We have a new and interesting chapter of Love Bites webtoon this week. Imagine the Twilight series, Jacob falling for Edward instead of Bella. Well, we know it’s difficult to create that imagination since we already know the ending. The story has shown that Mason and Kieran have already locked lips, but neither knew at the time who the other truly was. Now, the story has reached the point where they are familiar with their real selves. So, they should hate each other now, right? Well, Kieran is trying his best in Love Bites Chapter 13.
Love Bites Chapter 13: Mason Apologizes | Kieran Warns
Love Bites Chapter 13 begins with Kieran flinching, having Mason so close to him. Worried, he asks, “Why do you smell so freaked out?” Almost growling, Kieran warns, “Don’t smell me. What do you want?” (As if kissing his best friend’s crush was not enough for Kieran, now fate adds one more cherry on the cake: Mason is a werewolf!) Raising both hands to showcase that he means no harm, Mason apologizes for what happened between them in the locker room, hinting at their very steamy kiss. Not falling for his apology and shy behavior, Kieran sternly says he doesn’t care about all that; his primary concern is Cella. Mason immediately tries to clear the mess, “What I said about Cella was wrong. I do like her genuinely.” (Even a fool won’t fall for that silly statement, Mason.)
On the other hand, Kieran wonders why he feels upset to know Mason likes Cella. Like a quintessential best friend, he warns Mason, “If you ever hurt her, I’ll borrow some silver weapons from my brother.” Clueless, he asks why Kieran is assuming he will hurt Cella. Hitting a serious nerve, Kieran bluntly admits, “You’re a werewolf, violence is in your blood.” Hurting Mason’s feelings a little more, he continues, “Didn’t you mistake our fight for foreplay?” Kieran walks away after giving a serious warning. However, it didn’t feel as good as he thought it would. (We will wait and watch for how long you can carry on this hate towards Mason.)
Kieran’s Frustration | Protective Best Friend
Kieran’s father asks why he ran off. He simply replies that he needed some space. Upon asking if he knows Mason, he admits they go to school together. With an angry look, he says he was just being annoying, “I handled it.” Cedric, with a proud smile, keeps his arm on his brother’s shoulder, “Good. I knew you had it in you.”
Back at the palace, Kieran is wide awake, hoping things will be easier for both vampires and werewolves after the trade. As he begins to think about Mason, we learn about his childhood fear. A childhood flashback from 10 years ago shows he is afraid of his MOM? (Was his mother a werewolf? Does the fear go beyond Luka and Rhys?)
Initially, when Kieran saw Mason, he knew this was his new foe, but when they touched each other, he didn’t feel any fear. And that’s what he is afraid of, the sense of desire he feels towards Mason, a werewolf. He knows he SHOULD hate Mason, but even tonight, the way he looked at him, Kieran felt safe. This sense of safety from his ‘supposed enemy’ is confusing him.
A message from Cella interrupts his thoughts. She wants to talk about yesterday, although she is mad at him, she is also worried about her best friend. Thinking about how he has protected her since childhood, Kieran gets the urge to let her know about Mason’s identity. However, this would mean going against the pact. Love Bites Chapter 13 ends with Kieran typing, “Mason is a werewolf.”
