Love Bites is a slow-burn supernatural romance that takes broody teenage angst and adds a deadly twist—fangs and fur. The story follows Kieran, a young vampire trying to lay low and live a relatively “normal” life among humans. Haunted by family secrets and bound by an ancient peace pact, Kieran prefers to avoid drama… until Mason, a charming and enigmatic werewolf, transfers to his school and turns his world upside down.
What starts as suspicion quickly spirals into stolen glances, accidental kisses, and a whole lot of tension neither of them can explain. As the centuries-old truce between vampires and werewolves hangs by a thread, Kieran is forced to face questions about identity, loyalty, and the very nature of desire. With family politics, emotional chaos, and supernatural stakes growing by the chapter, Love Bites proves that sometimes, the heart wants what it probably shouldn’t sink its teeth into.
Love Bites Chapter 12: Pacts and Panic Attacks

Love Bites Chapter 12 kicks off with Kieran and Mason finding themselves in a situation that resembles a vampire-werewolf version of The Hunger Games. They’re both thinking the exact same thing: “What the heck are we doing here?”
Kieran instantly regrets showing up. As soon as he sets foot on the werewolves’ land, painful recollections of losing his mother come flooding back. He’s afraid it might end up in more violence. His heart is pounding like he’s listening to a scary track, and the fact that Mason actually checked on him makes it even worse. Kieran is taken aback not because Mason talked but because he seems genuinely concerned. What’s happening to him?
The Kane Pack and Callisto’s clan extend a friendly greeting, given their long-standing animosity, and declare that the ages-old Pact has been delivered to the meeting. The Pact. This old, spattered, and well-respected document is the only thing that stops the werewolves and vampires from ripping each other apart. Everyone needs to pledge their allegiance to the agreement.
The werewolves go first: They agree to keep their human forms when the moon reaches its peak to demonstrate they can resist turning into ravenous beasts. Classy. Vampires pledge to offer up some blood to show they know how to control their bloodthirst—very metal.
Neither group will allow their kind to mingle, and under no circumstances will they allow their blood to mix. That’s a big no-no on both spiritual and scientific grounds. In the end, Callisto Head and the werewolf Head make the arrangement official by cutting their palm and mixing their blood in a handshake. Again classic!
Triggering Heartbeats

Cedric’s expression sours, making Kieran think he’d tasted a lemony lemon. It’s obvious Cedric would rather knock out a werewolf than pledge to maintain peace. One of the werewolves finally proposes to simply shake hands, finishing the agreement like they would among humans. Cedric narrowly holds back an explosion as he reluctantly clasps the other werewolf’s hand.
Mason smiles at Kieran, and Kieran cautiously extends his hand. The moment their palms meet, BADUM. BADUM. BADUM. Romance novels, here he comes. Kieran quickly pulls his hand away and dashed off with an embarrassed excuse, as if he’d suddenly recalled leaving the stove on.
Storming off, Kieran finds himself overwhelmed and unsettled. The first person he ever kissed (and wanted to kiss) is a werewolf. That goes against vampire society’s rules, and it’s a complete emotional disaster. Not to mention his former best friend, Cella, who’s in need of rescue because of his disastrous emotional state. Then, Mason appears as if he’d been waiting in the wings only to whisper, “Hold on.” Cue the end-of-episode cliffhanger music. Love Bites Chapter 12 ends with Kieran standing still, pulse racing, as Mason draws near, once again making it impossible to tell friend from foe.
