What starts as disdain quickly twists into obsession, confusion, and forbidden attraction. As Kieran and Mason clash over everything from football practice to friendships, sparks fly—sometimes violently, sometimes passionately. A stolen kiss in Chapter 8 turns their tense rivalry into something deeper, and in Love Bites Chapter 9, Kieran spirals, torn between guilt, desire, and the fear of losing his best friend, Cella. In Love Bites Chapter 10, things take a darker turn. Kieran’s family prepares for a fragile peace meeting with the werewolves, but his older brother Cedric tempts him toward embracing his full vampire power—and giving up his human ties. With his world unraveling, Kieran is forced to choose between who he’s told to be and who he’s becoming.
Love Bites Chapter 10: The Nightwalker’s Choice

Love Bites Chapter 10 begins with Kieran standing in stunned silence as his father suddenly appears at the front door. His first panicked thought? Oh no—did he somehow find out about the kiss? Can he read minds now? Thankfully, Kieran quickly realizes the family mind-reading gene isn’t a thing (yet) and instead scrambles to explain why he’s home so late. His dad, completely ignoring Kieran’s inner crisis, drops a bombshell: there’s going to be a diplomatic meeting with the werewolves—*yes, those werewolves—*tomorrow night. Apparently, they’re the new neighbors, and it’s time to bury centuries of blood-stained hatchets.
Kieran’s older brother, Cedric, is predictably dramatic and furious. He warns that this “peace offering” will only make them look weak. But their dad insists that unity is strength, and he wants Kieran to attend too. Guilt hits hard—Kieran notices the disappointment in his father’s eyes and wonders if he’s failing at vampire son duties.
Later, while Kieran sulks and processes, Cedric struts in with a casual snack: a bag of animal blood. He eyes Kieran suspiciously, sensing something is off. Kieran brings up the unthinkable—what if he doesn’t even want to drink blood? What if he just wants a sandwich or, heaven forbid, popcorn? Cedric is appalled. “We’re not human, Kieran. You better not forget that.”
Between Blood and Brotherhood
Then Cedric drops his bomb: once Kieran undergoes “the trade” and becomes a Nightwalker like him, life will be so much easier. Power, respect, fear—no more heartbreak or sunburns. Kieran’s hesitant, though. The trade comes at a steep cost: the sun, his humanity, maybe even the last shred of his old friendships. Cedric brushes it off. “Who even are your friends now?”
Cedric then sweetens the deal (or terrifies it further) by describing their combined powers: Cedric’s shapeshifting and Kieran’s forbidden “charmspeak” (which Dad strictly banned) could take down any werewolf threat. Kieran’s face says it all: yikes. But Cedric presses on, convincing him that their dad is too idealistic and someone has to be prepared for war.
Kieran tries to pull his brother back to reason, making Cedric promise not to attack first and to give peace a chance. Cedric reluctantly agrees if Kieran attends the meeting. Kieran finally relents. He remembers the last brutal werewolf attack, the fear, the helplessness—and he knows Cedric’s right about one thing. He can’t be the weak, uncertain kid anymore. Love Bites Chapter 10 ends with Kieran bracing himself for the future, agreeing to attend the meeting and face the uncertain storm that lies ahead.
What Happened So Far?

In Love Bites, we meet Kieran, a brooding young vampire trying his best to blend in and live a low-key life. He’s got his routine, his secrets, and his childhood best friend Cella to keep him grounded. But his carefully curated world starts to crack the moment Mason, a confident, charming, and undeniably mysterious new student, walks into his school. There’s something about Mason that immediately gets under Kieran’s skin—and not just in the usual werewolf-vampire rivalry kind of way.
Kieran quickly learns that Mason isn’t just a regular guy with a cool haircut—he’s a werewolf. That revelation should’ve been a deal-breaker, but instead, it only intensifies the strange attraction Kieran feels. Despite his instincts, he keeps getting pulled into Mason’s orbit, and sparks fly between them in ways that are confusing, intense, and undeniably electric.
Meanwhile, Mason surprises everyone by asking Cella out, and Kieran isn’t thrilled. He’s protective of her, sure, but it’s more than that. In Chapter 8, Kieran confronts Mason after football practice. The heated argument quickly turns into something much hotter, ending in an unexpected, passionate kiss that neither of them saw coming. Kieran’s heart is racing, his mind is spinning, and Mason seems just as stunned.
Chapter 9 picks up right from that jaw-dropping moment. Rather than shoving Mason away, Kieran finds himself drawing him in even closer. The kiss deepens. Until Kieran accidentally bites Mason and runs off in panic. Things spiral further when Cella runs into Kieran, and he tries to warn her about Mason’s intentions. But Cella misunderstands, accuses Kieran of jealousy, and leaves with tears in her eyes.
