Accidental Assassin Chapter 1: Just Another Normal Day
Accidental Assassin Chapter 1 begins on another day in Ireland: dark, storm clouds densely populate the sky and let loose a torrid downpour of cold rain. Bonnie takes the train to work, staring out at the bleak scenery in a somewhat depressed mood. Between the dreary weather, monotonous work, and exhausting travel hours, there was nothing going on in her life.
In short, she was bored. She knew she should appreciate the comforts of her mundane lifestyle, but a part of her longed for something more. Something exciting. Something that kept her heart pounding, cheeks flushed, and eyes shining. She didn’t want to admit it, but she longed for the thrill of adventure and danger.
Bonnie steps out, in the strawberry earrings and bright clothing she wore to pierce through the heavy drabness of her life, and walks towards her office. The towering grey skyscraper of Fintech Solutions looms in front of her. The building, gloomily standing out like a beacon for darkness, perfectly juxtaposes saturation in Bonnie’s bright orange hair. Before walking inside, she cheerfully greets the polite security guard, Glen.
While growing up, Bonnie had been raised by her father. But unlike the other children, she wasn’t taught to play board games or play make-believe. Instead, she was taught how to shoot, how to identify edible food, and how to survive. Her childhood wasn’t normal, and she paid the price for it. Even at work, the other women were hesitant to befriend her. Bonnie’s sole companion was her blonde-haired boss, Wesley.
The Man in Black
On this unexceptional day of thunder and rain, Wesley approaches Bonnie. He asks her if she is free- she instantly lights up for the night. “I knew you were the best girl for the job,” he says, the word ‘job’ instantly dampening Bonnie’s enthusiasm. Since his superior, Todd, hadn’t replied in a while, he had a truckload of work to manage. He gives Bonnie a stack of files and promises to pay her overtime.

Flustered, she collects herself and walks away. The man, Ronan, strides into an alley and answers a phone call. He assures the woman on the other line that he’d be able to ‘get in’. Raising his gloved fist, he stares at the orange-haired woman in the ID card.
Late at night, Bonnie heads back to work alone. She finds the Adams files on her desk and gets up to put them back on Wesley’s desk. Mr. Adams was a shady man, and she knew better than to get involved. Suddenly, she hears a noise at the end of the darkened hallway. She cautiously walks towards the scene- and sees something that horrifies her.
Blood was spattered on the wall in front of her. And Glen, the friendly security, lay dead beside it. The figure standing in front of it all turns around to reveal the face of the man she’d run into before, concluding Accidental Assassin Chapter 1.
Accidental Assassin Chapter 2: A Father’s Wisdom
Accidental Assassin Chapter 2 begins as Bonnie turns on her heels and sprints away faster than lightning. However, the black-clothed man easily catches up to her and puts a hand over her mouth. Suddenly, the click of a gun is heard behind them. “Run,” he warns her, as he swings around at the real culprit. As shots are fired in the background, Bonnie flees as fast as she can.
Suddenly, a second gunman appears in front of her. Oh no. “Act fast,” her father had once told her. Without overthinking, Bonnie does just that. She kicks the man as hard as she can and dashes down the corridor. Locking herself into a room, she tries to calm down. She tried to call the police- but found that her phone had no Wi-Fi. Suddenly, the door creaks open.
Mightier than the Sword
Bonnie drops down behind the desk and tries to remember her father’s words. “You’re thinking too much, kid,” he’d always said, “Your instincts are your greatest weapon.” Back then, she’d never taken him too seriously. But now…

Bonnie closes her fist around a pen on the desk above her. At the right second, she rushes out and attacks the gunman without hesitation. Landing as many hits as she can, she brings the man to his knees. Finally, with one last blow, Bonnie connects the pen’s tip to his eyeball. She picks up his gun and carefully heads for the door. But the man rises up behind her again and slams a metal paperweight to her head. Bonnie falls to the floor as he holds the gun to her head. Right on time, Ronan appears behind the man and renders him unconscious with one move. Bonnie blinks her eyes open and finds herself tied to a chair. In the dimly lit room, Ronan crosses his arms in front of her, concluding Accidental Assassin Chapter 2.
Accidental Assassin Chapter 3: An Unlikely Job Offer
Accidental Assassin Chapter 3 begins as Bonnie analyses the situation: Ronan, her kidnapper, was sitting cockily in front of her- and the only way out was behind him. “So… who do you work for?” he asks Bonnie distrustfully. When she answers- in full depth- about her job as an accountant, he registers her with some disbelief. She was just an accountant?
