Can he read minds now? Thankfully, Kieran quickly realizes the family mind-reading gene isn’t a thing (yet) and instead scrambles to explain why he’s home so late. His dad, completely ignoring Kieran’s inner crisis, drops a bombshell: there’s going to be a diplomatic meeting with the werewolves—*yes, those werewolves—*tomorrow night. Apparently, they’re the new neighbors, and it’s time to bury centuries of blood-stained hatchets.
Kieran’s older brother, Cedric, is predictably dramatic and furious. He warns that this “peace offering” will only make them look weak. But their dad insists that unity is strength, and he wants Kieran to attend too. Chapter 9 picks up right from that jaw-dropping moment. Rather than shoving Mason away, Kieran finds himself drawing him in even closer. The kiss deepens.
