In Castle Swimmer Season 1 Episode 1 we learn about one of the main protagonists, Kappa or The Beacon, and his purpose in the story. In the 2nd episode, Wendy cleverly introduces Prince Siren in the story providing sufficient information so that the readers can deep dive into the story.
Castle Swimmer Season 1 starts with a prophecy that tells a child born from Golden Orb, how he is the Beacon who will fulfill the prophecies – not a prophecy but prophecies. The world under the ocean has different colonies ruled by Kings and Queens. They all have their prophecy which The Beacon has to fulfill. However, the prophecy of the Shark colony does not demand immortality or riches of the world but the blood of Kappa.
The main story of the Castle Swimmer webtoon begins when the Shark colony captures Kappa, and Prince Siren has to decide whether he can kill him. Siren always felt pressure to do things right, even though he did not believe in violence. Every day, he made many excuses to his mother, the Queen of Sharks, why he could not kill The Beacon, Kappa. Meanwhile, he started bonding with Kappa, and they started getting closer to each other.

Shark’s Curse and Prophecy
A Mini God, Neris, cursed them one hundred years ago when the Shark Queen killed him. Unexpectedly, one day Neris attacked the castle of Sharks, and the shark Queen had to kill him with her spear. As Neris bled out he cursed the Shark Kingdom –
“You will regret killing me, My Blood is a poison that will curse you forever.
Your people will be a target for tragedy and despair, their bodies will become a collection of words and scars.
Until there is nothing left”
– Neris, the mini God, in episode 3
And from that day the doomsday of the Shark colony begins. They keep losing people and their population has dropped from 20 thousand to a few hundred. The elders have documented a prophecy where a prince without scars would kill the Beacon and his blood would end the suffering. In this case, the prince without scars is Prince Siren who is not willing to kill Kappa.
Prince Siren and Kappa Bonding
Prince Siren was taught from childhood that he was the one to free them from the curse. At one point he was very excited to kill The Beacon but soon realized he did not want to use violence to save his people. He was never allowed to go outside so the only world he knows is the shark colony. After meeting with The Beacon he learned that Kappa also does not want to die. Moreover, he realized that he and Kappa share the same feelings about their responsibilities.
Kappa does not want to be the Beacon as people are only kind and nice to him because he will fulfill their prophecies. He wants to live in a small cottage and have a cute family. He feels that he is not good at this fulfilling prophecy thing. Meanwhile, Prince Siren feels like he has failed his people. Many people sacrificed themselves so that Siren could be safe. Because of this, he feels useless and a burden to his people as he does not know how to fight or any skills he can use to protect his people.
By the end of the Castle Swimmer Season 1, their relationship blossoms into a safe space where they feel comfortable in each other’s company. Fans find them cute together and want to see more of their relationship in the next season.
Attack on the Shark Castle
The Shark Castle was concealed and no one knew about it. However, it looks like the location was leaked by someone. In Castle Swimmer Season 1 Episode 12 you will see that the castle was under an attack by 3 strangers. During this attack, many people were injured which made Prince Siren more guilty. In the 5th Episode, we saw that Queen Nee of the Needlenee was able to get the scroll from the Shark Castle which has their location and prophecy.
The people of the castle colonies also got the news that The Beacon is held as a prisoner and he is soon going to die. Queen Nee with the Queen Krilli of the Lopods set out for the Shark Castle to free The Beacon from the hands of Shark people.
Plot Twist of Castle Swimmer Webtoon Season 1
This plot twist took everyone by surprise and no one saw it coming. In episode 34, Prince Siren’s mother and The Queen, Susca, tell him that she changed the prophecy. The one who was meant to die was not The Beacon but Prince Siren. That’s why he does not have any scars on his body. The prophecy was that the Beacon would kill Prince Siren with the help of the spear. Hence, the blood of the Prince Siren will help the Shark colony to break the curse.
How did Susca pull this off? Well, the elders who made this prophecy died long ago and the only living being there to tell the prophecy was Susca. Susca does not want her son to die that’s why she reversed the prophecy. Moreover, she ensured everyone learned her version of history and prophecy by heart.
Castle Swimmer Season 1 Ending
At the end of the Castle Swimmer Season 1 we got to know that one of the elders, Selkie, sent the scroll to the smaller castles so that they could save the Beacon. Susca was always advising and guiding Selkie, so it was no surprise that she was the one who knew about the fake prophecy.
After telling the truth, Susca locked Selkie and Siren in the prison. The Queen of the Sharks would do anything to save his son. She planned to kill the Beacon before the people so no one would doubt her. However, Prince Siren got out of the prison and stopped her. While protecting Kappa his mother’s spear strikes Siren on the back.
Meanwhile, Queen Nee and Queen Krilli took Kappa with them and everyone learned the truth. In Episode 41, Kappa meets Prince Siren for the last time and gives him a pouch as a keepsake. This will keep reminding Siren how he has to fight to break the curse. Kappa promises that they will meet again and they will both keep fighting until they achieve their dream. In the end, Kappa is dragged away because of the connection between him and the next prophecy he has to fulfill.
Castle Swimmer Miniseries
The Castle Swimmer miniseries constitutes 4 extra episodes that show the life of Prince Siren while he is recovering. People came to greet him and were worried about his health. He was surprised to find so much love and care.
Meanwhile, the Elders punished Susca, they were removed from the Queen position. They also punished Selkie for keeping Susca’s secret by removing her from the Elder’s council. Meanwhile, Prince Siren decides to find his father once he has recovered. Siren’s father left the Shark Castle when he was a child. His father was searching for a way to break the curse in a non-violent way.
In Kappa’s life, he tried to reach the upper part of the ocean to talk to the God of the surface. On the way, he met many different types of creatures. In the end, he failed and found himself back on the ground.