Nevertheless, he tells her that she was lucky he’d found her. The other two men had been sent to retrieve information. He was sent to stop them. Besides, they weren’t just your average masked muggers; they were assassins. Still, Ronan observes, one was taken down by ‘a girl wielding a pen’. When Bonnie fiercely asks to be untied, Ronan turns to the woman behind her. Wait, what?
The Assassin Potential In Her
A blonde woman- the Watcher- walks out, while Bonnie reprimands herself for not noticing her presence. She comes threateningly close to her, and then, in one clean swipe, cuts through her ties with a knife. “You have good instincts, Miss Bailey,” she says, introducing herself as Claire Anderson from ‘The Fianna’.
Though they were once the subject of Ireland’s mythological fairytales, they’d adapted into an elusive body of trained mercenaries. When Ronan tells her to be wary of disclosing confidential information to a civilian, Claire explains that Bonnie had the right to know. She was trying to recruit her.
That last statement causes both Bonnie and Ronan’s jaws to drop to the floor. What, now?
“I’m willing to take a chance on her,” she says to him, “Just like I took a chance on you.” Ronan goes quiet, letting Claire explain that Fianna kept a keen eye out for resourcefulness in recruits. She promises that, with time, Bonnie could become ‘something great’. Further, she explains how Mr. Adams was a ‘mob boss’ who had connections within crime networks. He laundered money, evaded taxes with companies like Fintech, and put everyone around him in danger.
Wesley. He handled the Adams files. Did that mean he was a target? Accidental Assassin Chapter 3 concludes as Claire hands her a number. If she accepted the offer, she’d be working as Ronan’s partner-oh, he’s thrilled about it-as an assassin. She had twenty-four hours to decide.
Accidental Assassin Chapter 4: At the Wrong Angle
Accidental Assassin Chapter 4 begins as Bonnie walks home in the pouring rain. She admits to herself that- against all reason- she was considering Claire’s offer. She arrives exhausted at her apartment door. The handle, which was always kept at a degree angle by habit, aligns perfectly with the floor. One-eighty degrees. That meant someone was inside. She arms herself and flicks the light on. Without hesitation, she attacks the man inside… who turns out to be Ronan. He manages to fight her off and knock her flat to the floor. Letting her go cautiously (as if releasing a feral animal), he assures her that he’d come in peace.
Sitting on Bonnie’s colorful, stuffed-toy peppered sofa like a fish out of water, Ronan tries to discourage Bonnie from taking the job. She had no idea what she was getting into; she was in way over her head. Offended by his attitude, Bonnie confidently asserts, “You have no idea what I can or can’t handle.” He grudgingly gives her a ring with the Fianna emblem on it. Walking through her door, he says with one last glance, “If you’re smart, we won’t meet again.”
Bonnie Makes Her Decision
The next day at work, Bonnie uneasily sits at her desk. There was no sign of what had happened last night. Everyone was eerily back to normal: the floors were wiped clean, and the bodies were removed. Wesley suddenly comes rushing to her for the Adams files. He cheerfully takes them from her and announces his new promotion. He was now the lead on the Adams accounts. The previous superior had disappeared, so the files had been passed on to him. And that wasn’t all, he’d gotten Bonnie promoted along with him.
It all spelled trouble. Bonnie excuses herself and impulsively calls Claire’s number. She had to protect Wesley. “I want to join the Fianna,” she says, concluding Accidental Assassin Chapter 4.
Accidental Assassin Chapter 5: The Secret Lair
Accidental Assassin Chapter 5 begins as Bonnie walks among the students at a college campus, her bright yellow sweater drastically standing out in the dull greys, browns, and blacks of the crowd. She’d gotten an anonymous message from Fianna telling her to meet with a representative there.
The crowd parts to reveal… Ronan. Bonnie grumpily regards the assassin, and he reciprocates her oh-so-sunny attitude right back to her. He frowns and says, “You decided not to take my advice.” But Bonnie holds her head up high and confidently backs her own choice.
Ronan leads her through the campus and into a dark basement within the college. Bonnie takes a deep breath, remembers her unexciting life at Fintech, and plunges into the dungeons with him. As they walk down the steep descent, Ronan explains that they are headed through a secret entrance. However, to the public, it was just a historical site that was off-limits. They reach a dead end. Despite Bonnie’s doubt, Ronan insists that he didn’t take wrong turns. He presses his Fianna ring into the bricks, prompting a hidden door to reveal itself.
Fianna-lly Here!
Bonnie walks through into a lavishly decorated, opulent hall with a raised ceiling and spiraling staircases. Walking on the red velvet carpet that stretched on through the long hallway, Bonnie admires the paintings of old Fianna members.
