want to participate in saving the Ah’kon. Sahed says he doesn’t get Julia. Julia runs, and we see a glimpse of her fragile mental state, where she imagines the judge’s mental stare at various people and thinks they do not look at her that way.
Chapter 58: How Friends Are Formed
Marionetta Chapter 58 starts with Kamille finding Julia sobbing on her bed. Julia says to Kamille she doesn’t know what to do or whom to trust. However, at first she trusted Sahed, not Tonny, and knew they were working together, and she saw how the colonel shot Jathar and then dragged him away in a half-dead situation, and she knew Ah’kons were being tortured. Julia doesn’t know what to do. Kamille asks her to join the fight, then the contract will keep them safe. Julia says she doesn’t know what her father might say if he hears Julia is trying to destroy the research center.
Kamille then tells Julia why they became friends. Julia says Kamilled asked her for help colouring inside the lines. But Kamille says it’s not just that. Julia always seemed to uphold justice and stick to her morals no matter what others said or did. That’s why the other children did not like her very much. Kamille saw it and noticed and wanted Julia as her friend. So when others were cursing at Julia and avoiding her, Kamille came and grabbed her hand.
Marionetta Chapter 59: A Glimpse Of Friendship
Marionetta Chapter 59 continues to show us how Julia and Kamille went out to explore the forest and the caves, and then met with a fugitive Ah’kon. Who made them get swept away with the waves and get lost? The Military found them and arrested Ah’kon again. Julia came home to find her father very worried and so lonely, and that night, when Julia developed a fever, she promised herself she would never let her father go through with it again. She will never let anyone worry about her that much again.
After that, she turned serious and started doing household chores. Julia stopped going on adventures with Kamille, saying they have to be responsible. Kamille even said how she felt alone and abandoned as Julia became more responsible, refusing to do anything fun together.
Kamille said that Julia took their middle school way too seriously. Instead of getting a good career, she wanted to get married and be a good housewife. Kamille felt like Julia had abandoned her; that’s why she didn’t tell Julia when she joined the circus, because she felt Julia wouldn’t understand. That Julia won’t approve.
But the duty and responsibility are a part of Julia. Kamille says now that Julia has no reason to reject her for having fun and going on adventures, they should now.
Marionetta Chapter 60: Julia Makes Up Her Mind
Marionetta Chapter 60 begins with Julia and Kamille having come to the riverside, and Kamille jumping in. Julia refuses to take a swim and walks up to a secluded part. There, she contemplates her actions and the actions of the government. She sees that Sahed and Rainah are not present and she realises it’s because they have treated them badly. But closing their eyes to their truth and suffering. She was scared of the Ah’kon she met in the forest however, that person was more scared. She was frightened of being found out by her father. Did her father know what he was doing? Julia feels sick and feels she can’t ignore this anymore.
Chapter 61: Julia Goes To Find Sahed
Marionetta Chapter 61Â begins with Sahed lazing in his bed and Julia bursting in, telling him he was there. That she was searching for him. And that he wasn’t there in his room or the dining room.
She asks Sahed to follow her. Sahed refuses, but Julia pulls him anyway. And she led him and others to the sculpture of the Ah’ko, asking Sahed what it was. Sahed says he doesn’t know, but when Julia keeps talking, he bursts out and tells her to ask Tonny, he is the oldest of them anyway. And when he tries to leave, Julia stops him. He is angered by this and tells her, if he weren’t stuck in this circus with cowards, he would be raising an army to burn the kingdom to the ground. That’s how much he hates it. He is tired of these cowards who can’t die and are still afraid.
He thought Julia wasn’t like that, as long as she saw the truth, she would help too, but it seems Julia was like the rest as well. Then Julia asks if he wants to help him. A lot of other people say they want to help, too. Dotty seems uninterested and pissed though, ending Marionetta Chapter 61.
Marionetta Chapter 62: The Bonfire Party
Marionetta Chapter 62 starts with Sahed having brought Rainah to the place with the sculpture, asking her what it is. Rainah says she does not know. Sahed says, but it might mean only one thing: that they were worshipped before and had a glorious past. That they can return to that past again. However, Rainah said that time didn’t end well with them. That she lived in a world similar to this when she was a child, but it wasn’t good. Then Sahed tells them they are having a bonfire party to get more people to join their cause. Rainah asks Sahed if he will join. Sahed tells yes, he will for a bit.
At the party, Sahed and Julia see each other. Sahed calls Julia cute and flirts with her. Then Tonny comes, and they toast to second chances, ending Marionetta Chapter 62.
Chapter 63: Julia Gets Drunk
Marionetta Chapter 63 starts with Julia getting drunk and asking for Kamille, and telling her she is happy they made up. That she loves her. Kamille asks how much she drank, and Tonny replies she only drank one glass. Kamilles says this was her first time drinking. Kamille says she will take care of cute and funny drunk Julia. Julia says she had been too focused on surviving, and now that Tonny is taking care of it, she will focus on saving the world and learning everyone’s names.
Dotty seems to want to make everyone sick. Julia says Dotty is evil, and she runs away with a very strong alcohol and bumps into Sahed. Sahed asked her to watch out and where she was. Julia, in a drunken voice, replies that she was looking for him. Sahed gets a bit embarrassed, and Julia says she wants to dance with him. They dance, then he dances with others.
And we see on the other end Rainah talking to Tonny, and Tonny saying he is happy they are happy again. Rainah says she just wants the person she chose to be happy before she leaves. She does not forgive Tonny for killing her. However, she is glad Tonny won’t hesitate to kill Rainah when she asks him to, ending Marionetta Chapter 63.
Marionetta Chapter 64: Tonny Hiding Something
When Julia lies down by a place near the fire, Kamille goes to get her some water. Julia tells Sahed, who was watching over him, that although they are not friends, she likes them too. She tells Sahed she wants to know about him, about his story and trauma. Sahed tells her he will tell her while holding her hand, if she comes to his room the next day. Tonny pulls him away, telling him that he does not trust him because Sahed tried to kill him.
Sahed replies, Julia didn’t know the contract was being forced on Tonny. He said he didn’t want to kill Tonny, but Tonny said that’s what he tried to do. Sahed says he knows Tonny is hiding something, as all the spirits who die here are not natural and they are not dead, that they are still around, and he can see it through his third eye. He said to Tonny not to worry, only he and Rainah know this, as now they have a deal, and Sahed won’t try to mess it up, ending Marionetta Chapter 64.