Ronan briefly explains the history to her: Fianna was led by Fionn MacCumhaill in the past; they’d fought for justice and peace, giving rise to the fairytales. In the present, it had evolved into a hidden organisation that operated from the shadows. It intervened in precarious situations, sometimes with drastic measures, in ways that established organisations could not. He leads her through the training room, where all the operatives start to whisper and gossip, to Claire. Claire tells her to get started on training right away; Bonnie had to catch up to the others (most of whom were ex-military). She looks at Ronan pointedly and says, “You will train together, fight together, and win or lose together.”
Accidental Assassin Chapter 5 concludes as Bonnie takes her leave, trying to wrap her mind around the abrupt change in pace in her life.
Accidental Assassin Chapter 6: Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Termination?!
Accidental Assassin Chapter 6 begins as Bonnie arrives at the new branch she’d been promoted to. Wesley shows her to her new office- it’s not too shabby- and explains that Mr. Adams had reduced the number of people working on his files. Bonnie wonders if his paranoia meant he knew about the previous incident.
Then, guiltily, Wesley tells her that they were the only ones on the team. He follows the crushing revelation with tremendous optimism- it was an opportunity for them! He pulls her in, making her blush, and thanks her for all her recent help. Sighing, Bonnie recounts how inseparable they’d been ever since day one, and shares in his excitement after he leaves.
At her desk, Bonnie regards the air around her. Something was wrong. Her father had made sure to fine-tune her instincts to her surroundings. She wasn’t going to miss a beat. Bonnie crosses over to the window and- bingo!- sees Ronan leaning on a wall opposite the building. How dare he!
Training, Hurling, All the Good Stuff
She storms out, her high heels furiously clacking against the pavement, and accuses him of stalking her. Bemused and uninterested, Ronan blatantly informs her that training would begin after work. “Don’t be late,” he tells her before leaving.
That evening, Bonnie finds herself on a hurling field with Ronan. He explains that, while it was just a sport presently, it was used as a martial art in the past. All the agility and strength that hurling taught were necessary for combat. Which made it the perfect game for training. But once the ball is in the air, Bonnie epically fails to match up to Ronan’s hurling expectations. “That was… pathetic,” he says, looking down at her exhausted form, barely having broken a sweat.
Accidental Assassin Chapter 6 concludes as he thinks, ‘She’s doing better than I anticipated… If she keeps this up, perhaps she won’t have to be terminated after all.’
Accidental Assassin Chapter 7: Still Just a Liability
Accidental Assassin Chapter 7 begins as Wesley notices Bonnie’s recent over-exhausted state. Lying that she slept badly, Bonnie recollects the combat training she’d been doing every morning before work. If getting her butt kicked wasn’t enough, she had to deal with her mentor’s grumpy attitude, too. What could be more energy draining than that?
Blushing slightly, Wesley asks Bonnie if she wants to get dinner with him that night. Did he mean it that way? Bonnie excitedly hopes so as she sits down at her desk with visible happiness. Her fingers find a folded note from Ronan. He wanted to train with her again?! With despair, Bonnie realizes that she’d have to reschedule her date with Wesley. She hopes that Ronan would choose something less-intensive at least.
Nope.
That evening, Ronan judo-flips Bonnie onto the ground. He harshly explains that he’d not yet seen proof of the talents Claire had recruited her for. When she argues that she wasn’t hired for her fighting skills, but her instinct and adaptability, Ronan dismisses her. “Right now, you’re a liability. And Fianna doesn’t tolerate liabilities,” he says, doubling her daily training sessions.
How Far Is Too Invested?
Two Fianna operatives, Cara and Liam, approach Bonnie. They greet her with friendly smiles and waves, curious to meet the new recruit with no prior combat training. In the course of their conversation, they reveal that Bonnie and Ronan will be accompanying them on a small mission in a few days. Bonnie excitedly pumps her fists: Finally! Some action! Cara, Liam, and Ronan each tell her their military qualifications, and she becomes more and more thrilled. But when she innocently calls their intel retrieval mission one of ‘low-stakes’ like a casual dinner date, Liam’s eyes widen. But he doesn’t correct her.
After she leaves, Liam asks Ronan, “What’s got you in such a twist? You don’t normally care about new initiates this much.” Ronan argues that he was responsible for her as a partner. Liam advises him not to get ‘too invested’; he would have to terminate her when she became a liability. Accidental Assassin Chapter 7 concludes as Ronan narrows his eyes and affirms that he only acted in the interest of Fianna.
